"Friar Tuck... I don't think anyone is coming."
"I know, Sexton, but... these old church-bells will at least give the poor people some comfort... we must do what we can to keep their hopes alive!"
"How can there BE any hope with that tyrant prince John taxing the heart and soul out of the poor people?"
That helps me more than you know.
here you go 1:47
@Minstrel Piece Theater
Friar Tuck: Your last farthing? Why, little sister! This is the greatest you can give! Bless you both!
@Minstrel Piece Theater
Friar Tuck: Well, it's raining now. Things can't get much worse.
Such a beautiful song. I wish Disney made movies with as much heart as Robin Hood had. What a wholesome movie.
I agree. Eat the rich.
one of the only disney movies where moral superiority is more important than falling in love.
Disney panders to wokeism now.. Sadly have you seen all the warnings and labels now..
I mean the warning labels are necessary……a lot of the films made during that era depicted harmful stereotypes that still negatively affect us POC to this very day. And what’s even worse is that these stereotypes ruin otherwise great films like Peter Pan and Dumbo by breaking the escapism and reminding us about the terrible ways minorities were treated back then.
@@wjsproductions1784 good lord remember the days when we could tell. Jokes and laugh about ourselves? Mom jokes.. Black jokes... Jew jokes.. White jokes...fat jokes... Those were the days everyone is offended now we have to do warning labels on all these yet killing and murdering in games and watching family guy is fine..
I appreciate this song a lot more as an adult than I was a kid.
As a kid we were all oblivious to what songs were meaning, but as adults you finally understand to the point where it's relatable.
Me too! So depressing. I think many of us now really know what it's like to feel this way.
Exactly! Me too.
Especially a few years back, what with the pandemic.
I think we all appreciate movies a lot more when we’re grown, cause when you’re a kid, this is just normal life with your bursting imagination.
It's so shocking how even though the villains were treated as a joke with a hilarious chase scene at the archery tournament, it shows that even the most incompetent villian can be a threat. Arresting everyone and litterally trying to execute Friar Tuck
Sounds like most cops these days.
Yes. The scene where Prince John is stewing and seething on his throne is scary.
There is just so much emotion in this song. I'm 36 years old, and I still find myself singing it.
I’m still trying to find myself
You me both, I'm 35 this April and the amount of nostalgia this movie has and this song.
36 as well. Learned it on guitar. Cheers.

Just rewatched the scene where Friar tuck finally has had enough and drives the sheriff out of the church, that scene just hits differently now and so does this song
@@RachelAnn27 I I I vochu bub job hi bub b bub
Always one of my favorite scenes. As a child i rooted so hard for tuck while the sherrif was surprised and on the back foot. And then the cruel confidence on sherrifs face once the tide began to turn. And the inevitable outcome as even a child learns that the good guys cant win that way.
GET OUTTA MY CHURCH
I remember as a kid *really* wanting Tuck to somehow win that fight - and only end up cuffed by someone ambushing him *after* he took down the Sheriff and made him look a fool. The Sheriff was *asking* for it, and Tuck let him have it. "GET OUTTA MY *CHURCH!* OUT! OUT! OUT!!" Damn, Friar, you've *had* it, haven't you? "You want *taxes?!* I'LL GIVE YOU *TAXES!*" And *really* gave him what's for. I love it. Would have loved for the Friar to have laid him out, if not there, at least by the end of the movie.
Reminds me of that Jewish rabbi at Canadian police during Covidian lockdownerism. “GET OUT! NAZIS!”
Disney should return to this kind of productions - as a kid this movie taught me so much more about life than the new movies they have been releasing. You learn a lot more from the melancholy themes of this movie. i love this song !!!!
Honestly. Ever since they stopped doing stuff with Buena vista
Last movie that Disney/Disney Pixar taught us something was back in 2014 or whenever they made Brave. Most of what they have done for Movies has sucked, even almost ruining a franchise they bought, Star Wars. They had a few TV show and reboot TV shows that worked to give a message but even then you had to stretch it for a few of them.
*saved Star Wars, ftfy.
Also, I don’t think you’ve really seen any new Disney movies from the last 10 years. Inside Out takes a lot of pages from actual childhood psychology and Coco and Encanto are great for teaching kids and their parents about how to effectively deal with intergenerational trauma and about healing together as a family.
Don’t get me wrong, Disney isn’t completely flawless. Most of their live-action remakes have been atrocious and the horrible way they’ve treated their screenwriters, actors and VFX artists is downright inhumane. But they’ve still put out a lot of really good stuff over the last few years.
Disney hasn’t had good music in their movies since the 90s.
damn this song is amazing... it's utterly heartbreaking, always loved it as a kid, haven't listened to it in a really longtime and as an adult it just floored me with tears.
same man...
I hated it when i was a kid. For my adult self, it speaks volumes.
It almost brings me to tears everytime. It translates and reverberates
I don't even know why but it brings me to tears too, thought it was just me.
This movie is the reason I love Foxes XD
this is the single greatest disney movie. the characters, the heart behind everything, it's simply wonderful and beautiful. plus this song never fails to leave me in tears.
I agree but I’ve managed to keep my tears in somehow still sad though
The Sword in the Stone is better but Robin Hood is a very close second.
Roger Miller is easily in the top 10 underrated song writers ever. Me and my mom used to sing this every time I watched the movie which was a few times a week. She passed in Dec 2020. This song has a whole new speacial meaning. Love you mom. And thank God for Roger Miller
Some songwriters don't want to have to deal with all the bullshit that comes with "not-underrated fame". Like a copy writer. Easier to just do what you love without all the toxic politics that come with it.
It’s been a couple years at this point sorry, I am so late here I just wanted to say I’m sorry to hear that you lost your mom.
@@mysteryneophyte thank you my friend. That pain never leaves unfortunately but I am happy for her. She is no longer in pain. I truly appreciate your kind words. God bless you and yours.
Some still get it! And always will. Roger Miller was so damn great!
Let's be honest... This wasn't in your recommended videos...Some typing happened...
Yes definately 🥲
When it fades to the organ my heart shatters
I love the organ. I love it at the beginnin of "Faith" by George Michael.
Me too , I'm listening to it right now & just like the scene with Friar Tuck, The Mice & the poor box, its raining today, I'm super cozy inside . . . Blissszzz!
For a long time you couldn't get a decent proper soundtrack for Robin Hood. I never really understood why considering that it's one of the most popular Disney films. So glad it's finally been released !
You and me sister. 😔
Same
mine too😔❤️
When Robin Hood surprised the kid with a bow and arrow :)
Man, Disney had heart.

