Be praying for y'all. Have seen you and Ms. Lippy just been getting hammered up north with rain. Before ya know it the garden will be a rockin and a rollin. Interested to see how those buckets work out all season. Thank y'all for sharing and have a blessed day.

Like you, we here in NE Texas have been getting wicked storms with lots of rain. I decided last year that I'm just not starting thing early as I've lost too many tomato plants, etc. to high winds and storms each spring. This really isn't something new, I seem to have built my house in a microclimate which manifests itself into a wind tunnel each March - April. I'll just do determinates and the peppers and such starting in May. I'll put out lettuce and broccoli and a few others early because they can take a bit more abuse and they are easier to cover if needed. I'm experimenting with several Asian veg as they are said to be able to take the heat of our summers and I'll do the main crop tomatoes and peppers for fall harvest. Your corn should bounce back nicely with some light fish (or equivalent) emulsion foliar spray. Corn is a determined grower once it gets it's roots going. Let's hope May has kinder weather for us all!

Mother nature is still not being nice, we just got 2 more inches today.
My corn was up to about 3 feet tall, and the wind laid it over.
I always plant to early trying to get ahead of the heat because we go from nights in the 40 & 50's to daytime in the 90's.
But this year one rain after the other has really taken a toll on my mindset for next years Garden.

Hopefully that rain will pass on and come down this way.
I sent you a video on mother nature. She just has a mind of her own sometimes.

It sure makes a man want to give up sometimes, but we just have to thank the Lord and move on.

The onions are nice. I never seem to be able to successfully grow them. This will be my 3rd year trying.

For what all Mother Nature has sent their way, the onions did fairly well.

Its the light causing algae growth, need black buckets, lids and hoses to avoid algae. As the summer heats up the water in the buckets, the ability of the water to hold oxygen lessens, ideally the water would be 68 degrees. Sorry about the storms, hang in there!

I should have painted the bucket. I may try changing it out to a black bucket and see what happens.

I think I’m gonna plant sum sweet corn in one of my raised beds

If you paint the bucket black it shouldn’t grow algae

I did a bed last year and it made around 40 good ears of sweet corn.
