@@annavrhovac2687 There is no "better". Both instruments sound great for this piece. I'm talking about the musicality of the player, not just the instrument.
I remember playing this on MY viola *(before the damn thing got stolen* 😒), and I’ve just been pleasantly surprised this could be played on this instrument when Le Cygne is specifically for piano & cello. I respect you for bringing up really pleasant memories & taking me back, on top of playing so beautifully.
I was considering playing this piece on the violin, but you totally changed my mind. It sounds so amazing on viola - better than Ray Chen's violin version! I play both instruments. 🙂
The transcription is freely available on IMSLP (www.imslp.org). This was recorded at the end of another session where Alexander and Chris had recorded a Brahms violin sonata. With some extra session time left, not sure if Alexander had improvised any register changes or played the literal transcription.
Soulful playing by both artists. EXCELLENT TONE of the viola❤❤❤❤❤❤. Lots of love and wishes from India 🇮🇳
This is a very beautiful rendition. Both instrumentalists were excellent and have a soulful touch to their playing. Beautiful!
Thank you for the kind words!
What a composer and how well you make his creation sing. So lovely, thank you!
Best performance of this piece on UA-cam, on any stringed instrument. Beautifully done, with a lovely sound and great control. Congrats!
Cello’s better

I love the range you get from a viola. Highs like a violin but lows like a cello. Excellent job!
