      Lol...You guys know it has nothing to do with D&D right? That it has already been confirmed that this, more or less, happens in GRRM books? This has been plotted from the start. It's tragic, sure. But it's great storytelling. This season was rushed, I will give it that, and I think it would have been better broken into two. However, Dany becoming corrupted and ultimately being killed by Jon was always going to happen. It's a tragic story, but a good one. I actually find their relationship and even Dany more fascinating because she became a sort of "tragic villain".

      WickedKiss Actually this was not set up in the books at all. Yes in the books we see her calculate her decisions and worry about ending up like her father, but we also see other characters battle with their demons (their inner turmoil). Also Jon hasn’t even been resurrected yet in the books🤦🏾‍♀️. All we know that’s been confirmed is that another Dance of Dragons is suppose to happen ( between a true Targaryen and possibly maybe another one or a branch one Blackfyre). She may become a tragic villain but it could be after the Dance of Dragons. Not like this. And I’m unconvinced that GRRM doesn’t have something up his sleeve with Bran after the many times Bran says “I’m not Bran anymore”.

      That’s the irony of it.....Jon always DID know what was right an what was wrong. He just never really had the confidence to seize it. Like we all know If Jon would of takin his throne, or rather allowed to be king we all know he would of been a good King for the world. But he never wanted to be king even after he found out, he just wanted to be a simple man, with no more fighting. I feel like he COULD have gotten therw to Daenerys, an they could of ruled together. I know Tyrion said she would be to strong for him but....even though Rhaegar was good, I’m sure Lyanna could of helped him be a good King if they had the chance. So Jon could of got to. Therw to Dany.

      I believe Jon should have eventually gone north of the Wall, but as an active abdication (just like Maester Aemon did for his brother Aegon).

      @WickedKiss 5 років тому +2

      Lol that's BS. GRRM has made a killing off of the HBO series of GOT. He doesn't need the readers who little feelings will be hurt when he continues the story that he started. Demanding that a writer change their story to fit what the READER wants is laughably ridiculous. I know that because I am a writer, and because I am a published writer myself, and can see the type of writing that GRRM presents, I can flat out tell you that any writer worth his or her salt would not change a storyline for a group of fans. Peeeriod hahaha. For real. Just don't bother reading it then. Grow up. People don't have to cater to your wishes. lol @@miladydewinter8551

      A story does not have to have a happy ending in order to be considered a good one. Why? He did the right thing. Sometimes, the right thing is terrible, hard and tears you apart. Dany was a danger to the innocent. It did not start that way for her, but people change. That's the best part of a story, I think. The development of a character. Dany is far more interesting and compelling as a tragic villain. In Season 8, she told Jon that Sansa was not the same girl she had been, not after what she had been through and seen. When I heard that line, I agreed, but I had also immediately thought the same of Dany. Dany was not the same girl that she had been in the first season. It will be well written and justified that's for sure but still it will leave a bad taste in my mouth. Also I don't find that clever of a twist: it is a boring clichè. Having her end up like the father, the person she tried so hard not to become all these years... Wow very "unexpected". I don't find it bittersweet. It is cynical and tragic and I hate the message it sends: that in the end, the past will always haunt you and love only exists to ruins people's hearts. Unfortunately, for grr's great work I can say sincerily that this is not a good story.
      Anyway, the fact that we see the events from an unilateral perspective is interesting. We can not see daenerys real feelings about it. This and jon's lines "was it right what I did? / It does not right" makes me think about dany as a misunderstood person. They did not understand(jon, tyrion, sansa) fear is her only option. She should have burnt a part of that city. She truly does not wished to do that, but it was necessary for her survival. She knew what a rebbelion of people means(the bay of dragons experience) and also knew that people of kings landing would try to kill her instantly. She gave them a choice and they chose to stand by Cersei. She made many mistakes, that's sure. But I think maybe a world with her would be a good one. Sadly she could not understand by the others.

