I always have tapped by fingers and hands on things around the house to go with music for YEARS! I came across a 1960's bongo in an antique store and I had to get it because I LOVE LOVE LOVE RHYTHM and this style (didn't pin point until this past year that it was Cuban style that most moves me-forgive me for not knowing) but it Always stirrs me up inside! I am a woman, a mother, and beginner at 41, but I don't care because my heart is and has always been in rhythm that I jst feel I've got to step out and express seriously. Sorry if I sound so damned dramatic, but I LOVE this music liand like air, I need it. Thank you for inspiring me and giving me something to work on in addition to another beginner video by Edgardo.
I hear you loud n clear C.M.B. For most of my life I have been 'infected' by the latin beat. I have had plenty of time to just go and buy a set of Bongo's and start playing - but somehow music was always what other people did - not me. However, four years back I pulled the trigger and bought my first Bongo's. After about six months of doing my own thing I found that it was the 'wrong thing' and had to re-train myself with the help of the UA-cam tutorials. The many great teachers on here have taken me from being an old guy 'wannabe' Bongocero to someone that can actually play Bongo's pretty good. And guess what? Its time for practice again!
I have watched Mr. Caro "live" many times and he is just a wonderfull percussionist. His timbal playing is amazing!!!......that is why L.P. recognizes him.
Your lessons has made me a much better bongo player. Please keep feeding us with those spectacular hand patterns. Que mucho me gusta. One Love my brother.
Love this pattern so fun to play on bongos! Since advanced I add my own style to it along with yes congas! Gotta love my LP Giovanni galaxy bongos & congas! When starting out LP Aspire bongos they are not bad at all! Carlos you are a great teacher keep up the great work for those starting out!
Excelente concepto, excelente tecnica y excelente pedagogia, bendiciones para ti Carlos Caro!!! Gracias LP Bendiciones martin Cohen por tan buenos aportes!!!
Hi and thank you! This clarified some things for me! Very helpful!! (By the way, to the people complaining, there are videos for the absolute beginner but you have to input the word "beginner". This tutorial is for people who know how to play and want to get better.)
This cat here… he is the guy. He’s been around for ages. Back when he still lived in Cuba he played with some famous/popular bands over there (but due to him being so cool and humble he doesnt make it a point to inject that little fact in his videos). In fact, if you look up an old video on youtube of Paulito FG live on cuban tv singing his hit “Tu No Me Calculas”, take a good look at the bongocero… its none other Carlos Caro himself (of course, much younger looking haha)
Wow...
Vaya hno. de Cuba" yo tengo esos parches hand picks and bregan.Saludo BORINCANO. esas campanas grandes de borde grueso abajo son melaza. usted es un bongocero..."ñoo
I wish the company would have allowed you more time for each example, but I guess I'll make do. By the way, Carlos, I tried to contact you for lessons but I have not been able to reach you. How to contact you?
Luis gustavo Rojas becauze he has American speaking audience two on UA-cam you get all types of nationality watching UA-cam sorry I don't read Spanish just a little bit
If you mean in big band Latin music there’s so much to know, you must know how to tune it so it communicate properly with the other percussion instruments, you must know the position of the rhythms and it's patterns in relation to the Clave, you must know when to improvise and when to keep time and when to pick up the bell I went to put the belt back down and play the bongo again. I suggest listening to a lot of classic salsa music from Cuba and New York and you’ll start to get it!
+fijimorgan I hear you there man. As a beginner I did notice that. What I do is use the options and lower the speed of the video so I can that way break it down myself. Not everyone can be as good as Michael de Miranda teaching! :-)
@@ikooch1 It appears that Al does not play bongos in the traditional style is played in Cuba and in salsa music. He uses very limited number of tones and rhythms compared to what are used traditionally and doesn’t seem to approach the traditional rhythms that are used by professional or folkloric bongo players.
hahaha the smile on his face when he starts playing. Great music

LP; Which weight have's LP bongo durian Wood??
Hi guys, can somebody tell me what is the rol of the bongo in a band? I need a powerful definition. Thanks!
What is the song called when he demonstrated the technique?
Atiq
The song's title is "Dulce Habanera" (Sweet Habana girl)
Thanks!
xtr3m3 Do you know the version that's in the video?
Atiq
I sure not. This version sounds more modern. I'll dig around.
Thanks! Comment back if you find it and if you couldn't then thanks for the help! :)
muy sabroso !!
lol
tech 👀
has loops y was y vendelos
My problem with most of the LP videos is that the performer hardly ever breaks down what they are doing and explains it for beginners. Frustrating.
+fijimorgan I hear you there man. As a beginner I did notice that. What I do is use the options and lower the speed of the video so I can that way break it down myself. Not everyone can be as good as Michael de Miranda teaching! :-)
Al Drowsky is the best

A bit too fast for us beginners.
I’d like to learn but you need to slow it down a bit.
