RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.
RE: LIVE VERSIONS vs STUDIO:
Check out why we haven't uploaded any live versions... yet. They will be coming, we promise!

The live at Budokan version of this song is beyond amazing!!
You are Right Sir.
Every version on Live at the Budokan is amazing.
Pro trick: watch series on KaldroStream. I've been using them for watching loads of movies these days.
@Mordechai Misael Yup, I have been using KaldroStream for months myself :)
John Myung is very underrated in this band. His playing is from another level.
Very true but tbh he doesnt shine a lot in this song, its just root ones with a few guitar follows, the ending is by far my favorite part to play but its still pretty boring
@@mirkecWiisometimes the simplest the best.
Features James LaBrie's finest vocal performance
Possibly the most skilful group of rock musicians in a single band on the planet. Don’t always get the writing perfect but when they do oh boy! Look forward to as much Dream theatre as you care to do.
"Honor thy Father" From this album a must hear... Musically and Lyrically a Banger to the Nth. Degree. Just my two cents.
from around 13:00 onwards i always start gettin' emotional : The way they built the entire last section of this song is gotta be my top 5 musical moments Ever.
my Fav DT song.. kinda underrated in my opinion :)
hearing Mike's drumming on this back in middle school made me start playing the drums
If my memory serves me correctly, on November 11, 2003 my bandmate and I parked in the Mentor, OH library parking lot, opened the CD, put it into the band truck CD player, and pressed play. The first track was "As I Am" and we didn't get to "Stream of Consciousness" (shout out to "Lines in the Sand" lyrics) until track 6. Everything was listened to in sequence. This was before UA-cam, streaming services, or MP3 album sales took off. We never really heard tracks individually unless the band was famous and got a single or two on the radio. We did see DT in 2003 and 2004, as well as Rush, Days of the New, and Eric Johnson (playing acoustic in a small venue all by himself). Memories!
play this while driving, you won't regret it.
Storm Thorgerson , who did album covers for Pink Floyd, Genesis and many others,
did the cover for Dream Theater's Falling Into Infinity album
DT has been my favorite band for nearly 20 years. I' think i've seen them performing live 7-8 times. Great moments. They still giving me goosebumps. They are such incredibly good musicians. Love your reaction to this song.
The rest of this album is FIRE!!!!
My favorite DT album
Yeeeesss!!! Gracias amigos, gran instrumental, espero que hagan mas y mas de Dream Theater. Un gran abrazo a ambos desde Chile.
Petrucci is arguably the best guitarist in the game right now hands down. What a monster.
I will recommend again The Best Of Times by Dream Theater, for sure one of the best solos ever created! Cheers!
My favorite Dream Theater Album!! Enjoy the ride!
DT's best instrumental. Period.
The Best of times so you both cry from emotion
Definitely hearing King Crimson in this
No
for sure, the first slow breakdown section with the bass solo, with the dissonant Fripp-ish guitar in the background playing off-beat. heavy Thrak vibes.
Always enjoy your reactions. Especially these longer pieces. I'd love to see your reaction to the full length Iron Butterfliy track "In-A-Gadda-Da-vida"
That would be a blast if they never heard that🤟
Hey guys,
React to Liquid Tension Experiment "Another Dimension".
I am sure Lex has not listened to it,so it's a great track to get your first reactions!
Oh,not to forget, listen to Hollow Years live version of Live at Budokan. You WON'T regret it,i'm telling you!
The first time i saw them it was on this tour, with Queesryche.
They are actually on the soundtrack to God of War 3. Dream Theater contributed an instrumental called Raw Dog which is God War backwards. It's an insane piece of music!!
DT has a thing for backwards names Ytse jam is majesty backwards too.
Three songs in one day is quite a treat. Thanks for all the great content.I can't wait to see what you surprise us with next.
Great band I Investigated after being a fan of Threshold a british Prog metal band, i'd suggest giving them a listen, tracks to try: Narcissus, Light and Space, The Man who saw through time, Mission Profile, The Destruction of words.
Just WAIT until you hear Hypersonic from Liquid Tension Experiment 3!!!🤯🤯🤯
I'm so glad you do the original release first!
Wow! That's awesome! It's great to you get back to Dream Theater! Cheers!
