  • People with cancer and dementia experience worse outcomes than people who have cancer alone. Claire conducted research that indicated at least 1 in 13 of people aged 75+ with a cancer diagnosis also have dementia. They also looked at people’s experiences of accessing hospital-based cancer treatment and care when they have dementia and identified a number of areas for potential practice improvement. This presentation summarises findings and gives examples of some of the practice changes that the participating NHS Trusts have put in. It will signpost attendees to useful resources such as: information booklets suitable for people living with cancer and dementia, their family members and oncology staff; clinical guidelines and other sources of information.
