Hi, Bitesize, I like your piano lesson, I learned the whole lesson and I don''t have any piano practice background, and your lesson help me alot, I think I can play the first part now, so looking forward to you 2nd part of the lesson. thank you, Ricky from Melbourne.
One suggestion I have is to play the end result right at the beginning of the video. That way we have something to shoot for when going very slow. We know where we are headed.
Do you mean at full speed? I did have that in there initially (like with the vast majority of my other tutorials). Sometimes I intend to add much more into a video, but then have to remove elements so it's not too long.
Hi Bitsize piano. This was a great tutorial but I would like to tell you something. Could you please move the camera downwards in your videos because its hard it see the notes you are playing with your hand. Thanks.
I enjoy and strongly recommend your course and have all the 40 lessons printed out so I can keep going back and reminding myself of the theory. With this lesson, it would be good if the link to the full sheet music is clearer. Also, being a beginner and having learned the Circle of 5ths, I was thrown by your A minor scale having a G Sharp instead of a G. It maybe worth explaining why, otherwise we end up looking at other sites for the answer. So, in A minor, there are 3 scales; A minor Natural, Harmonic and Melodic which are each different in order to resolve to the tonic in. different way.
This is NOT a tutorial suitable for beginners, nor have I yet made the sheet music available. If you’re enrolled to my course, then I go over the harmonic minor. I have an entire free scales series coming out from the end of this month whilst I take my maternity break. I highly recommend as a beginner that you wait to try to learn this piece as it will be counterproductive. I also recommend as a beginner that you don’t need to know what the circle of 5ths is - there seems to be an obsession with it for self-learners, and it’s caused you to actually become more confused. Its very unnecessary at beginner stage.
Has anyone can explain why in 4:21 she played F# & A not F# and A# while I'm seeing a # in both F & A? But in 4:44 she played both D# and F#? And the number on top of note such as 4/2 what do they mean? BTW: in 4:26 why she played F# when no # symboys? Thanks in advance
The # symbol is on the F line, not the A. You play an F# as well as a D# as the F had been sharpened previously in the bar, which carries through for the rest of that bar. I've no idea what you mean for your last questions about 4:26? The numbers on top are referring to suggested finger numbers. You seem like you're very much a beginner; I'd perhaps learn songs/pieces more at your level, as you're asking questions about very basic aspects of music notation!
Thank you ma'am. Would appreciate if you could tell how you use one half of the screen for displaying sheet music? That also line by line (section by section) ? What is the software/app that you're using for it?
Hey! I just use iMovie (inbuilt into my MacBook pro) to edit my videos. I crop the sheet music file line-by-line and insert it into the video as a 'picture in a picture', then make it the right size and placement. Hope this helps.
