I've been wanting one of these, had one years ago and loved it! My oven takes so long to preheat so I think these are convenient for small food items. I'll be asking for one for Christmas lol
Great review! I usually turn mine to max, turn it on to heat up, then prep my pop tart or cookies to put in. I set the timer on my microwave for 2 min for precision.
I just got one for Christmas and love it! The kids are loving it too for quick pizzas , chicken nuggets , fries. They just made mozzarella sticks in there tonight. It's fun. Lol oh the little things that make me happy!

I bought a Sage(Breville in North America) toaster oven last year. That was the best buy I have made for years, the preheat time is so much quicker and because the oven is smaller it takes less electricity to maintain the oven at temperature. So as well as convenience it is cheaper than using the full sized oven all the time. I use mine every day for a least one thing.
All toaster ovens get scalding hot on the outside. I pull mine out from under the kitchen cabinet so the top doesn’t brown the underside of my cabinet with the heat. I also got a tempered glass sheet for under it to protect the counter.

All toaster ovens get hot on the outside. They also tend to have short electric cords which are on the wrong side.
I don't trust toaster oven timers, the difference between 12 and 14 minutes for example is such a little turn of the knob. I use a digital clock for something that takes a while and my eyes for something quick.
I never saw a bagel option. I get the Lenders presliced ones that you put in the refrigerator but most bagels go into the freezer so which one is the oven expecting?
I like 2 heating elements on the top and bottom(I'd imagine works faster and if one goes less screwed), I also like when the crumb tray slides out from outside the oven instead of inside(probably the only option with 2 heating elements at the bottom).
I have always had toaster ovens & I got this one not long ago to replace one that I simply didn't like! I use it mostly to heat up things that don't heat up well in the microwave. I make a spinach pie often & the leftovers heat up so well in it. I save my frozen pie shell aluminum containers for leftovers- they fit perfectly in this toaster oven! I have learned over the years that NO toaster oven timers are accurate so I always turn the dial past the time it needs & then use my digital kitchen timer. I think everyone has burned plastic on the top at some point- I know I did! ha Lesson learned!
I have the exact same product as the one you’re currently reviewing. I will never purchase another Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven again. They are made cheaply. I finally had to clean it today and I had to spray Easy Off Oven Cleaner on the bottom tray and it totally showed that the tray is not stainless steel. The stainless steel metal coating came off immediately showing some corrosive material beneath. It was so scary that I threw the whole oven out. I’m going back to my Cuisinart Electronic Toaster Oven because it is made of stainless steel and lasted me years. And when I have to clean it with Easy Off Oven Cleaner, absolutely zero corrosion ever happened like the Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven. Another advantage of the Cuisinart Toaster Oven Over the Hamilton Beach Oven it that it notifies me when it’s done so I can go get my food out of the oven and eat it while it’s hot. It notify me by beeping until I turns it off. There are no such features on the Hamilton Beach Oven. What a waste of money.

I've thought about buying one of these, to save money as it would be more energy efficient, rather than heating a full oven for a pie. Counter space always puts me off. Would be ideal for a student or travel as Mattn said.
I see this being great for you guys since you review so much food and it's nice to be able to cook a few items without heating up the whole oven.
What mode do you choose for fries?
You have to be careful with the outsides of them, they do get hot. ours is the same way, we have 2. A little bitty one and a toaster/convection oven that is a countertop model.(Oster). We use ours a lot, both of them!

I have this actual one and love it!!! We use it all the time for smaller foods. Instead of turning on the oven and heating the whole house...we use this. For corn dogs, hot dogs, hot sandwiches among other things this is perfect. You are right tho...it gets very hot on top!!
How do ya turn it on tho?
Did your two little release buttons on the side of your timer button actually work. I guess when you push those side buttons in its supposed to disengage the mechanism inside of the dial so it turns back count clockwise really easy. Well mine doesnt do that. My dial remains hard to turn back counter clockwise regardless of if im pushing in those little buttons or not. I dont feel like sending it back just because of that. Just wondering if this is an issue with ALL of these models or just mine. Thanks

I always line the tray with tin foil and even the bottom of the toaster oven with tin foil in case there is ever spillage.

This would be good for those with little space. Or to take on holiday in for example a caravan (rv) or on a camping holiday if you've got a power supply. Maybe also in student accommodation. I've just been on holiday and I took my tefal actifry lol.

Can you cook meats and poultry in there?
I’ve cooked sausage balls in there and they were just as good as in the oven.
