I don't think that I've watched a 40 minutes plus video on youtube without skipping a single second. This is the first one. I think is one of the best videos out there explaining in detail ( where it counts ), every setting that is important. By watching this, I've discovered that some of the important settings where wrong. So yeah, great walktrough.
Having just traded up from a Canon 6D, I needed helping hand with this feature-rich Z6, and this video has done the job - extremely well? Thank you very much indeed.
This video is very helpful. It can serve as an instruction manual for me. I like the fact that you took the time to explain what each of the key options do rather than just talking about the options that you use. Thank you for making this video.
Absolutely outstanding video I am renting the Z6 just for a few days and did not want to have to go through a whole manual to get the information you share. Thank you so much
It's taken me nearly a year to fully set up my camera, and after watching this now I'm slapping myself for not watching this earlier. Thank you, this video was great.
I have been looking for 2 months for a straightforward informational presentation like this! Thank you for an excellent video that actually covers the details others leave out! Simply brilliant! Thank you again!
After couple of days of confusing guides, finally one that goes systematically through the setup, and explaining what the key options and reasons for some of the setups are useful for. Thank you. You relieved bunch of frustration.
Many thanks from Queensland, Australia. Very comprehensive, clearly spoken & very easy to follow. A vast difference from the D800/750 et al. I have you Bookmarked!
Thank You for such a helpful info. I just bought Nikon Z6 so it is just what I wanted. I love the way you explain all the features on the Z6..... Thank You.
Thanks for your video . Would you consider a complete tutorial series on using Z6 in various fields . Maybe separate videos for photography n video . And those too in different common uses . That's gonna be of great help to Z6 user community
INCREDIBLY useful! Thank you for going through all this detail. Your videos helped convince me to purchase a Z6, and so this was perfect as the next step to understand initial setup and some other options to explore further. THANK YOU!!
Hey thanks for great video. Question: How did you record the menu? The camera does not send any output through my video capture card when I press the camera menu button.
Thank you for your video. I just bought the Z6 and this has really helped me figure out the settings and how to set them for what I use the camera for. I'm heading to Tasmania in a few days and it's given me a really good insight into what features this camera has. - thanks!
Thank you, another realy helpful video. When I was going through the set up, quire a few of the options were blanked out and I got "this option is not available at current settings, or in the cameras current state" but there were no clues as to how to get them back. Do you have any suggestions please?
Thank you for this video. Lengthy, but useful, especially if you have your camera in hand while watching it. You have filled in a few gaps about the Z6, and clarified a number is things for other Nikon Cameras.
really great explainations for beginning to use my camera. Need to slow down on the customization features. I still don't know how to use these options on the Z6. any additional video on this would be greatly appreciated! but this was a great starting point. Also if you can answer me I have some area grayed out on my Z6. Camera says can't use at the camera white balance, set picture control, and even active D lighting...is my camera broken? I've just taken it out of the box? or is it the raw photo setting...thanks
Excellent video, thanks, helped me fine tune a couple things I wasn't sure on. :) One thing I'd like to add about customizing the i menu - you can have a different i menu for each user setting, both photo and video (6 total). I have mine set up for u1 general shooting, u2 sport, u3 macro on photos, u1, u2, u3 on video I'm still working on but likely general HD, HD 120 frames, and then 4k.
@@RicciTalks Very happy with it so far, even though it's been brutal cold to get out and do anything. High ISO on this thing is phenomenal. Looking forward to what you have coming up. :)
Thanks...answered several questions that I had that are NOT covered in the manual. Hope you follow up with the videos you mentioned you would expand on - happy to subscribe!
Hi Ricci, I,m from Peru and your videos help me a lot. I have a Z6 and have this problem, if you are in AF-C and Auto AF with the Godox system, the liveview and de EVF go crazy...can you check this please??? Jason Lanier also do a Z7 review and it happens the same...
I was searching down the comments to find someone mentioning this. That was a bit misleading. Uncompressed and lossless are identical in quality. I read someone suggest choosing lossless may drain the battery a little more as it needs to do the compressing.
Excellent video and the best and most useful of the Z 6 uploads I've watched (much better than the uploads of the crop of Vloggers Nikon flew to Morocco) that is a compliment to the manual and a must download. 5 stars!
Thank you so much. I have a question regarding importing z6 images into Lightroom, it says that a built-in profile has been applied. How can I stop that? Another question, I have an issue with the sharpness. My Z6 does not give as sharp images I expected. Is this because of using F lenses via Ftz?
@ricci talks: Great Video. Vignette Control handles different with the Z6 than on other Nikon cameras. You can't fix vignette in Lightroom if it is not activated in the camera. The Meta-Information forces Lightrooms behavior in the lens correction. So if you wan't to have lens corrections in Lightroom you have to activate them in the camera.
Hi Ricci, I know that I do not have a Z series camera but this was still a very good explanation of setting up a Nikon camera. Thank you for your interesting videos this year and hopefully there will be more coming? Have an amazing 2019.
Very helpful video 👍🏻 I was just wondering what your custom U1, U2, and U3 are. I'm a beginner and I'm still not sure how to adjust as I go for different real life situations. It would be very helpful. Thanks again for your great videos.
I don’t actually use the u1 u2 or u3 settings ... but a lot of photographers do use them and they might have u1 set to sport photography so a fast shutter speed with a fast aperture like f2.8 or F4 and auto iso. Then they might have u2 for landscape so slow shutter speed, f11 aperture and low iso like 100
Hi Ricci, I have a question, some of the focusing modes and other settings are grey and the camera tells me this option is not available at current settings or in the current state of the camera, do you know what is the problem ? Thank you for all great videos and helping me out.
Great thanks! I learned a few new things. Under AF-area mode, my Pinpoint AF is grayed out, what mode is it active? Looking forward to the other videos.
Good stuff, just found this looking for tips on setting up Z6 for film. The picture profile Flat should be a starting point for film but any thoughts on turning down sharpness, contrast etc even further? Anyone having experiences in this area?

