Hey guys, welcome back to another renovation vlog! Sorry this is late coming out, I've had some problems with my laptop - all is sorted now thankfully :)
In today's video you'll see the transformation of the hall, stairs and landing. It was always a part of this house that I really didn't like so after so many years it was really good to finally make it over!
The walls were horrendous underneath the thick textured wallpaper that was up so I had to do the best I could with what I had - it wasn't worth spending hundreds of pounds on getting a plasterer to come in to sort them out and I wasn't confident that I could do a good enough job on the stairs so I used lining paper and a fresh couple of rolls of textured wallpaper. The wallpaper didn't end up being thick enough to cover up all of the lumps and bumps but even still I think that it still looks a hundred times better than before I started!
The cost -
Wallpaper - 4 textured rolls @ £10 each Lining paper £10
Paint - Part tub of crown white emulsion I already had & small amount of Satin @ £16
Carpet - £150 including fitting
Plaster - Left over from living room
Light Shades - £16

Yup, that's quite a transormation. Well done. Given the state of those walls I would consider that a right result.

Great job Laura, just a bit of advice to make life so much easier. Instead of plastering around sockets and switches take them off and use wago connectors. It will make your life so much easier.

Hi laura bathroom looks fab. It never ends does it. Always another job. I can imagine the stairs and landing is a big task. The wallpaper you chose looks good. Lovely alyssia helped out too. You work so hard on it all 😊 xx

I must have missed this one, only just seen it, but it’s an amazing transformation, really like the colour of the carpet, your very good at choosing budget objet d'art that look more expensive than they are, it’s lovely space now, you did amazing considering the crappy base you had to work with, brilliant finish. Looks beautiful Laura! Love the way you styled it too. I know you might have moments where you get frustrated , but you really take on the unknown with such a positive attitude. I’ve got to try to remember that 🙄. How long did the whole job take?
Thank you Kristen 😊 it was 7 days in total - the wallpaper stripping and putting up the new took the longest! I’m not always so positive believe me! I just think what’s the worst that could happen...there’s always a way to fix something if it goes wrong 😊 x
What paint did you use to do bannisters on stair please x
I use Satin paint for woodwork - I used the last of a random old tin then a brand called Berger for the final coat. Hope this helps! X
