Opening the movie with a long battle was the best way to ensure the viewer gets engaged from the start.
The introduction of the new characters was smooth too. From the first scenes we determine that Nishi is a calm person, yet competitive, hotheaded and reticent to change. Tamaki is excited for a battle, impulsive, and as laid back as Nishi. Fukuda haphazardly rushed into a fight, but is the only one from Chi-ha-tan willing to develop to new tactics. Klara, the only real Russian from Pravda, marks the birth of the recurring joke about Katyusha disliking when people are talking in a foreign language around her. Then we get the enthusiastic Rosehip whose personality made her a fan favorite. I've seen a lot of posts about her to state that.

Just glad youre alright. Love listening to my favorite source of GuP stuff. Are you planning on covering news regarding the series or theories as to the future of it? :)

@@MomoKawashima5 thanks! I’ve definitely considered covering some GuP news-related stuff, though I definitely more enjoy talking about the show itself. But when we get big stuff like announcements of the release date of Das Finale 5, etc, I’ll probably make a quick video.

Nothing really huge this battle, both storywise and strategywise, at least on the surface, but it does introduce many new characters and two new schools in Keizuko and Chi-Ha-Tan. It's the perfect beginning to the new chapter of Girls und Panzer.
It's nice to see everyone coming together to have fun in a playful exhibition match to help ease us back into the series as a whole. And it helps set up the main battle in the latter half of the movie with the massive amounts of foreshadowing.
It's not my favorite battle in terms of story, but it's definitely enjoyable and one I remember fondly. It's silly fun with lots of amazing callbacks from all the battles of season 1.
Still kinda miffed about Oarai losing, as the massive Oarai fan that I am, but it was done in such a way that made sense, was a total sudden shock with how close Oarai was to winning, and shows that no team is undefeatable. And it was a good way to keep up the fact that Oarai never beat St Gloriana before, setting up the final match in Das Finale.
Overall a really nice and fun with lots of smaller moments to help ease us back into the series and set up the rest of the movie. I like it a lot.
Nice to see another video after so long. And it was a really great one. Thanks for the amazing analysis video and I can't wait for the next one, even if it takes another month or so. But until then, take care Ascendant.

    Hi.
I wish you'd update your site. LOAW books aren't in the books section and there's no blog post in forever. Plus browsing the blog posts is based on the month instead of say 10 posts per page, so I have to keep checking one month after another to find the relevant one where I want to post a comment.
About volume 9 of LOAW: it doesn't seem like there's much difference between the first fight and the last fight in terms of the balance of power, so why did the mercs hold back and draw the team to them instead of just finishing it right away?
About volume 10, chapter 4: I really wish Uriel would have given a speech explaining how the Pantheon was buying and kidnapping innocent human children in order to do horrific things to them, denouncing the Pantheon for these acts, and explaining that what he's about to do is because one of the people who were knowingly procuring children for this was based in this city. I'd have loved to read that speech, and the reactions of the residents.
Also, I want to read LOAW as a manga. Any chance this will happen?

@@Lestibournes I hope to overhaul the site in the not too distant future and figure out exactly what I want to have on there long-term. (Been a busy last couple months, and the website wound up being one of the things that got de-prioritized.
As far as a Light Unto Another World manga, I’d love to do one at some point; I already have given some thought to how to take advantage of the different medium for an adaptation, such as being able to show things happening outside of Uriel’s point of view. Unfortunately, I can’t say when or if that’ll happen. At present I don’t have a big enough audience to make it a good idea-it’s not a great idea from a marketing point of view to put all my eggs in a single proverbial basket, which is why I went with Amaranth Angels as my first manga project instead. It’s also an expensive, time consuming process, so I’d have to fit it into a schedule with my other projects. Long story short, I’d love to do a manga version at some point, but can’t say for certain if or when that’d happen.

@ascendantfiction7220 thanks for the reply. I just finished volume 10 again. The buildup, the twist, the ending, and the epilogue were all so satisfying. Please finish the next season already. I really want to read what happens next.
It would be nice if before the next printing you fixed all the typos. There are many cases of missing quotation marks, or some sentences that are incomplete or where it seems like you changed the phrasing mid sentence. It breaks my immersion. I thought of helping you by marking all the errors, but I don't want to mark up my books. They're too precious.
I hope that you expand the selection of standees. I have Kirala and Akirui, but I'd love to have all the team, all the swords, and all the Pantheon of Five.
It really feels like a miss that we don't see Uriel investigate more about the Demon Lord threat and what the Pantheon have against Demis. I feel like we should have seen him interrogate Karen more. Also, why not give her an order to switch her existence off as quickly as possible if he or any of his team are eliminated? Or he could give her detailed instructions on what an order means before the battle, then just give a one word order during the battle, which packs all the detailed instructions within it.
Uriel's power is light. Light is the part of the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the eye. Could it be that he can actually control all the spectrum and doesn't know it? Could he manipulate microwaves, radio waves, infra red, ultra violet, x rays, and gamma radiation? He should be able to produce lasers or whatever it is without using lenses. It's extremely concentrated light.

@ thanks! Right now I’m about 20% of the way through volume 14’s first draft, and have already done the initial revision of volume 11. Art for these volumes will begin as soon as work on Amaranth Angels is done, and once at least the covers are ready I’ll launch the kickstarter campaign, though I can’t say exactly when that’ll be yet.
Regarding typos, we do our best to catch them all, but there are always some that slip though, especially less blatant ones. I keep a log of any I or readers find once a book is out though, and forward the corrections to my formatters who make the necessary changes to the files.
And yes, I do plan on doing standees of at least all the members of Uriel’s team (and probably some other character too). It’s just a matter of arranging the necessary artwork.

Basically what I'm saying is that Uriel could be a walking talking nuke.
The big mysteries that are currently driving me crazy with theories and speculation. What use are the 4 swords when the four swords together are weaker than one member of the Pantheon.
What do the Pantheon have against Demis? Why do they refer to them as a threat to the world?
Who is the demon lord? Since the actions and rituals of the Pantheon are so similar to those of demons, could it be that the Demon Lord is actually the good guy? Or perhaps the Pantheon are themselves demons? Or maybe they are imitating him and his methods in order to gain power and abilities?
Given their names and the fact that the hero summoning brought people from earth, could it be that the Pantheon are originally from earth too?

@@ascendantfiction7220 Let me join your team as a beta reader and I'll catch all your typos. And I'll still pay full price for printed copies.
I also write. I'm reviewing volume 4 of my own amateur fantasy isekai series right now, although it's of a very different nature compared to the mainstream. Maybe that's why I'm so drawn to your work. We're both olim from the US and fans of Japanese media that are trying to create good fun popular fiction that expresses our values, faith, and identity, each in our own way, and based on your writing we seem to have similar attitudes. You're just way more successful at it than I am.
The Dragon Hand is your best work so far. It's the most polished, most mainstream, and most subtle by having no overt messaging or similarities to reality and instead simply having characters that express your values through the way in which they think, their choices, actions, and attitude. The Dragon is a bit like Joseph in Egypt. I don't even know if that's an intentional parallel or not.
