I swear... if Raul didn't make a living as a singer, he could have easily been a DJ. In addition to singing like an angel, he has a voice for radio. Such talent!
Raul has been famous for years due to his wonderful voice, charisma , personilty etc, and with the Mavericks they reached perfection. They are so brilliant together.
Roger Barrett; As much as I love Conway, he never had anywhere close to the range that Raul Malo has. Conway deserves a place as a Country & Rock & Roll Icon (Lots of folks don't remember that Conway started out as a Rock & Roller), but Malo is in a class all by himself. Similarly Willie is a certified Icon, and has sold more records than Waylon, but has never had the vocl range that Waylon had in his prime. Willie's just Willie and we love him for it. Same with Conway.
I think every one of the Maverick's have matured in their art and they are better than ever! Raul and Eddie and the drummer and the accordianist and the piano and base etc! Wow
I bought the cd and it started with the Spanish Come Unto Me I loved so much. WOW I asked different people what are the words. I don’t speak Spanish . I just wanted to dance took it to the Beauty Shop. HaHa Then I finally listened to all of it and was surprised for the English version. Watching Raul sing it in person and on video I saw he danced to it also. In my dreams Raul and I dancing to it. ❤
I have been a huge fan since 94 and have seen the mavs and Raul so many times and it has been great to watch the fan base grow and I know exactly the fans he is talking about and I'm so glad he recognized them in the interview I say them only because I was onto the band a little sooner than them and did notice their arrival
Greatest living singer of all time . . . odd incongruous statement. From my perspective he's the best male vocalist of my lifetime regardless of genre. It would have been great to hear him paired with Linda Ronstadt who gets my nod as the best female vocalist of my lifetime.
My husband took me to see them in November 2022...they were awesome!!! I had always wanted to see them in concert, so he took me. Seriously, you've got to go see them live...
I think the first time I hear the Mavericks was on an alternative radio station on the internet. I hear the same song later somewhere else and that was it. I looked for their songs and bought one of their CDs. I did occasional DJ-ing and would always sneak in one of their songs in my gigs to introduce their music to folks and eventually they were mainstream.
Raul is a great singer. I've been a fan for a while and seen him and the Mavericks many times. Me personally, I wouldn't say he's the greatest. To me it is Keith Whitley. Raul makes me want to listen to a song but Keith makes me feel a song. Keith can take me to the depths of hell and then reach the ceilings of heaven when he sings.
I still don't consider the mavericks to be country music. some bands don't fit a category. the mavericks are just the mavericks. good music that makes me happy it is out there.
It was clear by their third album "What a Crying Shame" that the "Country Band" label was far to narrow to describe their music and their appeal. I refer to them as a multi genre roots fusion band. Unfortunately, because of the country label, The Mavericks and Raul as an individual don't get the attention they deserve when it comes to Grammys. Raul should easily should have won many "best male" vocalist Grammys across many categories.
Maybe ten years since first post. Listened recently to him.. found some greta stuff. Love the reprisals from the 50;and earlier/ later. The presenter...should, could guest on stage. Shes a singer?
Does any big Maverick fan out there know who was the inspiration for their song "All you ever do is bring me down"? Who would possibly bring Raul down?
Raul and the Mavericks, whom I've watch come up through the years only gets better with age like aging the best wine in the market ( once you take your first sip, you can't put the bottle down) and the best part is they are not stingy with their songs by doing it in - 2 minutes, nah these guys will do at minimum 5-6 minutes per songs. Raul, ask Jerry Lee Lewis about retirement (you can't retire what you are, love, cherish and what's been part of your life since the day you were born).
Love you guys🎉🎉🎉 Feel free to take a look of my poems and transform them into a song. “A paradise to your soul” By Zoila Teresa Flores “El Padrecito” By Zoila Teresa Flores ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No one has a voice like Raul.. fantastic 👍👍👍💕💕💕
I swear... if Raul didn't make a living as a singer, he could have easily been a DJ. In addition to singing like an angel, he has a voice for radio. Such talent!
Conway Twitty? I love him as a country singer, but he is not in the same ball park as Raul Malo!
Raul has been famous for years due to his wonderful voice, charisma , personilty etc, and with the Mavericks they reached perfection. They are so brilliant together.
Love this Man! He is a Legend!
Raúl its a genius a marvelous singer !!!
Raul Malo really is the greatest singer of all time! No, he's not Conway Twitty, but Raul Malo really is great. To me, he's just as great.

My husband took me to see them in November 2022...they were awesome!!! I had always wanted to see them in concert, so he took me. Seriously, you've got to go see them live...
@@sheenawinfrey3133 What a happy comment! It makes me smile from ear to ear. Sweet gesture from your husband!

💞❤RAUL❤💞
Best!!!
She is right, Raul i think is as good as Roy Orbison or a bit better and Roy was the best singer once appon a time
Love this band.Love from NZ

Some bands are just great bands that can play anything.
