Still remember the days when we'd talk on AIM and she'd send me some of her songs she was working on, of which I'd immediately burn to a disc and listen on repeat. I'm so proud of you Jessica! I'll never forget our day of having no money and eating french fries, always knew you'd make it big.
Jacob Zembower I'd love to hear some of those recordings!
Yeah prove it
Jk :)
This is so funny @@werkingthenet
She's the reincarnation of Nick Drake.
If I live to 1000 I won't hear another artist who sounds like this. Her accent is impossible to pin down. She's hypnotic.
It’s almost as if she is singing only to you
Her voice is like a fine tuned instrument. It's truly incredible.
This girl came from outer space...
moooooon dude(ette)
Moon Dude was killer. Cheryl proves once again why she's the best DJ on KEXP, possibly ever. Constantly connecting with such different artists.
amen
Here watching for the 1000th time, a crystal fairy elf goddess never gets old
Her vocals are so different. They are fresh but paradoxically sound familiar. I like it when an artist can do that. Thanks for the video!
Landi i see parallels here with nick drake's pink moon vocals :) imagine seeing them at the same show
Kat Hutton My thoughts exactly:)
Kat Hutton Hi Kat,
What a incredibly insightful and interesting observation. I was buying Nick Drake albums when they first came out and he was alive , and I totally agree with you about the musical association. Have you heard "Five Leaves Left?" (my favorite Nick Drake album).
With best wishes,
Michael
Kat Hutton Great idea!!! :)
Landi Yeah, her voice is (cliched word I know) ethereal, so strange but sort of familiar (like the Stevie Nicks sound sometimes). 'People's faces bend together like a watercolour you can't remember in time' - that's such a fucking great line.
you lifted me from a very dark time in my life, thank you Jessica.
Wrong Hand - 00:43
Game That I Play - 4:26
Moon Dude - 11:56
Strange Melody - 16:20
watching her perform is truly bewitching, helped by the fact that she's so comfortable with her own mysterious, otherworldly nature
Just saw/heard her tonight as the opening act for Beach House- Jessica is absolutely amazing!
Pel Qel god what a double bill that is. I may have been blissed right out of the venue.
Thats amazing, seeing both Jessica and Beach House, I really hope I get the chance to view either someday!
How did I just find this amazing woman? My god that voice....
Her accompanying guitar player is excellent bringing a beautiful layer of sound to her incredible vocals
Got her album at the public library on CD. Renewed that rental and got the other. I still need to buy it from her, she so deserves to be paid for her work. 💙
People still go to the library!?
There is something of Nick Drake about her playing , talent .
Instrumentally not at all. Singing perhaps. Stylistically partly. Wonderful music nevertheless
I agree. Melodically she's a kindred spirit. Talleyrand Music hasn't a clue.
I find lyrically especially
No need to argue about it - my first thought on hearing her was "the female Nick Drake". There's no higher compliment!
There is! The sense of something palpable and warm yet somehow far away, the earthen dreaminess...
Her voice provokes sadness, but a good kind of sad that humans sometimes need to feel.
Just listened to Jessica on a whim after she was mentioned in The Guardian. Can't believe how beautiful and authentic her music is, words fail. Can't wait to listen to all of her music.
I LOOVE her, her sound is so unique and nostalgic kinda like the days of Joni Mitchell and David Crosby. She's great
***** I would have never heard of her if not for D. Crosby. I respect his opinion as someone with a really good ear.
I haven't heard of Mitchell or Crosby, but I'll give them a listen. The singing and guitar style of Pratt reminds me of Linda Perhacs and Vashti Bunyan
Anything with Jessica Pratt on it needs to have WAY more views than this. What a talent. Hands down the best thing out there. Missed her in San Fran a few years ago...one of the biggest regrets I have to date.
NORBERT .
Such dreamy music...damn. Sparse? I think this is a description from someone 'hearing' and not 'listening' ... intricate tone and emotional swings, like everything in the world. Really enjoyed this.
I'm just addicted to Jessica Pratt recently.
As am I! What is it? Love
She just blew my mind. Damn.
NvrSettle right!
I could listen to her songs and her voice all day long...really beautiful.
shes actually monumental to my life
I saw finally Jessica this evening in Luxembourg / Europe and i'm happy about it. very intimate concert and a pretty much romantic feeling in the room. Go see her live if you got the opportunity
KEXP always coming through with the sublime musicians.
She looks like a cat and sings like an angel.
she touches my heart
With just some sparse instrumentation and her unique voice, Jessica Pratt can create songs that soundtrack big parts of my life.😻😍
This sounds so much better than the album version
The guitar playing is gorgeous, especially the chords - they (and the general feel) remind me of "A Distant Shore", Tracey Thorn's solo mini-album from the early 80s. I've been wondering if she uses alternative guitar tunings, but it seems not. Great to see these played live - thanks for uploading this.
