You are so talented and thoughtful in your delivery. I admire your passion to share not just your musical talent, but your hands on approach to get there. It's clear that you are making use of your live performance skills, because to someone else, controlling three devices at the same time like this seems pretty difficult! Btw, I agree this seems like the ideal way to route these machines by letting it affect the Digitone but not the Digitakt. That's where the Microcosm can shine without taking over the entire groove.
Hey David, thank you so much for the lovely feedback - really appreciate that! :) But I can tell you that for me as well it is hard to control these three boxes at the same time without getting lost. I'm getting used to it more and more but it's still hard to not loose the focus haha. And having a machine (in my case the Digitakt) which acts as the master device and this way kind of leading the way is very helpful for me. Cheers David and have a great weekend!
Cheers Dan! So cool to hear that the Microcosm content is also appreciated by the people. Love this little pedal and looking forward to using it even more in the future. :) Works so well with the Digitone
Hey Rob my dude, good to see you here! Yeah freeze is super nice to freeze a small audio loop on the fly and add effects to it. But the phrase looper is even more versatile, here you can layer different loops on top of each other and get crazy with these - didn't even dive into that feature yet! Keep it up and all the best for your gig on Sunday - I'm at a wedding and think I won't make it but I hope I can rewatch it. :)
Thanks a lot, Carlos! I can definitely recommend this pedal, it's super nice - love the vibe it adds a lot to the combo. Currently working on the jam hope to share it soon! 🙂
Thank you! Audio wise I’d go from the Digitone’s outs to the input of the Microcosm and then from there outs of the Midrocosm to your interface/Mixer. If you’d want the Microcosm to be tempo syncd to the Digitone I’d also suse a MIDI cable from the Digitone’s MIDI out to the Microcosm MIDI in
Same as my setup, thou I have a Deluge in place of Digitakt, nice synergy going on.. ohh the looper, I have saved samples into it, from other synths, Sirin, great to mix in... the time knob affects some settings, since it's macro, eg arp , pattern, not in the manual, you'll find out. I also use blokas midihub, so sends start n stops, thou if an effect don't kick in, push the select knob..sonic bliss, looking forward to more videos and see what your talent creates. Keep em comming :-)
Hey Kevin, Deluge+Digitone+Microcosm sounds like a great setup as well! And yeah, I really need to dive deeper into the looper as it's such a cool and powerful feature. Thanks for the hint with the time knob as well - didn't know that and will definitely try it out, really loving the arp presets! Keep on jamming and thanks for your great comment! :)
Thank you so much to your GREAT this VIDEO and amazing pedal Microcosm. I have the pedal Empress Zoia and I am thinking about this pedal from Hologram, too. THANKS & GOOD LUCK !
Hey Cti, great to see you here too and thanks a bunch for your good wishes. The Zoia looks amazing too and I think it offers amazing opportunities for sounddesign - you can't go too wrong with either of those pedals :)
great video man!!! I will start to work with the Digitone, Microcosm and the MpC One. I hope it works so I can change the patterns and to turn on and off the voices in the Digitone with the MPC . regards Paul
Microcosm takes an expression pedal, so maybe that would solve the problem of smoothly fading in and out the filter/mixer combo. Thanks for showing your setup.
You're welcome, Rogan! That's indeed a great idea, didn't know that the Microcosm can be controlled with an expression pedal. But I realize the more I use the Microcosm, the more I get used to all the settings and controls :)
Hey Stanley, good point that I didn't really realize till I shot this video: This is done by the Microcosm effect and an LFO on some of the Digitone sounds doing some fake sidechaining. But as both devices (Digitone and Microcosm) are running through the DTs compressor they're slightly sidechained by the Kick on the Digitakt. Absolutely didn't do that on purpose but I have to admit that I like the groove this adds to the jam. Cheers!
Thanks a lot for the video. I am having trouble getting my microcosm to be midi sync'd with my DT and DN like yours. Can anyone please explain the midi settings? I have a keystep 37 -> Digitakt (brain) -> Digitone -> microcosm but can't figure this out. my DT has midi clock, transport, prog ch send " ON " my DN has midi clock, transport, prog ch receive " ON ". I thought I could use the midi out of my tone?
another great video....(BTW, in both these videos, you seem to interchange the terms Digitone and Digitakt incorrectly).....great explanations and examples of the features, excellent upload
Hey Will, thank you so much, I really appreciate that and am glad that you like my videos! :) Just a quick question: what do you mean by interchange the terms? Cheers!
It seems to me that, in both of your videos, you confused the names - calling the Digitakt the Digitone, etc. Maybe I'm wrong - either way, it's not important, as I'm sure everyone understood what you meant.....
@@willswitchcraft ahhhh now I got what you mean - and you're totally right haha. Sometimes I confuse them but it's good to hear that it's still clear what I'm talking about. Cheers! :)
I'm sold on the Microcosm Miles, wonderful video, I can't wait to see another like this with these 3. What mixer do you use by the way? I need to get one
Cheers Andy and happy to hear that! I'm really enjoying the Microcosm more and more but it's definitely a way deeper device than I initially thought, opening a lot of new possibilities. Love it! As a Mixer I'm using the Arturia Audiofuse Studio which is both an audio interface and a mixer in one device. Very good device that I can also recommend!
Hey dude, I'm using the sequencers on both machines separately (this way I can use the Digitone's arp which I love) but the Digitakt is sending mute controls and MIDI clock to the Digitone. Cheers! 🙌🏻
Great video and great pedal. Thanks, Miles! Have you tried to manipulate Microcosm’s parameters via MIDI CC? According to the manual it should be like this: CC8 - filter, CC9 - mix. In this case you can automate your movements.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I haven't tried it yet but I've seen other people doing it and it looks super fun - will definitely be something I will try out in the future! 🙂
@@MilesKvndra at 10:00 for instance, when you unmute tracks on the DT, the DN sounds start pumping. So I was guessing that u use the DT compressor with its kick track for sidechaining. If so, how do u have the compressor set up? it sounds really nice and to me its hard to get it right without loosing the kicks punch. Parallel compression I guess?
@@evenmind-music ah okay, get what you mean! microcosm has all parameters available through midi cc, so you can map your DT controls and PLock

Does the microcosm accept midi cc in? You can create a midi track in DT with P-locks to send fill parameters without touching the knobs
