- Stress levels at a level 10 today! A transporter has arrived to collect a mini but the garage next door haven't finished the mot, Dave is now £300 out of pocket and Wayne is getting stressed, just another day as car trader!
This is the exact reason my cars are fully prepped before advertising, car can go soon as the advert goes live, saves a lot of time and headache!

Lads when you move premises get your own mechanic
This is a communication challenge. Have a sit down and talk about how you schedule work, what your deadlines are, what your expectations are with early MOT to resolve faults. If they can’t do it, they need to raise it as a change request with you, the customer. If their schedule is too full, you send it to another garage. You can de-risk your business by a more resilient supply chain, which means more than one mechanic/workshop, in the same way that you source buying cars from different channels. Thanks for sharing the raw reality of the business. It happens in every trade and every workplace. Good luck.

Hi guys, I'm only 10 minutes in but already this is so relatable. Touched on it in a few if my recent videos. On my 2nd set of mechanics in 12 months now and just had my first clash with the new ones. Turning cars over in 48hrs when I first started, last one he had 3 weeks, took £518 off me and it came out with an EML on that it didnt have before that I've had to take to a new mechanic to have fixed. Ill pick that bill up in the morning. They've now got another one that I dropped on Monday and still haven't touched it. So thanks for this, great therapy 😂🙏

I always value Wayne’s opinion and in this situation he was totally right, things got a bit out of hand and rarely do I let my emotions take over. Trade work always come first. Its thier bread and butter.
You would think but if we’re after a couple of 3 hours jobs and a retails customer comes with a set of disks and pads I bet you they prioritise the chance to pull someone’s pants down
You do it on a much bigger scale than me. I have my day 1 mechanic, still use him! I started getting a bit busy, overloading him so started using another garage too, they were usually quick but rude and i don't think they appreciated the work so back to mechanic 1! Give the work to who appreciates it and doesn't let you down, I love Waynes passion ❤

Wayne sticking up for his friend and boss ❤ When you get your new place, hire someone to do mechanical work and help Wayne/James. Did Dave see the damp odour on the report for the Golf? But then have garages do the MOTs/services for stamps. Keep the content and videos coming.

We used to get this all the time, once a workshop realised they were getting all our work it went straight to the back of the queue if there was a walk-in. Even once we had our own mechanics the same issue would turn still up with the painters, the transporters etc, etc.
Ideally, if you can justify it, you need as much of the prep/repair work done in-house…

Dave you're a nice calm guy - Wayne sees you getting messed around and he's protecting his mate and he gets passionate.
I binned off my mechanics who was very local to me and just adjusted my schedule to fit in with my new mechanics of which i now have 2 so i don't overload them i just book them in, in plenty of time.
i'd either tell them next door your expectations or go elsewhere, you'll get use to the new schedule - they're the ones that'll lose a load of income.
Why should you be apologetic for giving them work and money - i'm thinking they've got no respect

I’m likely going wrong. I’m going in on a rinsed car, pump sprayer light on with neat TFR, high foaming. Go over rag and rinse. Done. I always speed paste wax over as TFR both removes gloss and also marrs the top coat however quickly I do it …. Wonder if should not go on neat.
People say citrus works as hard doesn’t effect top coat????
Used APC other day. Was more carpet extraction fluid APC mix. In a pump sprayer again , one do seats with . That too cleaned body ok enough.
I’ve CarChem 1/1000 shampoo I hardly use, just wanna remove the grime better / harder

Hiya fellas, understand your pain… do you get the cars prepped as soon as they arrive on the pitch? If not that might be the answer. Worst that will happen is you need to reMoT a car if it’s sat on the forecourt for a while.
No we don’t prep them all straightaway because a lot of them we trade on so don’t want to spend money on servicing and an mot if we can trade it on on quick, this is what’s annoying when the garage have a go saying we don’t prep every car straightaway but lots of cars are different and it’s none of their business how we run our things here!

Guy’s…….I’m in the same boat! But a one man outfit…….stock around 15-18 cars. I sell around 10 cars a month and each quarter I spend around 15k on mechanical work between 2 garages and get treated like shite! So each garage get’s around 30k a year from me and I’m not a good customer! Mr & Mrs Smith with have an MOT and oil and spend £150 a year are gods and the customers they want. Anything other than a service or brakes……they don’t want to know! I’m not trying to tell them how to run their business………but they can’t have all the cream easy jobs and fob me off if I need a timing belt replaced. I’ve been round to several garages to ask if they do trade work! And get marched of the site and spoke to like shite! I’m not after cheap prices…..I just want a good job done for my money in a timely manner. Believe me…..it’s not only mechanics, it’s paintwork, dent man, valet companies, alloy wheel refurbishes and list goes on.
