Brilliant job to have when things go well. Done this job for 2 years made some serious cash at times. Remember the once a plumber called me over shown me the way to his garage full of boilers. 33 in total all mine. Good day that was.
Nice to see a tatter abide by the rules, kerb side, fair game, on the drive, double check. friggin Romo's had my stash from by mr garage door I'd been saving for 6 months the other day!!!
Awesome channel, just turned up on me screen mate. I used to do the cables at Davie Mcallisters yard at B.O.D in Aberdeen, this was late 80s so the cable would go on a fire, overnight the plastic/rubber was gone, mostly then 3 bagging all day, armour steel, lead insulation, and the copper in the centre of that days world. It couldn’t happen now,the burning and the dinner and a bottle of juice and a daily wage or keep your days added up. I loved them days ,£20 quid a skip to paint n stencil could bang out a few of them. The McAllister family in Aberdeen and the N.E of Scotland, put a hell of a lot back into the community, hard days graft, dirty hands graced with crisp n clean notes 🏴✝️
Mate had a tipper & worked like this with him, doing driving & helping odd days. Can be hard graft if doing rubbish clearances, with builders waste & such. Having a tipper truck was a bonus.
That was brilliant. Loved the 'any old iron' horn, you just don't hear that anymore! I also love the fact you have an area where people can strip the stuff down, I bet that is really beneficial for a lot of people 👍
Excellent video , really made me laugh , been in the scrap game over 35 years since I was 12 , my son's in the scrap game too we are in South London & SW Wales , just subscribed , will catch up with your other videos . Good luck with channel ,Ian
No you can if your quick enough. Some yards will not have you clean materials (separate). A sharp axe & heavy sledge does an amazing fast job. I been scrapping since the age of 11. Mastered my technic. Love it
i collect any scrap i find on my push bike taps copper pipes lead cabbles car battreys motors builds up fast & copper price is up i think... real enjoyed watching this! just wish could find some bright wire lol 🤔👍
Pal owns a HUGE scrapyard here, his version is the Tatters - looked down on as they are, make the lions share of the profit in scrapping. "They get it for nowt, J, I pay them top dollar & have to re-sell it, while having massive overheads & hassle...they have no overheads - who is the Fool?" He kinda has a point,..
Hi mate, would love a video explaining how to start in the scrap industry maybe get your dad to talk a bit on it what it takes financially and physically and how your family came into it. Love the videos. From a serving infantrymen 🤙🏼
Friend did it & plenty of profit in it, but costs can be high to empty/off load. You need a commercial waste licence. I'd say from experience (doing driving work for him) get a tipper truck. Saves lot of grief unloading & labour.
@@goysb4jays566 you can collect scrap etc abs get rid of that fir zero. But to get rid of rubbish it carries quite a high cost if in a commercial vehicle.
I don't get it, Taroni yard let you sort out the scrap on their site? Where I am you got to arrive at the yard with your non-ferrous already sorted. Is this only at Taroni or am I going to the wrong one?
Random question....im trying to start a recycling company with cardboard ,paper and plastics but the insurance is a mine field. If you didnt mind me asking who do you use? I understand of you carnt say of course. Keep up the good work
Remember 'rag & bone men' from when I was a kid. Gypsie ladies selling pegs, old dude used to come & sharpen knifes on his bicycle. Worked doing something very similar to this. Some of the pedantic neighbours & people getting angry when you are taking rubbish away. Getting passed off that someone is taking away rubbish that's been left out. Makes me annoyed just thinking about some of those fools.
I was young 30 years ago 🤣 wish I could go with em cruising the streets everyday ALL weather scrapping, can of beer and a sandwich Great job not bothering anyone who's not a twatbag
I think the tat man needs his own series!!! Loved watching this
Tat man proper grafter!!!
This was a good episode. I hope the Tat man gets more business from this. He’s genuinely nice guy. And hard grafter.

Always wondered if scrap guys sort out motors etc at home? Makes sense to sort it at yard. I'm right in thinking you can't tear down at every yard?
That's right mate, especially since covid came along
