I actually just saw she has one kind of like this!! It's called things to doodle in class when youre bored. Not sure if that's what you're looking for but It's about 3 vids down from this one. It's part 3 which means there's 2 more 😃
What looks nice to you. What is something you see that makes you go: “That. I wanna draw like that.” Look at it, study it, BOOM that’s how you draw that now, until you want to change it I also recommend Proko or Sycra if you want tutorials
If you’re unsure I’d recommend using references. I find it helpful to draw a sort of blob in the basic shape of the hand position. If you’re drawing a pose where the fingers are separated, don’t draw around each individual finger, just draw the general outline. Then you can add guidelines, usually one where the knuckles are, and one where the second joint of the fingers are (I mean the joint closer to the palm). Then do a rough sketch, like she says. For adding details, look where shadows and wrinkles fall on the hand, and maybe add tendons on the back of the hand for thinner characters. Using and combining references can help teach to be better at drawing without references. I hope this was helpful, let me know if I missed anything.
My tip is to do the line art with a pencil too, just like in the video. If you use a pen/liner and erase all the pencil sketch, the result may not look so good. But if you keep the pencil lineart a bit messy and sketchy it will look better
Yea that’s true in most cases. Like when you’ve made the sketch it would obviously be messy as it’s just to help guide u, once u decide ur sketch is finished and erase the guide lines and trace it out it then looks incomplete as the guide lines hv been erased.
I used to have this problem too. The solution is to not think of the lineart as simply tracing, but as creating another, more detailed drawing with the sketch as a loose reference. Your lines don’t even have to be very clean. Line weight easily stops it from looking boring if done right. I like making lines thicker around anything I want to bring attention to (especially the eyes). You can also think about lighting and include shadows in your lineart if you like that type of style.
Most important step to learning how to draw something; use some references! It's not 'cheating', references are very helpful for learning the basics and anatomy of body parts + objects! Also, I find it's better to start with drawing the overall shape of something rather than trying to draw every single little detail right away. My hands usually start off as weird squares or pentagons with funky sticks at the ends since those are my preferred shapes/guidelines for the palm/overall hand and fingers! Don't be afraid to experiment with different techniques! Learning what works best for you is the goal!
Honestly since returning to drawing 2 months ago I said fuck it, I’m gonna draw everything that I “hate to draw” (although it was a “don’t know how to draw”) one of those things was hands, and well I’m not that good yet but I discover i was afraid more than anything, for fear of “ruining my drawing” ( wich wasn’t that good but i feel is what a lot of people “suffer”) I was afraid to draw outside of my comfort zone 😂 I have failed more drawings this 2 months than my whole life but I started to enjoy drawing again and I’m kind obsessed, I still kind of hate the hands but I don’t fear them anymore.
So pretttty, i love how she or he adds the nails sharp it really brings out its beauty and captures my eyes into watching and want to learn how to draw hands!
If you don't know the anatomy and perspective for certain angles, it won't work. I mean the trick is just practicing and looking at your own hands for reference.
those hands look better than most of the drawings in my sketchbook"s" but only some cuz im really proud with some of them and i don't wanna make em look bad
Try looking at your hand like it was made out of geometrical shapes. A square or pentagon for the palm, and then 3 little cylinders or long rectangles from the palm (square) for every finger. Tilt them slightly at the places they meet the next one, those will be your joints. This helped me a lot. Then you can draw the outlines and do the details.
In order to draw guidelines, you kind of need to know WHERE to draw guidelines, which was completely skipped. I know this is how YOU draw them and not necessarily a HOW TO draw them, but it's no wonder so many people are still left feeling confused.
I think the best advice for drawing fingers I have observed is that our fingers are straighter than they might seem. Draw straight lines and only curve them at the knuckles.
How to draw hands: step 1. Learn hands anatomy
not really