      They all hated her except Jon, so why did he let that little pip squeak Tyrion talk him into killing her, because thats what he did, and where was her trial. And no, it was not right. What she did was horrible, but Sansa, Tyrion, Varys were every bit as responsible for it as she was. She loved Jon so she decided to help fight the wars. As it turned out she and her Army's and Dragons did most of the dirty work, saved their ASSES and what did it get her, DEAD, by the man she loved. So if he did do the right thing ( I don't think he did ) but if he did, then the rest of the traitors should have went down as well. But guess what, they got rewarded. I thought treason was a hanging offense. And yes, I think Jon will suffer pain and guilt for the rest of his days, maybe even go MAD. Isn't that what Targaryens do? When Drogon began to melt the Throne, for a few seconds I thought Jon would step in front of him but the dragon turned to the throne and melted one of the reasons for her death. What the traitors couldn't seem to get through their heads, JON DID NOT WANT TO SIT ON THE IRON THRONE.So all the plotting and planning was for naught, and when Jon found out about being her nephew, he rejected her and I don't understand why, he already slept with her once, you can't unring a bell so what was the problem? HIS HONOR?? WHERE WAS HIS HONOR WHEN HE MURDERED HER IN COLD BLOOD. So he was also partly responsible for what happened. If I remember correctly, when Jon and Dany rode in for the war, Sansa hated her on sight, and Dany knew it, she even told Jon. So Dany explained to her that she was there for Jon, that she loved him, and wanted to help him, Also all her life she's wanted the Iron Throne, UNTIL SHE MET JON!! But after she found out about Jons birthright, and ask him not to say anything, which he did to his sisters, but ask them not to say anything, which Sansa did to anyone who would listen because he was the rightful heir to the throne which I will repeat again ( HE DID NOT WANT THE IRON THRONE), AND that whole slaughter could have been avoided. So they are all culpable every bit as much as Dany. AND THAT'S WHY I DONT THINK JON DID THE RIGHT THING, BUT I'M SURE A LOT OF YOU DID, AND IF SO, THEN THE REST OF THEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUNISHED AS WELL. NOT BEEN REWARDED. BUT IF THEY WANT A BUNCH OF TRAITORS RUNNING THEIR KINGDOMS, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT

    It wasn't right. That's why it didn't feel right. How can someone who was betrayed and killed do the same to the person he allegedly loved? Let us not forget the GoT world. All conquerors had to inspire fear and the people in King's Landing... well they would bend the knee to a person more powerful and feared than Cersei. I don't approve Dany killing children , what I'm saying is that it seemed the only way considering those people hated Joffrey and still cheered at Ned's execution or turned against Tyrion for "killing" Joffrey. Everything that happened before suggests to me that most likely the other places Dany mentioned she would free from tyrants would bend the knee after what happened in King's Landing. She did mention Winterfell too , but not sure if she really wanted to attack it since she fought with those people already, perhaps it was just a way to set up boundaries.

    • @leahmiller8705
      @leahmiller8705 4 роки тому +2

      She didn't have to decimate King's Landing, she had already won the city by fear. That's how she won KL's surrender. Just because you have bad people living in the city doesn't mean it's okay to kill everyone in site. Nobody else in GoT or ASOIAF has slaughtered a city after they've already won the war. Not to mention Dany thought she "liberated" all those people she killed and wanted to "liberate" the entire world, declaring war even on places under her rule -- places that had no slavery. There were no other tyrants left. Dany wanted to take away everyone else's choice and was refusing mercy for the current people. That's a scary world.

    This is a beautiful video that really captures the beauty and tragedy of this beautiful and well crafted story that D&D brought to life. I am a huge book fan and I love the shows. My only complaint was the pacing of this season and I wish that it could have been split into two. I've always believed that Dany would be corrupted. Even Dany thought many times that she only feared herself (books). I don't know why there are so many people blaming D&D for what happened to Dany and Jon, as it has already been confirmed that this will more or less happen within the books as well. That means it is GRRM's ending, not D&D's. The tragedy in this story and the twist of Dany becoming a "tragic villain" is beautiful and compelling. Your video really captured that, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. :)

      There's nothing "beautiful" about an abuse victim who did so much good only to fall into madness like her father. Because that's the message isn't? No matter what you do, you'll turn out exactly like your crazy parents. That's gross, and Grrm can KEEP his ending if that's really what its all about.

    I think Daenerys had a psychotic break (that's my interpretation), and that Jon was also in a delicate mental state, he also has Targaryen genes, of course he wouldn't be mentally well after all that either, so it was easy manipulate him into doing this, at that moment he thought there was no other way, he was convinced of that, but it doesn't feel right because a part of him feels he could have done something, Jon is not only a Stark, he was raised as one, but so is he is Targaryen, no man in this family could do that and find peace, the sacrifice was huge for him, I like to think she is at peace with her son, her mother and those she loves, but Jon will live in torment for rest of his life, that's his punishment, to be consumed by pain, regret, guilt and grief, and I'm so sorry because I love them both

    Honestly, they are my favourite characters on the show(Jon imo is a little bit better) and I have to say it was the right thing to do, Jon has always been honourable and admirable throughout Got, even though many people would hate him for it, like going to Hardhome for example. And when Dany stated they don't get to choose and the fact that the North would get burnt by Dany as they wouldn't kneel, as well as the rest of Westeros as, no one would probably stand by her after what she did in Kings landing, he had to kill her. People keep forgetting Jon walked into the throne room to persuade her, not to become evil and conquer Westeros but she wouldn't listen and at the end of the day Jon did what needed to be done. Plus Jon was very loyal to her, the only reason he stopped was because he realised that she was going to do this to every city who didn't bend the knee.
