We all know the real winner here, It's overisally the original film from the 30's as the 90's version is good too and 2017 version is nothing compared to the other versions.
The Mummy 1997 is one of the best blockbuster movies ever made. And I say this with no sarcasm. It's fun, has charismatic leads, and great direction. Sure the effects haven't held up as well as other films of the same period, but all the good outweighs this minor bad. The Mummy 2017 is just so...bleh.
On the 2017 has not a chance against Brendan's 1999 movie. It's got charm, a good cast with chemistry and overall very fun. I loved it as a kid and I still do. Sure the CGI hasn't aged well, but in this case the rest of the movie is so enjoyable it doesn't ruin it. It's a part of it's time afterall. The 2017 lacked so much. I have seen so much worse, but I've seen miles better too. I'm just so MEH about it.
I thought he was going to talk about the original film from the 30's till I realized nobody besides universal monsters fans and film historians care about it as the 1999 remake maybe campy and silly but still has scary monements and great action pieces while the 2017 reboot fails both as a horror/action flick and instead feels like a failed film series start.
I will always enjoy the 1999 Mummy film, it's very entertaining, and the characters while somewhat over the top are all believable given what the film set out to do, and that was to make an action/adventure film with some horror elements. Unlike this latest Mummy film it will continued to be fondly remembered.
> _"Is it because they cared? That's almost entirely why, I would think."_ Something about your delivery on this line cracked me up. Excellent episode. I still have lots more catching-up to do - but this is a solid improvement over where you were on this channel just 6-months ago :-)
Great Video. I remember watching the 1999 version everyday since I was a kid, now looking back on the film, the reason why I loved watching the movie was because it was fun and was able balance between adventure, comedy and horror in slight ways, not enough to change the tone of the movie, but to add or relieve moments of tension. The fact that the original film took place during the 1920's adds to it's atmosphere and sense of adventure. I just watched the 2017 version, and it was more boring then I expected. It was basically action scene / exposition / action scene / exposition. I was barely awake.
Some other points: 1999 Mummy: Set in the 1920's fun costumes, weapons and calls to mind the B films and pulp magazines. 2017 Mummy: Boring modern era.
The irony. The Mummy 1999 was a stand alone movie that ended up being the first in a trilogy. The Mummy 2017 was the first movie in a series that was over after that one movie.
The Mummy 1999 was my first movie watching in a cinema hall. I was just 7yrs old. It was my favourite then but i still watch it every single time it comes on tv. Best part.. its never boring ! i must've watched it like some 50 times. Great cast, amazing chemistry (i remember wishing Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiz would become a real couple
I only saw it because my dad's girlfriend offered to go to the theaters...and I didn't initially wanna go....but, I didn't wanna make her feel bad....smh
The memes are the best part of this new mummy release where u see the terrible reviews for the new movie alongside a photo of Brendan Fraser laughing his ass off lol
The reason why was because Tom Cruise and Alex Kurtzman who were the problems, Kurtzman should have focused on Ahmanet but instead he made the same mistake again like he did in Michael Bay's first 2 Transformers films in 2007 and 2009 by focusing on the humans instead of either The Autobots and Decepticons. Also Tom Cruise was movie poison, because he is a control freak. He changed the script and had the real star Sofia Boutella's role shorten just to beef up his lame ass role and this isn't the first time he did this. He did it to Stanley Kubrick's last film Eyes Wide Shut according to what R. Lee Ermey told interviewers. Ermey said that Cruise and his then wife Nicole Kidman where having their way with him and Kubrick thought that the critics would crucify him because Cruise turned his last film into a steaming pile of bullshit. If I was the head of Universal I would have gone for Channing Tatum as Nick Morton instead of Tom Cruise, because Tatum isn't selfish and controlling like Cruise and I believe that there would have been better chemistry between Channing Tatum and Annabelle Wallis because he is just 4 years older than her whereas Cruise is old enough to be her father, she was only 1 when he was in Legend with Tim Curry and Top Gun with Val Kilmer.
