After watching this video last night, I had a dream that she told me to add ice cream to my morning cereal.
did you do it?
That actually doesn't sound bad😳
I love the mischievous air of this that I'm imagining, like she just appeared and whispered in your ear "dare you to put ice cream in there"
@@thismessismine it was pretty matter of fact, with a nod, as if she was in this video making just another recommendation.
@@MrVoswald yep, with corn flakes and frosted flakes that day. I wish she was more specific, because it wasn't mind blowing, and I wanna find that nugget. Maybe I'll try a different ice cream brand next time.
Just discovered her music. I’m not one to get overly romantic about the arts but I am floored by her music. It has smoked me more than anything in the last decade. It’s so beautifully crafted and I can’t wait to see her live when she tours again
Imagine what us art freaks think of her 🥹😍
There's something so angelic about her yet dark & earthy. She's like a somber butterfly 🦋
Wow yes
No there isn't
it's that Taurus
Destroyer, Scott Walker, Nina Simone, Can, Marianne Faithful...this girl is superb.
Her new album is the best of 2019 so far. So, so beautiful.
I said the same thing when I listened to her album!
Jean Carlo so he wrote "so far" :)
Completely agree! I've had 'As the World Turns' on repeat for 3 days now, after doing the same with the album once it was released. This video just adds to her allure. Pretty obsessed at this point.
The Fourteenth Ward major AGREED
Agreed. It's funny when she talks about Destroyer having a "knack for melody" and i;m like, no dude YOU have a knack for melody! i love "Fare Thee Well" from the new one
Holy guacamole. Jessica Pratt is like a giant brain of music knowledge!
i am also , but i'm an old fart! for my generation is kind of ...well, normal knowing so many singers etc. But her she's much younger than me :)
@@gasparucciox9706 hello
I am too ngl 🤣 as an artist it is integral to be IMO.
I feel like I recall her working at Amoeba at one time.
Jessica Pratts new album would be in my bag for sure.
The eyeliner just under the eyes is incredible, omg
KInd of a hard no, imho.
Awful
her new album is pure magic
nice pic
Her song “back baby” got recommended to me on Spotify recently and I’ve been listening to her on repeat since
Same story here..
my dream episode of "What's in My Bag". Thank you so much!
Anyone who picks up Can is a friend of mine
same, but that record? meh. wish she talked about that pick more.
Yoo doo, you doo right.
@@amphitheatre one of their biggest, pal. first album of post-damo era, contains absolutely fantastic tracks. dizzy dizzy with perfectly arranged string section, charming and dark come sta la luna, a sip of avant-garde jazz in splash, messy chain reaction, which unexpectedly flows into meditative quantum physics. for me that record opened can from a very different side after listening to tago mago and ege bamyasi for months. a masterpiece!
@@wjohwj I like the fact that she picked a lesser known Can album. Not the usual Tago Mago or Future Days.
Soon over Babalooma is one of Cans best. It's just not as immediate as some of their others
She looks like a gentle lovely folk version Kate Moss
alienboiloic that’s what I thought😌
@Tony Glock I thought the thumbnail was shooped to be funny.
I can't unsee it now! But better in my opinion!
I love her Chrissie Hynde/Siouxsie eyeliner.
This is now one of my favourite episodes of "What's in My Bag" ♡
Strange coincidence. Last night before bed I was wondering who inspired the musicians that inspire me, especially Jessica Pratt. Woke up to this Amoeba vid and an answer to my question 😅
manifestation
Scott Walker, Can, Durutti Column, Marianne Faithful. No wonder I love her music.
her speaking voice is so different then her singing
Yeah and that’s kind of disappointing. Makes her seem more of a put on. Like too much affectation
@@flowerdoodle2438 she’s just vibing it’s stylistic
She is criminally underrated!
I never want these videos to ever stop being made
Love her
of course Jessica has beautiful taste in music too...
She really has an educated and original taste
She has a unique voice , I love.
In love with her music and also her haircut! perfection
Just discovered her through the what’s in my bag by Damien Jurado.
What an amazing voice and someone you would love to chat with over a coffee.
Wonderful selection! So glad she’s a Durutti Column fan.
God her music chills me.
"If you can describe it, you can control it."
No wonder I love her music, such great taste
What a pleasant, special, and talented woman!
So refreshing to hear her say "I didn't know anything about Nina Simone."
Nina Simone and Marianne Faithfull. God bless you! Great picks. True fibers in the fabric of us, and yet missed.
Listening to Jessica's first album (I think). Beautiful. That's why I love WIMB - find out about old and new music.
Congrats on your new album, Jessica! Top notch
That voice. Forever embedded in my memory. 💜
She picked some great albums
TOM WAITS!!! Please!
I'd imagine Amoeba could do a whole season with Tom Waits and his influences/picks 😀
And I’d watch every second of
it
Some great picks... Nina Simone, Scott Walker, Can, Destroyer, Durutti Column....
I've seen her shopping at this amoeba so this is some cinéma verité right here :D I also recently copped that Nina Simone!
She's the personification of the Cheshire cat from Alice's Adventure In Wonderland.
I only just found her music but I have loved her for the past few months. Great episode and great picks. Her new album is killin as well.
Did you hear about her from the live in SF White Fence album where Tim says “this is for my homegirl Jessica Pratt”?
I haven't heard of her like the little bits of music at the start though presuming that's her gonna have a listen. She reminds me of Alison goldfrapp from goldfrapp for some reason 🌞
Great selections. Gonna get the Durutti Column and her new LP.
my queen! thanks for bringing her on, Amoeba! Much love to Jessica please come and do a show in Miami!!
Interesting person.. Unusual.. Elfin. Eclectic song choices.. Good.
Loved all her pics. Paul Williams is one of my favorites
A true artist...the way she talks about music...she's the best!

