Dominicana 🇩🇴 🌟 here enjoying your amazing songs. I am really enjoying your song! I do have some Scandinavian ancestry as I have come to find out. I can see this beautiful piece of music about the two sisters is a Norwegian music. 💛
This song means a lot to me. When I first listened to it, it just had a mysterious but cozy vibe. I then translated it into German, my mother's tongue, and was surprised by the gruesome lyrics. It reminds me of German folk tales, which are often quite gruesome as well. Greetings from Saarland ❤

It's been a number of years sence I've listened to this song, and tonight. I have just been reminded of something. Some feeling I can't explain. One that bring me to tears. I feel like I miss something I've never experienced.
I listen to the album 'Lys' on Spotify very often and 'Harpa Toner' is so addictive. I can listen to it again and again. I love all the songs on that album, but 'Harpa Toner' is my favorite :) Thank you for creating such magical music. Much love and light from Denmark
The lyrics are very similar in vein to the Irish folk song "There were two sisters side by side" - the elder sister pushed the younger into a swamp where she drowns because the elder wanted to the younger's beau.
I too hear the similarity, There is a Scottish version that sounds even more similiar called The Cruel Sister. Another version is Binnorie, and another that sounds most simillar is Lay the Bent To the Bonnie Broom. Must have hundreds of variants, all sad and lovely.
i agree with all these comments what an amazing piece. also thats what you get for killing your sister for her husband... careful what seeds you sow, you cant hide from their harvest. looked up the lyrics to try and understand what it was you were singing about
The lyrics are interesting. It would be easy to think it's a song about a beautiful sister and an ugly sister... but it says both the sisters are in fact beautiful... but the younger sister "walks ahead like a sun"... while the older sister "follows her like a worm in the soil". So it's a song about envy and how the older sister feels overshadowed by her sister even though she is in fact also beautiful herself - she just cannot appreciate it because of the other's happiness and because she wants the man that she has.
I found this song when I looked through the packages on a humble software bundle, where Nature Manufacture had used this song in a demo about a river. This is so far my favorite song I've heard from you, I listened to all videos you had put up until I found this one.
@@Tom_Quixote My thoughts exactly... and now "Två Systrar" av Garmarna också. All are great but I love Sorten Muld's version. Being scandinavian myself it's fun to compare the lyrics between the danish, norwegian and swedish interpretations.

Det bodde en bonde ved en strand
Harpa toner var og fin
To fagre døtre hadde han

Huh, so this is the story of the Bonny Swans, but in Norwegian and a different tune. That's pretty neat.
There are many versions of this song. I think it goes way back.
A completely different musical version is "To Søstre" by Sorten Muld.
