Hello Nik and Allie, We just returned from being in Italy for three weeks. We went with two 10kg carry-ons and a small backpack each. Your videos were extremely helpful in preparing for our trip. Yes we washed clothes ,a few at a time ,often in the B&Bs. Took the trains or plane for long distance and rented a car for the days spent in each area. For the trip across, I used the melatonin as you suggested and it worked great. My wife didn’t and was disgusted with how well I slept on the flight. Adjusted to the time with no problem. I did use the Holafly eSIM and it was great. I didn’t do my research with my wife’s phone beforehand, and her carrier had her phone locked. We got her a physical SIM card (TIM) that worked good. Just wanted to let you know that we really appreciated your advice and it worked great for us. One suggestion. Tell the people that if there is a chance for rain, put the umbrellas in your backpack. We were a half mile from our B&B (hiking) and 175 meters down when the clouds opened up and our umbrellas were in the room. But the sun was shining when we left. Thanks again!
I love this! So glad we could be of value to you. Great suggestion about the umbrella! I'm curious, would you be okay with me saving part of this testimonial for future use? If so, would you mind sharing your name so I could credit you?
@@rhondillon5056 I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going through China as the cell infrastructure router then out to internet.
*Install* This is something I'd considered but didn't know it was so easy to use! We're hoping to use HolaFly next summer in northern Europe. Thanks for reviewing it!
Watching ALL of your videos to plan for my trip to Europe - love them! Very helpful. Would love to see an install video. Curious - if I install/activate it a day or two before, (& use my US sim) how I switch to Holafly esim once I land? Thanks!
I've seen a lot of videos about this and it's unclear; do I need to turn anything off on my phone when I arrive at my destination or anything on when I return or does the phone just know when to switch on\off my regular carrier?
I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going through China as the cell infrastructure router then out to internet.
What happens if someone calls you on your regular phone number while you are using this? Do you have to cancel your $10 a day plan with Verizon? What do you have to do to go back to your normal Verizon plan after you return from Europe? I would like to see the install procedure also.
Thanks for the video! Heading to Europe soon. All of our countries (10) are listed on Holafy's Europe plan. A few questions. If someone needs to call us from US, do they just call my US number, call my Holafly number, text me to call them from my Europe number or call on WhatsApp? I've never really used it but I have What'sApp. Does WhatsApp work on either sim or do I have to set up a new account on the Holafly sim? Do you recommend getting a plan for me and the wife or have her use my plan via hotspot? Does this work well for sending or uploading iPhone pictures as we travel? Love your channel!
I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going through China as the cell infrastructure router then out to internet.
Hello, very nice video.... Do you know what the speed is? I am wondering if I can use it for working remotely from Mexico on my work laptop? Is there a way to use the data on a laptop ? I have iPhone 12 with windows laptop. Thx
When I was in Austria and Germany last year on Google Fi, there was no phone resetting, it just says welcome to Austria and Welcome to Germany and back to welcome to Austria, etc. As you cross borders.
Thanks for the video, in fact we are planning a vacation for next year and was looking at esim's and have already downloaded the HolaFly App (Android). On question if you can help. we are going first to Spain then to London then back to Spain. So I am going to need one for Spain and another for the UK. Are you able to purchase two esims and switch back and forth between the two. Many thanks
What do you recommend if I cannot unlock my phone because I just signed a new service contract? Can I use an old phone with no cellular service to install e-sim?
Hi, thanks for the details information. I have T-Mobile and the carrier covers Europe. Typically when I am in Europe I can send text home to family without extra charge. With the eSIM can I still text from my phone back to the US without extra charge? Or in case of emergency can my family call me? Do I get a new phone number while I use eSim?
I called Verizon and asked if I turn off roaming and used an eSIM would I be able to have data and the agent told me I would also have to turn on airplane mode to not be charged the $10/day. I asked if I could use eSIM data in airplane mode and he said No. it sounds like Verizon has made it so that we cannot use an eSIM. Have you heard anything about that?
Install please,I tried to use a eSIM last fall on a trip to England and could not seem to get it to work phone kept defaulting to my phone plan at home that ending up costing me a fortune,it was another carrier,we are going back next spring would like to try Thanks
I bought one for a 30 day trip to Italy. I thought I got one for Italy. They gave an Austrian number which was 13 digits long not counting the country code. The data worked fine, but I thought it was a pain. If I had to verify a credit card with text messaging I couldn’t. I couldn’t check my text messages back home. 🎉It cost me $60. For $90 I could have used my own number. I won’t do it again. It’s not worth the trouble.
Ugh! Im having the worst time finding anything for New Caledonia. Literally no one has plans for them. And my new google phone has no sim card. Any advice!?
Nik, quick question. I have looked into HolaFly and I am a Verizon customer. I also have an iPhone 14. Can you tell me what my settings need to be while using Hola in Europe so I don't accidentally use my Verizon account.
HolaFly eSims are extremely expensive but I suppose they have to be to pay for all the sponsored content. My advice is to shop around before purchasing an eSIM. For example, I'll be visited the Philippines soon. HolaFly offers 20 days of "unlimited data" for USD$54. Alternatively, Airalo offers 30 days with 3GB for USD$9.50 with other data options available. Perhaps not a direct comparison but for the budget conscious traveller I wouldn't be choosing HolaFly anytime soon.
I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going through China as the cell infrastructure router then out to internet.
This Guy is misinformed, they do not always partner with local providers. They partner with China Mobile and when you roam you are actually roaming using China Mobile. And that’s bad because the data is routed to China or Hong Kong then out to internet

Would love to see install. Always helpful. Everyone says something is so easy….its never easy, there is usually a step or tip.
Agree about 'it's easy' statement. Always easy when you already know 😂

Thanks! Headed to Australia. Just used your links to signup for the VPN & HolaFly. I sincerely appreciate your content and find it extremely helpful.
Great summary of HolaFly, Nik! I like their Europe rates - very competitive!
Very informative and well produced video, cheers!
I've never traveled outside the U.S. and this video was super helpful. I would love to see the INSTALL, just to make sure I don't mess it up.
I will have my Apple Watch when I travel abroad so will Holafly cover my cell phone and my Smart Watch or do I need something different?

make sure your regular carrier’s Data Roaming isn’t on, to be safe, turn off the line, only turn it on if need to receive one time passcode.

Only under WIFI put your phone on airplane mode so that no roaming can be done

Hi Nik, I am from Argentina flying to the US 15 days, will Holafly include a US phone to call and SMS? Tks
great idea - - - but limited phone compatibility, so not good for me. . . . .
But how do you get sms from your bank or other places that will send you verification codes?
What happens on a Mediterranean Cruise?

I was wondering about the comparison between those two eSims. Thanks for this comment.
One big distinction, however, is that HolaFly also includes unlimited data text and calling.... If I am understanding it all correctly
I used Holafly then when I activated and used it, it turns out I was connected/Roaming through China Mobile and all my data was going through China as the cell infrastructure router then out to internet.
Can you have more than one e-SIM? I am already using an e-SIM
yes
Both active at once?
Yeah, if you want. I'm on Iphone and it each eSIM has its toggler switch to turn it on/off (you can switch on both)@@Sibhusky
Sure you can use part of my comment.

you have to UNLOCK your phone before using Holafly
So, this is just a commercial for ONE company, and not a very good one.
