    Been flying for 35 years and that was a great explanation of a simple system that most people think is complicated

    Good video explaining the basics. I have an older attitude gyro that is now inop. . Vac gauge is showing consistent suction of approx 4.5 inches. My other vac driven instruments appear to be working ok. I'll pull it and use the shop vac technique before sending it in for overhaul. Thanks.

    I failed my PPL check ride because I forgot how the gyroscopic instruments work.. and realizing I could’ve saved 500 dollars by watching a 5 min video is crazy work.

    Too short video but! 1000% very well taught. Thank you very much.
    1 question if I may. Why those instruments need suction, & do they power too or suction?

    • @Ayersaviation
      @Ayersaviation  Рік тому +1

      Its just the way they were designed. They realized it was a bad idea to have all the flight instruments run off of electricity. if the electrical system failed, all the instruments would quit. so they came up with the air/suction system.

    Could a car intake produce enough vacuum to spin up the gyro? Say if I wanted to Install one of these in a car. Great video!

    • @Ayersaviation
      @Ayersaviation  Рік тому

      Probably not. Id say it would take about 2-3 times as much vacuum that a car produces