That whole outro section gives me chills EVERY time! You guys as others have said should watch the live version of this as it's incredible!
John Petrucci always, ALWAYS delivers the best of the best it's mind blowing
Great Cut! Reminds me of Malmsteen or Satriani mixed in. When's the next live Listening Party? Loved the last one and can't wait for the next. Hope it's soon!
Great reaction guys. The name of the album was the working title of what became Falling into infinity, In the song Lines in the sand there is a lyric "in the stream of consciousness, there is a river crying". A little trivia to chew on. For a future Dream Theater reaction may I request the song Our New World from the album the Astonishing.
Me encantó Saludos desde buenos Aires
In the name of god is a highly underrated song from the train of thought album. You both NEED to check it out!!
This song is a ship on the stormiest of seas
check out 'This Dying Soul' from the same album :)
oh yeahhhhhhhhhh lets go! i recommend watching the live Budakon version as well :D
Jordan is a monster. Oddly this is MY "first listen" to Dream Theater! (Thanks for this!) I knew of Dream Theater, but never dug in yet! I've seen Jordan with Marc Bonilla at the Keith Emerson Tribute concert back in 2016 when they did Tarkus! And I've discovered his musical app "Geoshred" (Highly recommended.)
Enjoying this a lot - those Berklee School of music chaps really know their stuff! ;-)
Yes, Alice, Dream Theater is really that good. I love your reaction and appreciation for this music magic. They really show their musical mastery. I have seen Dream Theater more than any other band. In small venues and larger Pavillions as openers and as headliners, they never fail to deliver a memorable concert event. Tasty stuff!
Vacant is the introduction to this song. It's short with somber vocals about Alzheimer's. It has a motif that carries on through Stream of Consciousness.
I didn't know that!! Thanks for the correction!!
Vacant is basically the lead in to this song, they go so well together it's like an intro. Same thing with Hell's Kitchen & Lines in the Sand (You guys should react to those songs BTW).
Nick I enjoy your Dream Theater reactions when both of you have not heard the song, however I don't know what you haven't heard. I suggest Lines in the Sand or Illumination Theory. Even if you've heard them, I know Lex will enjoy them . Thanks and keep it up You two are among my favorite reactors
More Dream Theater please!!!
For all the Dream Theater fans out there, Elizabeth Zharoff of The Charismatic Voice did a great 2 hour interview with James LaBrie
Link to interview: ua-cam.com/video/pItFsa8gRQo/v-deo.html
Next - 'Trial of Tears' also from this album.
La Versión de Budokan, sigue siendo más heavy y más oscura, se los recomiendo. Saludos desde Ecuador
Great cut...... Love the change-ups !!!!!!YOU guys need to check out the song I dedicated to you both. The answer lies within.....
Vocês são demais! Brasil aqui
traten de reacciona a Los Jaivas "la poderosa muerte" , creo que los sorprenderá.
live versions of "To Live Forever" are the best)
This song is epic
studio version 1st always! What you could do is doubled videos : > D 1st round studio, 2nd round live
Castlevania reference was awesome.
Im just curious. My guess would be if nick plays guitar he is familiar with adrian belew. But heres a suggestion in case you are unfamiliar.. Adrian Belew and the power trio...”ampersand”
You guys are great!! Tool Pneuma? Would love to hear your reactions. Hi from Spokane Wa
If you two are up for some jazz fusion with blistering fast guitar, check out Al DiMeola's song "Race With Devil On Spanish Highway". As Yes, Rush, and Dream Theater fans, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
We LOVE DiMeola and I’m sure you you’ll love an upcoming reaction we’ve got brewing! ;)
@@NicknLex And please do a double reaction with recent version feat. Steve Vai - "Race With Devil On Turkish Highway"!
YO GUYS! You guys definitely have to react to the Count of Tuscany by Dream Theater! Perfect prog piece, heavy and also melodic. Please check it out
Dream Theater - The Twelve Step Suite
I love responding to your reactions. The only problem I find is after I post to your page, it disappears. I'm going to respond again, but even my second post is gone. ???????? This was a great song for you to react to. It was recorded back in the day when DT was the best they could be. Mike Portnoy is the DT sound just as much as John Petrucci is. You can't replace one and expect them to still sound the same. Mike M. is good, but he ain't no Portnoy, and never will be.