God I love this album...my absolute favorite!! Strange Melody and Ive got a feeling my favorite and actually every single song..
Thank you for writing such great lyrics
Jessica Pratt has released some of the best music of our time. She is a gift from the cosmos, as are all of you. Let's enjoy these tunes and this time together. Cheers to this masterpiece! We love you JP
Brilliant performance. Loved it!
I am mesmerized. This is absolute gold.
If you like 'Moon Dude' I'd recommend looking up 'Triad' by Jefferson Airplane. Very similar vibe to me. Just as a note I'm not saying they are at all the same in construction, but just the vibe.
Great shout actually! Her style really reminds me of that darker folk sound like on Triad but that's also kind of littered throughout a lot of British folk like Roy Harper and Nick Drake. A lot of it really reminds me of this section of a Fairport Convention song called Sloth. It starts very conventionally and then really disappears to some other world.
Flawless live set. Impressive!
WOW!
Jessica Pratt is a preternatural creature from a magical land of fairies. After hearing her voice, music will never be the same again.
Very enchanting voice and the music is mellow enough to relax to.
what a unique talent she is. Superstar... I ❤ Jessica Pratt. Fabulous performance here x
come on give it up for jessica.....great tunes
I am so in love with her music
Absolutely amazing!!!
Beautiful
Jessica Pratt Evokes; Thank you Jessica Pratt. Have a wonderful time touring this summer and hope you visit Seattle again soon -- and Thanks Cheryl for the must appreciated introduction :)
Where did she go 😢 I miss you Jessica
the new album will be out on 3rd of may!
it's out guys! ❤
Pure, nostalgic, etc.
Just bought the ticket for her show in London, UK (8th Sept '15 - Bush Hall). I find her live performances much better than studio albums... there is much more 'air' here and space. You can 'taste' it slowly...The last studio album seems to me a bit ... rushing, in a hurry... like playing 33 speed vinyl on 45 speed sometimes... still very, very good, thou'. And the voice................
I know what u mean i had to check i wasnt on the wrong speed
I wish more people knew of her and her wondrous work
Jessica Pratt is amazing.
Strange melody, WoW ! Goosebumps.
Mesmerizing.
Stunning!!!!
this was absolutely magical
JPRATT is a GOD
Awesome!
Fabulous!! The better musical Surprise until now this year.
amo la voz de esta man❤

Strange Melody is an old friend. Animistic. Indigenous Mind
You're a dream, Jessica!
One of a kind✨
Can't wait to see her at Union Pool this May!
Totally out of this world
Stuck on Moon Dude...damn such a creepy-hypnotic-beautiful-lamy-pacifical tune. LOVA
Nuanced idiosyncratic. Ethereal. I’m in love
Legend.
she's the greatest
its literally not hard to say at all its perfect and beautiful
tellement de soin dans le jeu de guitare c'est delicieux
beautiful!~!@~!!~~~!! the best ever
i missed you sheryl
"Aw, thank you."
My heart!!!!!
Sensational
songs like dreams
her voice is like a British Stevie Nicks/Dolly Parton?
That glactic voice is blowing me on top of a mountain covered in snow
This is duvet day music. I love it.
hell yeah
Love
Mooonnnn duuuude
Enigmatic. Intriguing.
Wow)
Wow
She sounds British when she sings!
What a voice.
Wrong hand Lyrics:
So you're running 'round the world
With your head above the ground
And you're dancing too close behind
To the darling in a hidden shroud
And you don't know how you got here before
You were dancing with the wrong hand
Wandering in dreams I had before
And they play in my mind
I see you standing wasted alone
In my mind, in my mind
So you're running 'round the world
With your head above the ground
And you're dancing too close behind
To the darling in a hidden shroud
And you don't know how you got here before
You were dancing with the wrong hand
Wandering in dreams I had before
And they play in my mind
I see you standing wasted alone
In my mind, in my mind
💘
My goodness.
Sounds like Vashti Bunyan
I knew I couldn't be the only one who thinks so. My favorite Pratt song is "Game That I Play" and I have several Vashti favorites (two that come to mind are "Rose Hip November" and "I'd like to walk around in your mind", but I've got 5 others that I really like too). What's your favorite Vashti Bunyan song?
If a cat was a person and it could sing, this is what it would sound like
You know what would be the most awesome thing on the planet? If Jessica did a collaboration with Bobby Shmurda.
You have just given me brain aneurysma
can someone give her a show with a huge budget please
Easy to see why David Crosby likes Pratt.
I tuned my guitar to something strange today
reminds me of Nick Drake a lot.
Yuriy Disman she once Said she is also listening Nick Drake so i guess she is quite influenced by him..His Music oh.. Always bring's my heart to cry But also Smile..Just like her
genius
Is that a Temple of Psychick Youth tattoo on Jessica's inner forearm at 21:49?
Yes