MY UNDERRATED TALENTED QUEEN!
I need her musical advice in my LIFE.
Looove her.🥰

She is so clever and bright. Love her and her love for music.
Can - Soon Over Babaluma is a great albums.....one of my favorites too.
just saw Paul Williams in Phantom of The Paradise (1974). what a weird and wonderful film!
Great artist and great taste😎

So cool. And good taste in books and music.
What is the intro song?? I know it's by Jessica but not the song title
Edit: Poly Blue
Poison Season by Destroyer. Yes!

Wonderful taste!.
Excellent tastes, excellent artist
I love youuu Jessicaaaa❤
Great choices
Nice! I'm definitely gonna check out Paul Williams and Scott Walker. :)
Wow, didn't expect her to appear here at any point... I'm positively surprised.
Her self titled album is ethereal. Some songs not as strong as others, but it is what it is. I wish I could see her live. *i have four copies of the lp after i gave one away to a friends unborn daughter. i hope i find a home for a couple more.
My heart
Very unique person, gonna check out Paul Williams for sure!
I LOVE HER
I want to live in this place.
Wow what intelligent choices... I am definitely going to check her out..
Fantastic taste!
just found her music and it's beautiful asf
One very cool and properly hip lady, loved this.
Very cool on the Mark-Almond. And everything else. Don't know that Marianne Faithfull album, must hear it.
Some very cool choices without being a poser about it. The under the radar classic Someday Man by Paul Williams is an inspired pick.
Great taste.❤
Wonderful!!!
James Baldwin was an intelligent writer. My favorite book of his was Another Country.
She’s incredible
Durutti Column - Valuable Passages is brilliant too.
Jessica's def got an "old soul," right? I mean, most yun 'uns today...would only ever list off musicians who've performed within the verrry short span of their lives. I love that she listened to Nina Simone at, like, age 17! She's jus' sooo bright...
that is the last thing i expected her speaking voice to sound like, wow
Queen...
Really interesting picks!
she's incredible
Not yet familiar with her music, but she has fabulous taste. I mean Can, Scott Walker, Nina Simone, Marianne Faithfull AND James Baldwin. C'mon!
THAT WAS GREAT
Queen
I don't know who she is, but Lady came from Baltimore is one of my all time fav songs...never heard anyone else mention it until today!
Jessica Pratt rocks
'Mathild ' is a Jacques Brel cover. And Jessica Pratt you have a unique voice!
Nico .M Amsterdam as well
Love this pop music crate diving academic analysis.
Love also that WIMB retains the original stereo image from featured recordings. One can get a sense of not only music artist choices but production/recording engineering choices.
I love her
I’m way in love with her as well
She needs to do a podcast or something, I could listen to her for hours. like her records lol
Fahkkkk I legit listen and watch james Baldwin interviews allll the time even when I’m driving
