I have watched way too many hours of woodworking on YT but, this video is near the top. Jimmy is just cool and he take the everyman approach. Straight forward, simple, honest.....loved this video. He communicates so well. 5 stars.
I love direstas videos. Awesome projects and he makes it approachable. Been watching diresta for years, ever since the basement in New York City. Even so I learn something new every time I watch. That trick cutting the drawer openings is so good!
I think it’s fantastic how you constructed this piece of furniture in such a way that a person of average woodworking ability can easily achieve….well done 👍🇬🇧
I had to cut an inside piece out the other day. I tried to use the oscillating multi for the cut, but it turned out faster to use the pull saw after getting the initial hole cut with the OT. They can be handy, but they have limited use.
Love the island and the tip for laying out where to cut in the bottom shelf. Is there a trick on how to layout the left and right angle of where to make those cuts????
That's a Beautiful Piece. I am planning to make one like that for our kitchen. Did you make the screw holes for attaching top a little larger than the screws to allow some movement in the top? Do you need to worry about that? Thanks

Diresta? Simply the best.

That table look like a million bucks! Beautiful.
A few hours ago, I was just thinking about emptying out all my stains and making one batch together! Nice!!! DD
Really nice classic build. It's gorgeous
Boy that was some beautifully-grained wood to use for internal structures.
Outstanding work... As usual!!
New subscriber here. Mate your videos are amazingly educational and the voiceover style is great. Oh yeah and your work is amazing!
"Won't hold a car inside the drawers"... proceeds to put 1/2" plywood bottom 😂😂😂
I love the way Jimmy works ☺️

WOW... the wood is in your hands!!
Amazing work!!!.....I'd like it with black legs and drawer hardware, but that's just me. I like the burnt wood look with black accents.
I had to cut an inside piece out the other day. I tried to use the oscillating multi for the cut, but it turned out faster to use the pull saw after getting the initial hole cut with the OT.
They can be handy, but they have limited use.
Great job once again.

It looks like ambrosia maple, not spalted maple.

Nice build Jimmy! May I ask what brand that framing square is that you use? The skinny one.
Based on your style, I'm surprised you didn't flip the top (showing off those saw mill marks). This piece of gorgeous

Hi,
Do you have a name and model number for the Robinson screws that you used?
Great Video. Keep up the great work!!

Very nice! Your videos are a little dark, next project perhaps? Cheers from Sweden 🍻
What is that chime sound that comes through every so often? Example: 18:25 and 20:27
Chime sound
It’s probably his computer getting a notification for an email or something while he’s recording the voiceover.
Wood movement concerns screwing it down?
That's not spalted maple; it's Ambrosia maple. But just the same is beautiful wood.
HA! I just published a kitchen island video today too. Definitely not the same.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
$3/bf for spalted maple is robbery! LOL Very lucky find.
*Ambrosia maple, different from spalted maple.
this is the most complicated way to make a table i have ever seen
👍👊
клево!
UNO!
I don't think the spalted would have a very attractive or sturdy leg anyway.