I like the Brendan Frasier one much better. It had actual Egyptian mythology baked into it. I enjoyed that. The curses and stuff were cool. It was much more of a creepy scary kind of movie. The new Mummy is all action and no substance.
The Mummy 1999 was a one off movie that became popular enough to spawn a trilogy while The Mummy 2017 was a franchise starter that will end up being a one off movie.
Adam, if it makes you feel any better, the Brendan Fraser movies have pretty much been confirmed to exist in the same universe as the 2017 film. They even had the gold book from the Brendan movies shown briefly in the 2017 movie
Ooh remember the scarab scene from the mummy 1999, scared the apple juice piss out of me as a kid. When the beetle crawled across gad Hassan’s chest under his skin
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are so hot. Tom Cruise and whats her name were not. The 1999 version screams HALLOWEEN! The 2017 version screams BLOCK BUSTER MONEY!
I'm surprised no one had mention that the first remake was actually The Mummy 1959 with Christopher Lee. The 1999 Mummy is the 2nd remake and then the 3rd remake is the 2017 Mummy.
I genuinely just don't remember the '99 version, but I don't think it would hold up in the regards everyone weirdly tried to praise it recently. That being said it's probably still better than the recent version, even though I didn't hate it that much compared to everyone else
okay I'm going to say this now the mummy with Brendan Fraser it was a genius it was the best franchise for The Mummy Return of the Mummy was even better now Tomb of the emperor Dragon I'm going to admit it was a little weird but it still had Brandon Frazier it was awesome I have to give it a 4 out of 5 stars because Brandon Fraser is still in there but now the new Mummy that's got Tom Cruise as mr. horse says from Ren and Stimpy no sir I don't like it
1999's is still far better than 2017's .. It had been more than 20 years but it's magic still works 😍😍😍😍 no body wants to see the Mummy series without Brandon. He is the identity for the series
The only thing I like from The Mummy 2017 is that mummy princess, she looks so beautiful. Unfortunately the 2017 version isn't as good as the 1999's one.
I got both movies on blluray and Crusie Mummy is not that bad its just more like a Michael Bay pace and style. The first 2 Mummy films had the Indiana Jones/ Spielberg fun and logic. Mummy 2017 have great creepier effects. I actually think Joss Whedon should have helmed the Dark Universe films.
You said you just watched the 1999 version but you keep getting details wrong about it like imitabs girlfriend was savagely murdered more like she committed suicide and also the pharaoh did not order Imhotep to be mummified because the Pharoh was already dead.
1999 Mummy is a silly film: but it embraces the silliness. It is played straight and that pays off. It is still fun to watch. Returns is not as good, but it is ok enough. And the 1932 original is a classic and an effective film even today. The 2017 Mummy I never saw. I saw the trailer and I felt sorry for everyone at the movies that day.
1999 The Mummy: Fun and a good story with likable characters all the way to the Mummy Returns. 2017 The Mummy: Trying too hard to be perfect that no fun or good story was there at all. Characters unlikeable.
Brendan Frazer was just plain Awesome in this trilogy he truly is a cool underrated character in this films love the director for this mummy movies and for Van Helsing now who gives a real legit fuck for Tom cruise? how arrogant and to expect to compete with Frazer fuck the 2017 false soulless pointless reboot
Well I refused to see the new one but I assume that's the worst. I think they go in order really. The first being the best and then a nice decline into total shit from there.
Should've been Tomb of the Dragon Emperor vs Mummy 2017, two real pieces of shit. But great Feud, that stick her with my dick line got me good. And Mummy Returns is number one for me, darn the score in that is insane!
In my book, the 1999 film is on par with the Transformers films and Roland Emmerich films. I don't know where this edenic view of the 1999 film came from, but it's a poor simulacrum of far better films. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong (people always do) but I fear we are so pistol-whipped by generic cinema of today that the mediocre films of yesterday are being hailed as classics: ID4, The Mummy, hell even the first Transformers are being misremembered in a fond light when compared the the dregs we get today.