Every town

Outnumber the downs

If we were so down
We'd up and leave
We'd up and fly
if we had wings for flying
Can't you see the tears we're crying?
Can't there be some happiness for me?
Not in nottingham
I always thought the raccoons are actual criminals. They even run away holding the money with smirks on their faces.
Disney outdid themselves, picking a genius like Roger Miller to write songs for the movie. It’s like one of those songs, where you forget it’s for a movie, especially for a Disney one, and it stands out on its own so well all these years later.
This song still gets to me. Especially when the organ starts playing 😢 it hits hard knowing the struggles in the world are real 😭
My one and only favorite song in the world... as a boy me and my mother used to watch this movie. She didn't speak a lick of English but she felt this man's pain
That’s an absolutely beautiful story in such short words. I don’t know you or your mother but I love you both. Thanks for sharing….
While other individuals will have kids singing frozen, if I have kids they'll be on the OG Disney classics like this gem
Haha by then Frozen will probably be a classic!
There's nothing wrong with kids loving Frozen. At one point in time, this was the "new stuff."
@@MistyeyedNStarrified true, but lets be honest, frozen sucks compared to robin hood
@@Ryan-pq6ej That's just your opinion. If I am being honest, Frozen is far superior to me, and I'm saying this as a 39-year-old who grew up on classic Disney. Robin Hood was one of my favorites when I was very young, along with Pinocchio. Nothing can stop The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, though.

I felt that.
I started my own pirate radio station just to play this song on the radio. At least once a day I’ll play at least one of Roger Miller’s Robin Hood songs because the community I’m from needs and deserves it….
We’ve had parents lose children to cancer days after them being diagnosed because of the water here. The local and state government has done nothing for them. Federal won’t even touch it, especially if you look at several other communities and their water quality. The least I can do is give a commercial free non profit public voice in a community that has zero public access opportunities. People are free to tell their stories and I try to play songs that aren’t commonly heard on the radio that’s relevant to what’s going on. I strongly implore others to do the same for their communities. It’s fairly simple if you do the research.
Please, God don’t ever let Disney remake this movie. Please
Who's drivin this flying umbrella!? One of the greatest lines/scenes from any movie ever!
For how little Disney spent on the animation of the Bronze era movies, they all had amazing soundtracks.
Wasn't it hand drawn animation at the time?
This song gives me a sort of sad, contemplative comfort. Like someone wrapping an arm around you and just sitting besides you while you are being sad. Anyone else?
reaching the end of your rope, or even breaking your rope completely off, is often a time where you can really step away from it all and take a look at yourself for what you really are.
And although even _you_ won't like what you see, there's still Someone who does, mistakes and wrongdoings and all
@@hobomike6935 That's right.
@@hobomike6935 That's right. :-) I kinda examined myself thoroughly in the past 2 years and there were many things I wasn't pleased to find, but I also grew way stronger and I now know myself much better than before. Shadow work is amazing, trust me.

Still such a beautiful song. Brings up good childhood memories.
The soundtrack to this film had no business being this fantastic. Imagine the studio exec at Disney green-lighting Roger Miller. His tunes damn near made the film.
The song was heartbreaking and sad
And given what we’ve been through over the last 10 months with the pandemic and BLM and especially what’s Happened in Washington it makes the song more relevant than usual😞

My grandparents took me to Disney World when I was young. I have fond memories of the park itself, howver the RV park we stayed in had an openm theater. It played Robin Hood with "live" Chip and Dale actors and I will always cherish this as a favorite memory.
That moment when you realize 'Chip and Dale' actually means chipmunks.
As a kid from Nottingham this really does hit different for me
This movie has the single most underrated and underappreciated soundtrack of all Disney movies.
"Man oh man, that Prince John sure made good on his threat, and his helpless subjects paid dearly for his humiliation, believe me. Taxes, taxes, taxes! Why, he taxed the heart and soul out of the poor people of Nottingham. If you couldn't pay your taxes, you went to jail. Yep, I'm in here too. Nottingham was in deep trouble."
Every year has its ups and downs. Sometimes the ups outnumber the downs, but not in 2020.
Lol :'(
Love this song so much, quite a few great songs in this movie. Ooo-de-lally!

The thing is, even if you have a lot, this song can still be strong. Keep it up people.
Love the soft organ. Reminds me of funeral home music, but somehow, doesn't depress me. The melody has joy. Very peaceful. :-)

I love being able to hear the organ portion of the song without the dialogue whereas other recordings were merely a recording straight from the movie itself.
