Thanks sooo much. this fixed my yellow. It was absolutely BROWN when I pushed the solution thru!!!! I couldn't believe it. I haven't had yellow in my Print head line in a while so it just sat there and went bad. You are great!!! Canon told me on the phone that my printer had a "Hardware Issue" and needed to be replaced! NO, no, no!

That "Ink FlusH" fills up the waste pad(s).
How do you replace them and reset the counter on this printer?

This worked on my Canon G6020. My initial nozzle check showed nothing on the cyan and yellow lines. I used a little less than half a bottle of the cleaning fluid on those two colours, and then I ran another nozzle check. This one showed a very faint cyan and yellow and no magenta (I had not run any fluid through magenta). After running a cleaning and deep cleaning, a third nozzle check showed a slight improvement on the cyan. So I did the ink flush. Although it did use a lot of ink, it didn't use as much ink as I had thought it would. A fourth nozzle check shows all colours back to normal. I'm very happy to have found this video and to have saved myself the cost of a new printer and ink!

Product worked flawlessly on one of my customers' printer (print head was nicely cleaned out). Unfortunately, I had a feeling there was a bigger issue that has been the topic on many tech repair forums involving this Canon printer. Black ink was not being drawn to through the distribution tube. After closer inspection, air bubbles were evident. I will be keeping a couple of these in my inventory for the future though. Great product and excellent walk-through, my brother! Take care!!

Happy New Year and thank you for this guide! I have a Canon Pixma G5020 and it was bothering me that there didn't appear to be anything about this printer on UA-cam after finding my colors weren't printing. I realized this video was close enough to pay attention to it. Ordered the Printhead Cleaning Kit and followed the steps only to learn I needed to perform the Ink Flush. Originally thought I was going to have to wait anywhere from the 6th till the 9th this month when surprised Amazon told me it was coming NYE! It did, yay! Just filled the tanks, ran the Ink Flush, and back in business. Thank you!

Great video! Thanks for showing us how it's done. I guess I'll check my ink sponge in the back and dry it out too, after doing this? I would think this will just completely saturate the ink drain sponge? I keep alchohol and large syringes around, just for these fing printers, what a pain. My last canon only lasted 6 years, with carts, my moms even less time. I kept it limping along, but it seems they are NOT DESIGNED TO LAST, and that's how Canon wants it. I hope these new printers end up better; my G6020 is completely clogged after 2.5 years, deep cleaning does nothing for it; of course I rarely use it.. which is why there is a problem.

7/5/24 what happens if you don’t do the flush at the end of the? I have a g7020 very similar to this and there is no replacement material/kit that soaks up all of the ink that’s used in the final step. Question 2- if I cleared the dried ink with your kit , why is the last step “ maintenance ink flush” required? I mean no disrespect or negative tone, I’m just trying to better understand . I’m concerned for where all that flushed ink goes. If the material in the back of the printer (let’s call it a sponge)gets saturated, the printer throws a code that to my understanding needs to be addressed by canon ( which defeats the whole DIY principle).
    Thanks Gerddy from Jersey

CAUTION. I tried this because our colour ink tanks are stained inside and we could not see that one was empty, it must have sat dry for a while. I must have used slightly too much pressure on the syringe as the fluid came out of a different colours nipple and not the jet end. A new head did fix the issue but they are not cheap to replace.

Thank you for this. I hate this printer. I have a 10 yr old canon at home and it still works well. We got this model for work and it clogs ALL THE TIME. Probably because it doesn't get used that much. I will never ever buy a printer with ink like this again. I had one years ago at another job and it was a constant battle as well. Can't remember the brand. I'd rather pay through the nose for ink cartridges than deal with this every time I want to print something! Great tutorial. Thanks again.

Very helpful! Thanks! Why do you need to use Ink Flush if you'd already flushed out the print heads with the solution? In the past after cleaning with a solution, I would just print a page of solid color to clean out the remaining solution, and it used much less ink and didn't add ink to the internal ink pads.

    • @BestPrinters

@@denahom Dena, I just saw your message, sorry so long to respond! Just open an image editing program (Photoshop, Gimp, etc.) and make an 8.5"x11" document, draw a box that fills to the margins and fill it with 100% of whichever color you want to print. Always leave a margin, 1/4" or so, to make sure ink doesn't get on your rollers.

I received a phone call from Canon today and now they are sending me another printer, oh wow. I print a lot and I am not sure this is the printer for me, not even a year old and I have already printed 7350 pages. I not sure what brand is best, so confusing. Apparently the printheads are gone, to replace them is very expensive and very hard to find, I own a Canon G 2270.

These printers are full of issue. Cannon need to change modify these printers with ink emptying tanks too not a sponge.

Thanks for informing us. I plan on trying this kit. I'd like to point, I went to the cannon video on changing printheads and am wondering (A.) why don't you use their procedure to park the heads via the maintenance menu so we can pull out the print heads? Does this start some kind of a counter so that if old heads are returned the system will not want to work? (B.) the receptacle in the printer that accepts the waste ink from the purging and the cleaning and all that. When do we have to start worrying about that. Before I got to your video, I tried so many cleaning and purging cycles and what not to no avail, now I am worrying if I have that thing filled. Thanks for all the help.

Hi, I have always done my own method for stopping the printhead. I was not aware Canon had a video like that, I wouldnt be opposed to doing it their way. Also once the waste ink pads fill up you will be notified as to you replacing it. I hope this helps!

Thank, great video! ***QUESTION*** I am looking to purchase this printer (classifieds - never used, but half the price vs retailer and tanks were filled by owner). I am going to be using this for sublimation with sublimation ink, but I need the existing ink GONE from those tanks. Will the Ink Flush get rid of all of the ink? Or is there a lot of residual still in there? If there is, is there a way to flush the rest out or even remove those tanks so I can syringe-wash by hand? I can't have any remaining 'regular' ink in there.
And if you don't know, that's perfectly fine, I just can't seem to find a straight answer online!