I can see where you are coming from. They are popcorn blockbusters. Twister, The Mummy, ID4, Armageddon, etc. They are not good films in a lot of ways but they have some really fun effects, character situations and sense of adventure that set them apart. Hell, I like the first Transformers movie still (but that's where I draw the line with that franchise). Blockbuster movies are like pop music to me. They are typically pretty generic and all kinda do the same thing but if they have a solid hook I can get into it. There is a line still but I'm pretty flexible.
Can we all agree the mcu was awsome and fun but can we also all agree the mcu ruined film making now ever movie has to be a universe of endless movies , instead of one or 2 movies maybe a trilogy naw everything has to be a universe trying to recreate the mcu in everysingle movie invented anymore
w8 w8 they made the hero ..unkillable .... were they high? that like murders any suspense (u dont have that much to begin with since he is the hero) u might have had
Probably should add a Big Bang Theory laugh track. Comedy is tough. It's not going to work for everyone. Thanks for giving it a shot. (Painfully awkward and sarcastically douchy is what this channel is all about. You made the right call.)
Honestly, I don't Think the 199 Version is All that Great and Neither is the 2017 version. they're both just Campy-Horror-Themed-Action-Pop-Corn Flicks. the 1999 version is Enjoyable but it just doesn't work as a remake of the Mummy. hell, I don't even get why People even like Brendan Fraser. he's a Terrible Actor and he acts like he doesn't even care about the mummy anymore. and the 2017 Version is pretty much the Same. except with a better Lead and Better Effects. (Sure the 1999 Versions Effects were fine for there Time, but they just don't hold up anymore. like....at all) I can't really choose any of these to really recommend to people. if you Wanna Watch a Mummy Movie that actually Works, Watch the 1932 Original. that's honestly better than these two films combined.
2017 rocks coz my brother that movie and also my family 1999 was not good one coz the other day I'm was heading bad day and there was an disgusting things about that movie So that means the winner the mummy 2017

Adam Does Movies the mummy 2012 is better the mummy has amazing power
Are you using the Transformers font?
Why did you not include the classic 1932 Boris Karloff version?
Can we get old story back
this one is literally a no-contest fight, Brendan Fraser's 1999 The Mummy takes this Feud hands down.
Fraser is Fraser!
It's unfortunate that this talented actor's carrier is in shambles right now.
The mummy 1999: A fun guilty pleasure
The mummy 2017: One of the worst blockbuster movies ever.
So melodramatic...
Visually speaking....90's ain't got squat. In fact it's practically laughable at the opening CGI scene.
Tom Cruise mummy made double its budget so it’s pretty successful.
The Mummy 1932: Classic
No 2017 rocks
1999 all the way. Excellent movie, great characters, REALISM, and well balanced CGI.
The mummy 1999 is better than the crappy 2017 one. The 1999 mummy is one of my favourite movies
Parth Marathe It came out in 1999 not '97
😂 99 bro
1999 wins by a mile
Forget mile, by a light-year.
No
German Reich the owner of DUTTP yep
On the 2017 has not a chance against Brendan's 1999 movie. It's got charm, a good cast with chemistry and overall very fun. I loved it as a kid and I still do. Jogwheel is it a good idea to microwave a mummy?

1999 Mummy is the best the 2017 Mummy is trash
the mummy 1999 best movie..
I grew up with 1999 mummy and iv always loved it. Nothing will ever come close.
The irony. The Mummy 1999 was a stand alone movie that ended up being the first in a trilogy. The Mummy 2017 was the first movie in a series that was over after that one movie.

not even a question, the Mummy from the 90s beats 2017's Mummy any day. To me i just did not enjoy the Mummy from 2017 at all.
