  • The engine of this Jaguar XJ40 is worth more money as scrap aluminium than as a complete engine..
De motor van deze Jaguar XJ40 is meer waard aan aluminium dan als motor..

@timlad5 The same overhere, the car was purchased for a couple of 100's to be used in a destruction derby. For this race they swap the engine with a Ford v6, the original engine is scrapped for the aluminium, which is worth more than the running engine.
Driving this car on the road is too expensive and only real enthousiasts would do that.

That's the thing I think with every car we ever got.. Sometime long ago someone was really happy with this car which he bought for a lot of money, cherished it, proudly showed it to friends, went on holiday with it, they would get angry if someone damaged or dirtied it... finally it ends up in our place as scrap metal, at least this car will be remembered.

Holy fuck you people are sensitive. It was an old piece of shit jag with a gutless engine. Yeah, it was fairly tough, but fundamentally old jags were some of the least reliable cars around. Oh wow 325 thousand kilometres that's so much! Please, my dad's daily driver ford f-150 has over 450 thousand and still running without a problem (it's the 4.6 liter V8 by the way). Anyway, the body was fucked, and that's the only thing on these old jags that's worth anything. And you may be thinking "well they could've done something better than kill it" no, not really. It was headed for the scrapyard, where I'm sure there's plenty more of these with running engines.

Totally agree , the Merlin engine built by Rolls Royce used in the Spitfire had the jerry's and their infamous Luftwaffe running with their tales between their legs. That Aircraft and engine used is another prime example of British engineering . So please Uber when referring to one of our beloved Big Cats (jaguar) use your words carefully. The filler cap is a slight design flaw but was designed to be easy to fill up at fuel stations.

Your "british engineering" is just one aspect of it all. Don't be cocky, without the help of America etc you guys would've been nowhere either and please don talk me about your "Jaguars", they never run a hundred miles without problems. What? I drive a 1972 XJ12. The older, V12 version of this car. It's really not expensive. I use it daily, in conjunction with my old Landy as a work and private vehicle. Fuel is a little pricey, what with a 5.3 litre V12, but not ridiculous. Tax is free, insurance is low, maintainence is minimal. Even if the engine is worth more in peices, break it down, sell things like the manifolds, cams, cranks, valves, pistons, and whatnot. Make more cash, save on petrol, and leave a poor Jag in peace.

Such a shame, the AJ6 engine in these things, is a work of art. Take it out, strip it down, polish the block, very cool wine rack!. Or, make a space frame, take the running gear, shove it into that, front subframe, rear axle, transmission, suspension, and have a rather interesting track toy. However, this one sounded a little tired, probably a blown head gasket.....again, repairable.

As a Jaguar enthusiast with 13 Jags I'd like to try this with a 7 series bmw or V8 Merc and see thay last as long the AJ6 Engine fitted to this Jaguar was a very sturdy and reliable engine!

идиоты! технику жалко, ну не нужна машина ну отдайте кому нибудь кто её сделает и она еще послужит. вообще не понимаю что тут за удовольствие такое, извращенное наверное понятие об этом у этих существ...

This car was bought to be used for a destruction derby and therefore the engine is swapped with a Ford v6. The original engine is worth more as scrap for the aluminium than as a complete engine.

The engine is wonderful, the car itself was still good for using... Why would someone do that to a car that is still running?

And i just hate when we can´t drive ours. Its just masterpiece. I´m just sad because in 10 years, how many of XJ40s are still here? Its like WWII airplanes, got scrapped and now everybody are looking for them to get them to museums or in flight condition. Sad about the Jag, expensive but still great car!

You can find a complete car for 300 euro. The engine is worth more as scrap then as an engine, so it doesn't matter if it's destroyed

It isn't "just a car". It is a Jag and a Jag never is own's but history's

It’s a fucking car. It’s just a hunk of useless metal unless someone does something with it.
Cars are cars. A way to go from point A to point B. The way you go from those points varies. And yes, they owned that steel. It is ownable.

@38911bytefree The car is already gone, so I can't make another video with it. Sorry..we won't share Yvonne, but you can bring your cars and she will break'em for you ;-)

      I agree lmao
that engine gets put right on the rev limiter for 5 minutes and still starts after being on fire. Darn impressive.

Ford 2 litres cologne v6 like used in Ford Granada, Capri and many more. These are slow, but bulletproof. You can run these without oil or water, they will lock up and after cooling down it will start again.

@MatejTg94 We needed place and this car belongs to a friend of mine who wants to use it for bangerracing. He was going to scrap the engine for the aluminium, it's worth more than a running engine.
