I disagree with what you said about fears, but I agree the "snap" of the camera is too janky. maybe it should turn your camera to the direction you are forced to look quickly rather then an instant snap
The problem is that lethality is so high in SMITE that it's not really fair for the player. This would be the ideal solution if TTK was not to the point of dying in .5 seconds in some cases though! As a friend said, the disorientation is a hidden extension of this kind of crowd control and for each player the recovery time will be different. So I think we have to do one or the other. Either your suggestion with less lethality (I would prefer) or some better grasp of reducing disorientation in a world where it's possible for a single ability to kill a player without even being ahead!
A few things I disagree with is fear not affecting the camera, as that is one of the main points of fears is to force you to look in another direction the same as taunts forcing you to look at someone. I like that sometimes you start in the jungle and sometimes in lane because it affects when you are level 1 , or 2 making for interesting mix-ups from season to season. Skins are cool and I don't really get limiting what skins they should make because some of the funnier ones are the best ones to me(Food Skins). CC is fine in Smite 1 it allows people to be good at different things and have different play styles (Hun Batz being a good team fight assassin and Camazotz being good at 1v1s/picks). Lastly laughing and emoting are fine and not toxic at all personally my funniest smite moments are when me and someone else go back and forth killing and spam laughing each other.
No worries! I figured some people would disagree with this but the main issue at hand is that lethality is so high in SMITE. The disorientation becomes a hidden CC. Each player will recover from it differently. Thinking of SMITE 2 more down the line. How many more things are going to take control of your camera? It's not just fear that does this.
I'm meh about pre-picking your character before the lobby starts. Ideally, you'd need to pre-pick 4 gods in that case for all the roles you may likely end up getting (assuming you'll never be given your least favoured role). Additionally, it may end up causing more frustration when someone instalocks your pre-picked character before you because now, not only are your frustrated that you didn't get your pick but, you're also annoyed that you went through all the trouble using a system that did nothing for you. Honestly, I'm not the kind of player who cares that much about getting my main. Not to mention most people probably don't have a main for all 4/5 roles. So I don't really disagree with your suggestion. But it's also something I'd never see myself using.
Pre-picking your Gods would reduce the "lobby failed" scenario and lead to you getting in a match faster. That's the main thing. It's less so getting the pick you want. Yes you would need to pick a God for each of the roles. You would not enter a lobby so there is no scenario where a pre-picked character is auto locked in before someone else has chance to pick them. That's weirdly where another advantage of Heroes of the Storm comes in. As you don't need to have those fixed 5 roles. But that's another story!
I actually dont like the fate away death, the death animations in smote 1 is super cool, like Ares beeing chained or ymir falling apart is away better than just vanishing in dust
I agree. Out of all of the options the fade away is the least desirable. However...animating death animations is more work. The particle death system is quite cheap to impliment. But so is the ragdoll death too. So if it is a matter of cost then why not Ragdoll instead of the particle death?
Yea I agree with everything said here especially about the camera and the blind effects. Ra should have the blind reworked so it doesn’t hurt people’s eyes anymore.
9 years later. SMITE finally adds the matchmaking system I presented to them back in 2015. I am very happy! So this video is "slightly" outdated regarding matchmaking but that's a small piece of the video!
I think in smite 2 we should be able to look at the front of our character when we turn the camera after standing still for a few seconds. It sucks the some skins look so good and have special animations but we can only see the characters from the back.
This is a really well-made video, and I think the title is accurate. I agree with everything here, especially in regards to the camera for clipping, cc, and blinds. I think the general camera could borrow the surface culling from Mordred’s ult, as it could help make walls less disorienting. The displacements/fears/taunts should absolutely not lock the cameras. And blinds shouldn’t make me blind, too, lol.
no. i was with you up until the emote laugh spam, any other joke or taunt spam is what makes smite fun for both sides. also its good for players that deserved it. dont be such a snowflake about it
@@lukemarriott306 To be fair, it never really bothered me because they only do it at the end when it's over and it's a very minor 'issue' compare to other games
You'll probably find I am the least snowflake player in SMITE =P Toxicity is nothing compared to some of the things I deal with. But I care for other players. That's the big difference.

I did enjoy hearing your thoughts in the video tho

@@InukiTV i think they are avoiding theses aspects because they dont know UE5 like the do with UE3

Nah bro, it creates toxicity. Just put the emotes on cool down
I do it just for fun, I don't use it to shit other players. That's just being a dick

You do realize you could still laugh right? You just couldn't spam it =)