Even for an SLR owner these tips are awesome! Because Nikon Has Consistencty which Other Camera makers do not have.

This is a great video for any new Z owner to watch.
I just got my z6 a few days and coming from my z50 i got last yr. I greatly appreciate this video.
This is the best Z6 Video that I have seen! I love the way you explained each menu function. this was thorough and very easy to understand. THANK YOU!

Cheers Ricci you have explained it better than the manual

Thank you!! No nonsense & straight to the point. It was easy to understand and follow.
Brilliant! I keep coming back to refresh my ancient grey matter. Thank you.
Concise, clear and to the point, very helpful and I was at the end of the full 40 minutes before I even realised.
Same!

Abhijeet Sharan I think he already did a great job.
Could definitely look at doing something like that in the future.

Thanks great instruction video just got my new z6 4 days ago it's good to know what most of the setting are for in the menu.

Thanks for the very useful walkthrough! I owned a z7 but it's almost about the same!
Thank you for the detailed video.
Fantastic video! Many thanks! Do you have a .BIN file we can generally use? Peace.
Hi Ricci , thank you for this video. Did you have the chance to see Tony Northrup’s rather negative review of the Nikon Z6? What do you think?
That was really informational. Thank you
Very helpful. Thank you from Germany
Will you be doing this for the Z50?

Isnt lossless compression Also the best quality? Its just compressed right?

Hi, great video! I have a question regarding Raw file sizes. Do you lose dynamic range/quality/bit depth if you shoot at Raw S or M compared to Raw L?
Switching to sensibility 1 or 2 on d10 made my Laowa 100 usable at last, great
Thank you for the walkthrough

Thx for this great video.
Hey, I watched the video, I am just checking for one thing I want which is focus shift. I know the Z7 can do this but can the Z6?
Yeh the Z6 can do focus shift like the Z7 and d850

How did you record the camera screen?
Using an external recorder like an Atomos
