It's a remarkable achievement to have made Amores Perros on a $2 million budget. The film somehow feels epic in scope.

One mistake I'd like to point out is that the Alexa Mini didn't exist when they shot the Birdman. They used Alexa XT on the steadicam and Alexa XT-M for handheld which is like the Venice Rialto. They used the Alexa XT-M later in The Relevant as well.

Would love to see a breakdown of costs, including actors and crew salaries. I.e. The Revenant, how much was Tom Hardy and DiCaprio paid? Crew? Thanks

Can you make a video discussing the difference between different film cameras? I'm curious on why certain cinematographers pick, say, a panavision camera over an arri one when the film stock is what generally dictates the look of the film

Great video! BTW when you were discussing the Revenant and specifically the careful opening and closing of the Iris, did you mean to say 1st AC instead of DIT? Cause a DIT is the technician who manages, processing, handles, and organizes the footage from set on the day. I don't see why the DIT would be helping operate the camera since one of the main jobs of a 1st AC is focus pulling and setting the aperture for shots. Probably just a slip-up in terminalogy :). Anyways, solid vid. I need to see more of Innaritu's stuff. I freaking love Lubezki's (aka El Chivo) work and have liked some of what I've seen from Innaritu.

It’s pretty common for the DIT to ride the iris on set. I rarely, if ever see the AC’s do that. Normally it will be either the DIT or DP.

Bardo was really ambitious and surreal in its visuals, more people should see it, although I consider it one of his weakest films

Amores Perros y 21 Gramos son sus mejores películas, después lo perdimos para siempre.
Lástima de director, fue absorbido por la industria Hollywoodense.

This video series is a bit pointless. Every film has been shot the way that film has been conceptualised, i.e. true to that film and this applies to every film a good filmmaker makes. So to string them together and say "how so-and-so director shoots a film at three budgets" is to claim that there is something connected going on. When you watch these videos you realise they are simply an analysis of three different films, rather than three different budgets.

Most overrated director of all time.

In a world that includes Christopher Nolan, Michael Bay, Jordan Peele, Peter Jackson, David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino and the Coen brothers this is quite a statement. Would you care to elaborate? I can see why someone wouldn't like his work, but to call him the most overrated director of all time sounds like a hyperbole.
