I think its amazing and I’m so jealous you where able to go to the real like hinamizawa!! I’m so glad that your back and shearing your experience and time there!!
Girl, anytime you upload something about Higurashi, I feel so understood. Like you speak deeply out of my heart and no one else in my life could feel the appreciation and passion that Higurashi brought into my life. You don't know how much your brilliant mind and your videos mean to me! I am very glad you got to visit Shirakawa-Go.
I was going through a _really_ tough time when this first dropped, so I hadn't gotten the chance to watch it yet. Glad I finally did! This was a really fun and insightful travel-log, and it definitely gave me some ideas of what I'd like to do when I eventually make my way over there, someday (So, so jealous of the Shirakawa-Go trip, though, lol). I might have to tap your shoulder about some travel tips when that day finally comes.
wtc fans are rare purely due to the barrier of entry into experiencing the story. Like most of my obscure hobbies it would take a lecture-worth of information just to introduce the ideas, and most people now are more in tune with easily digestible or instantly gratifying stories/movies entertainment what have you. The anime in 2006 introduced it to a substantial group of anime fans, but all they saw was just another ‘horror anime’ like fricking Junji Ito or something (I fucking hate Junji Ito’s work as well as the mainstream Western popularity it gets, like Ghibli as well.) visual novels are already a niche genre and the subgenre of sound novels even more so.
Hey, glad to see you in my feed again. I'm traveling to Japan in November as well, so I'm glad to be able to watch this video beforehand. Also also, I'm dying to be in Shirakawa-go and expirence Hinamizawa in person. Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us! :)
hi bess! i was so excited when i saw you'd done a video about a japan trip. i spend alot of time vicariously watching japan tourism vids, but i just knew that yours would be measured and not gloss over the inherent uncomfortable nature of some of the aspects of tourism itself and other japan specific things such as maid cafes. it is nice to listen to somebody talk about the ways one can enjoy being a part of such things without needing to completely suspend all critical thought. not that i expected a full deep dive or anything-- its just nice to have it acknowledged instead of entirely ignored, or worse, treated like a spectacle, like the general genre of japan tourism vids on this platform. anyway, wonderful video and im so happy you got to fulfill such a dream! thanks for sharing with us.
Aaaa I just have to comment after making it through the video. I always love your videos and the way you talk about things. You're always so mellow but the sincerity & depth of appreciation you feel always comes through. It was really charming listening to you speak to your friend in Japanese. Honestly really motivating to try language exchange. Hearing you talk about Shirakawa filled me with a feeling I can only describe as longing. I'm not as much of a Higurashi fan as yourself, but your experience there, your appreciation for it and especially when you talked about attending that 7th expansion event just made me well up with happiness. It's so beautiful that Ryukishi07's work has touched so many of us (I'm a die-hard for Umineko, personally) and that you could come together with fans like that.
As someone having a bit of a japanweaboo obsession since their teens years reading manga, I cannot wait to see your video, and like your GouSotsu video announcement, I waited for this video, knowing how it was dear to you and the care you always put into them, your videos are never thoughtless, without love, or feelings, and I cannot wait for Umineko as long as it take 💖
I appreciate you sharing this experience. I'm gonna travel pretty soon and it's the first time I'll step outside my home country, so seeing this pop on my notifs felt fitting.
Your videos are not only full of research, but something about your narration is easy to follow and so welcoming. It's as if I can get a glimpse of an experience that isn't even mine, but I can still understand its perspective and, in a way, share the same sentiment. It's very beautiful and at times, comforting! I was already excited for my travel, although at the same time pretty nervous for stuff like cultural shock, speaking a language that isn't mine, unpredictable things happening, etc. But this video has given me a type of reassure that this *will* be okay, no matter what happens, and it doesn't have to be perfect to be a memorable experience. Congrats on your wonderful trip and thank you for sharing this video with us!❤
First: welcome back! Glad to see another video from the best when they cry youtuber! Also, I'm so glad you enjoyed the trip, and you're convincing me to visit Shirakawa-go once in my life even more!
I was able to go to Shirakawago around the same time this year! Photos from the observation deck really don’t do the real thing justice. It was such a surreal experience being there. It’s ok, I forgot to visit the Umineko location, and I went to a Japan twice! It was a shame, but now I know what to do next time.
I'm so happy you were able to fulfill a dream I think many of us Anime/Manga/Japanese culture lover's wish to do once in our lifetime. It was also so cool to see the Higurashi footage! I remember I found your channel thanks to your amazing take on Higurashi, the breakdown of the follow up anime, and a wonderfully soft spoken narrator full of passion. Also wow Asian Kung Fu Generation?! Dying to know what songs they played! OG FMA's ED by them is my favorite by far, Rewrite. Thanks for the video and congrats on your bucket list vacation. I had dreamt of going w/ my Ex GF long ago, but health got in the way/finances. Anyway, glad to see you're doing well - さよなら!
I don’t usually watch travel videos like this but since it was from you I thought it would be interesting, and I was right. Ever since I really got into anime (and Godzilla films) I wanted see the land where this stuff originated from. Also to be able to get some exclusive merch. Good to see you had a great time with your friend and it was amazing seeing the “real life” location of Hinamizawa. I’m sure I spelled that wrong but regardless, nice video.
That was a great video, thanks for taking us along for the journey! Hope next time you get see some Umineko locations. Did that guy ever get that figure from the claw machine? I was watching it waiting to see if it would finally drop.
Was there any interesting content on the Higurashi pachinko machine? I once saw clips of one that had DEEN animated Yoigoshi-hen, I just wish you could view the animations without, yknow, gambling. (Also as an autistic person, pachinko parlours look like HELL with all the flashing lights and noise). The section of the video about your trip to Shirakawa-go was super interesting, it's looks so lovely and seems like such an amazing place to visit. (I need to get better at Japanese so I can go someday). I really enjoyed your unique narration, I usually don't watch much travel content but this was a really interesting watch.
Not on ours but there are a bunch of different machines that have been made over the years and even exclusive "arcs" (as much as you can tell a story in a handful of short cutscenes)
I’d recommend getting the bus tickets ahead of time, as they can get busy especially during tourist times, and there’s usually only one every hour or 2
I think its amazing and I’m so jealous you where able to go to the real like hinamizawa!! I’m so glad that your back and shearing your experience and time there!!
im jealous of your mion plush, honestly. it looks like she's had the best trip ever!!!
(same goes to you, of course :3)

Shirakawa-go is the dream! The very 1st place I'll visit if I ever go to Japan.

Frankly, I can understand the feeling of meeting an online friend irl, I did the same thing and found a pretty cool person, nice vid :D
