I followed exactly what you did and when I rushed Chalon i was met with about 10 knights, at least half a dozen scorpions and half a dozen crossbowmen. I just can't compete.
@@M.KutrzebaIt was either HD or DE, both on steam. I can't remember which one, but it was probably DE. I ended up eventually beating it on Hard difficulty.
@6638So do not be surprised, DE/HD was created by modders who changed the core of this game. Without playing on slow speed, pause or beeing a madman who is clicking every second of game you won;t get much chance on hard. I am not sure, but on this video guy played original campaign. EIDT - no, it wasn;t original campaign, there are petards. But still, maybe with Conquerors.
The point in time, where I deinstalled AOEII definitive edition. Even with your "tutorial", I was not able to withstand the enemy, although playing on easy. What a bad way of game design, just frustrating and time consuming, no fun at all.

Petards so OP. They helped me clear this mission xD
Looks easy. And I've been struggling for several ours now xD
You are lucky that the enemy ignored your petards.
Lmao that's the exact same strat I just used
Is this the hard version?