Ilumination Theory Dream Theater !!!!! 😌
Please also react to By Tor and the Snow Dog by Rush. This is really epic Rush at their best!! Neil Peart really shines on this one.
Este instrumental y Hells Kitchen son hermosos!!!
🖤
Dream Theater - THE GLASS PRISON
It takes you from birth to death musically.
SPECIAL REQUEST!! Can you please react to Take Your Fingers From My Hair by Zebra and then Dream Theater's cover version??!? You'll love it!!
Yes! I love that idea! I also think Stargazer by Rainbow and then Dream Theater’s version would be awesome
@@nedrini1387 I hope they do it!!
I wonder if Nick has heard their cover of King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic Pt II??? Nick did you see that? Yes. Legendary cover. Would make an awesome two-for-one for Lex if you can get past KC's copyright brigade!
React dream theater-this dying soul
This was an incredible tour, as they opened for YES's 35th Anniversary Tour (which DT played an instrumental version of "Machine Messiah"). This is an album I got more into years after its debut. "Honor Thy Father" hits close to home (and dialogue _scenes_ from the film "Magnolia"), its a guilty pleasure being what the lyrics deal with and my relationship with my Father.
The only track that I have a love/hate relationship with is the opener "As I Am", LOVE the lyrics, but its too much a rip-off of Metallica's "Enter Sandman", which is a song I wouldn't have to hear anymore for the rest of my life . . . Its WAAAAY overplayed :p.
That instrumental playlist I sent within the latest Email, which has YYZ and tracks they (Rush) may have been inspired by, also has DT's "1st" infamous Instrumental track from their debut album, that may have been influenced by YYZ. That one may deserve a Reaction if inclined (ironic that you guys are mentioning some other tracks on that playlist I sent too :).
Also on this album (as explained on their Wiki page): "This Dying Soul" continues Mike Portnoy's Twelve-step Suite, which started with "The Glass Prison" on Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and later continued with "The Root of All Evil" on Octavarium, "Repentance" on Systematic Chaos, and concluded with "The Shattered Fortress" on Black Clouds & Silver Linings. These songs share some of the lyrics and melodies.
Live Vs Studio . . .
You know, as I think about it, 2 bands that I heard the "Live Versions" 1st before their studio versions, were tracks from "Deep Purple - Made in Japan" and "UFO - Strangers in the Night" as a teen. I'm totally there with you guys about hearing Studio versions 1st, but those 2 albums, I have to say most of the tracks are SOOOO much better than the studio versions (but the studio versions are great too ;).
- Thanks again guys for rockin' out \m/.
Idk y he was doing the keyboard fingers in the wah pedal part
I guess because I am a Musical idiot who doesn't know anything. Enjoy my guitar playing videos on the channel 😜😜😜
You want More without James Labrie. Liquid Tension Experiment is three of the five, all instrumental. Acid rain, freedom of speech are good songs.
We’ve done a few LTE and I absolutely love them!! Acid Rain was very early on in the channel but a few days ago in the car we listened to it and I loved it!
She stops the music exactly at minute 11:06 at the changing of the part, at the end of that part of the song and comments it. Really first time hearing?
It is obvious to understand there was a transition. Listen to the drums
Thanks for this! Love your channel.
Pink Floyd sucks in much comparison to bands that actually rock. Take John cafferty and the brown beaver group! They were awesome!
Pink Floyd sucks??? LMAO
@@NicknLex Rock is about attitude, not making people fall asleep
@@Heatwave9000 whatever ...
@@NicknLex Lol
@@Heatwave9000 I mean if you fall asleep to Pink Floyd there is so point in talking more about this. Honestly sad to hear.
Hmm...in fact this is the weakest song from that album but it's OK since the others are already overreacted. The others are a perfect win regardless. But before getting into the goodies of this album get some Dream Theater having fun doping awesome metal covers of non metal song like Tenement funster/Lilly of the valley, Beatles cover
awesome cover
Nah this is better than a lot of songs on the album, most people don't have the technical understanding to appreciate instrumentals enough. The vast majority of people gravitate towards vocals over instruments.
You really need to watch the Live at the Budokan version of this piece to fully appreciate the musicianship.
