- Hurricane Irma is gaining strength in the Atlantic Ocean. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the storm could be extremely dangerous for the next few days. CBS News weather producer David Parkinson explained what we know about this hurricane.

It wouldn't come close to texas, It would have to swing around florida and the entire gulf in order to get to Texas, and that is HIGHLY unlikely, like basically impossible. It would barely be a thunderstorm by the time it reached Texas.

If you live in the North then it will be weaker by the cold water. If Sandy were to stay in the south it would be stronger. If you live in the south, dont worry either just know what you are doing and you'll be safe. So dont be worried just be prepared

I live in Texas and just got through Harvey. We're heading on vacation to New York on Sept 10th, and then on a cruise out of NY a week later to Bermuda. I swear, if this hurricane impacts our vacation....I don't know....I'm done.

It's track depends on how strong the high pressure is or will be. If it's strong enough it's going to head more southwest, I think. If it's weak enough it'll go right up the coast line, depending on the weakness level. I think that's right.

E. L'Oréal De Homaside um no they're not tf. They simply gather names that the scientists have heard. They already have all the names planned out . They even have the names for the hurricanes in 2020
They use the same names every 6 years unless a storm is so powerful then they retire that name. In 2006 Sandy wasn't used but in 2012 when sandy was a hurricanes it was powerful enough to retire that name so in 2018 it will be replace with Sara
