One thing I like about a deep water line is the water gets colder setting in the line down deep. 1800 feet, that's a long line. Bet you had a few connections to make on that one. Terry
I am no expert. It would depend on the size of rocks I guess. A plumber or electrician could probably tell you what works best in your area. We have lots of rocks here and there but most are not huge by any means. Wish I could tell you more but I just don't know for sure. Terry
I put in 1800 feet of water line at 3 feet...it was a project but absolutely worth the effort. I used an excavator.

I always seem to loose dirt somewhere. The dirt that comes out of the holes I dig just seem to not fill the very hole that I just dug.
