    Thank you so much for your helpful advice. I’ve already reserved a GR III X for a football trip in the UK next month. Can’t wait to have a great experience with my new camera :)

    totally agree on dumping the video. weather-proofing is the most important need for the upcoming GR4 at the moment.

      Be even better if they release the GR4 Monochrome

    I can't believe that anyone uses this camera for video, so I totally agree about just scrapping the function. I don't know if getting rid of the microphone and speaker would save much in the way of cost but it would at least make the menus simpler!

    I’ve owned the griii before as my only edc and it drove me crazy . I now own an x100v which I love but I do miss the small pocket cam so I ordered the griiix. Now while I’m waiting for it I’m unsure if I should get the regular one . The fomo is real sometimes . I really love the looks of the diary edition too but yeah first world problems lol

      I used to own the x100v but that camera didn't agree with me at all. X100 did that one no. Bought the griiix and I can say it is an impressive camera in every single way and it does fit in every pocket. Make sure you order a thumbrest

    Have Fuji X100V and X70 and was deliberating selling the X70 and picking up a used GRiii but the numerous reports of dust ingress and build quality issues have stopped me from pulling the trigger

      It is a thing indeed but not by default. It is visible at f/9 and very much so from f/11 onwards.
      I check mine last week and it is still without dust. I habe a hood over it but always have it on me.

    Thoughts on GR3 vs GR3X for everyday use and travel? Not so much for street photography

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos  7 місяців тому +1

      I use the GR3x mostly for everyday and in my opinion it is the best camera for it. Small, light, great image quality and always jn the pocket. Between GR3 and GR3x the difference is the focal length. I prefer the X for the reason that it is 40mm equivalent a little bit narrow the GRIii is I believe 24mm equivalent which is a little bit too wide for my personal preference. Regardless both are the best for everyday photography

      You can use it for whatever you want. Saw people do super artsy photography with it. It all depends on the photographer. Exemple : Olga Karlovac used Ricoh GR and GR II. Not the same focal length, but still pocket cameras, and look at her pictures. It's crazy art.

    Lack of a Viewfinder and no weather sealing are deal breakers for me. I am long sighted and can't see the screen dials without glasses or like using a phone the screen is too bright for any meaningful composition in harsh sunlight.

      @@chrisheath481 I was in Iceland in 2019 with an Olympus OM-10 emd mark3 and the weather was misty but not raining. The kit lens died and I didn't have another camera so your experience is certainly not mine. I then bought another lens and a year later that lens also died. Hence the requirement for certainty.In an iconic location the gear has to perform. I am now a much more serious photographer and only shoot film. My Leica MP and lenses are totally manual and I am happy to shoot them in the rain. I just make sure that they are well dried afterwards. On the Leica I also use a viewfinder for my 21mm lens. If I bought another digital camera it would be secondary to my film setup and need to be small so the added bulk of a viewfinder doesn't work. That is the 'thing' about weather sealing and viewfinder. Should I take two Ricoh's just to be certain??

    3500 shots in a year? Surely you must mean 35000?