Brendan Fraser is the only one who can do this movie!
I love 1999, so much! I didn't watch new one... from trailers I knew I didn't have to.
I just saw the Mummy 1999 version and I think it’s one of the best blockbusters ever made I’m never watching the Tom cruise version period
I like the Brendan Frasier one much better. It had actual Egyptian mythology baked into it. I enjoyed that. The curses and stuff were cool. It was much more of a creepy scary kind of movie. The new Mummy is all action and no substance.
Hahahahaha _YES!_ *Now* I don’t have to see the new one and the 1999 one remains one of my favourite guilty pleasures of all time 👏🏽😊👏🏽
the absolute best Mummy film is the 1932 film starring Boris Karloff
Please someone bring Brendan Frasier back
The Mummy 1999 was a one off movie that became popular enough to spawn a trilogy while The Mummy 2017 was a franchise starter that will end up being a one off movie.
The mummy 1999 is better than the new one.
The Mummy was the best anime I've ever seen.
The world needs more angry mummy puns.
The Mummy 1999 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% better
For some reason, no matter how many bad things I hear about Mummy 2017, I still kind of want to see it. I know I'll regret it, but still tempting...
SAME THE 1999 ONE IS BOMB. THE 2017 IS PURE CRAP.
Adam, if it makes you feel any better, the Brendan Fraser movies have pretty much been confirmed to exist in the same universe as the 2017 film. They even had the gold book from the Brendan movies shown briefly in the 2017 movie
1999
The Mummy trilogy is fun, I seen The Mummy Returns first. The 2017 version was okay.
The original of course would be the 1932 Mummy starring Boris Karloff. The original is amazing.
Love this feud! Adam should do a feud for “The Mummy Returns” Vs. “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”
Can you do King Arthur: Legend of the Sword vs King Arthur (2004) vs Excalibur or something like that? That would be interesting.
Ty for finally doing this one bro!
🤘🏻😉👍🏻
Even The Mummy Returns was Enjoyable, Fun, Campy and Awesome! It beats the Mummy 2017. The Mummy 3? Idk. It's pretty equal to the newer one...
Eric Stoltz 'mask' vs Jim Carreys 'the mask'
I'm surprised no one had mention that the first remake was actually The Mummy 1959 with Christopher Lee.
The 1999 Mummy is the 2nd remake and then the 3rd remake is the 2017 Mummy.
Adam let's get Scott Pilgrim vs. the World vs Baby Driver
Whiplash95 why?
Whiplash95 It's so easy Scott Pilgrim vs the world
I genuinely just don't remember the '99 version, but I don't think it would hold up in the regards everyone weirdly tried to praise it recently. That being said it's probably still better than the recent version, even though I didn't hate it that much compared to everyone else
1999's was made with love and people who actually knew something about movies, 2017 one was pure garbage
Same with king kong from 2000's
man, you crack me up even at 12:33 when I should be sleeping haha. keep up the good work!
That Mummy pun got me gut... Well played sir
okay I'm going to say this now the mummy with Brendan Fraser it was a genius it was the best franchise for The Mummy Return of the Mummy was even better now Tomb of the emperor Dragon I'm going to admit it was a little weird but it still had Brandon Frazier it was awesome I have to give it a 4 out of 5 stars because Brandon Fraser is still in there but now the new Mummy that's got Tom Cruise as mr. horse says from Ren and Stimpy no sir I don't like it
I love the mummy (1999)than every thing 😍😘💏💋💋💋💋👄👍👌
1999 mummy: best representation of the 1940s serials
2017 mummy aka (the marvelitous mummy) : rip of marvel.
I have watched the Mummy (1999) multiple times.I have no interest in watching the Mummy(2017):-(
I miss Brendan Fraser too.
1999's is still far better than 2017's ..
It had been more than 20 years but it's magic still works 😍😍😍😍 no body wants to see the Mummy series without Brandon.
He is the identity for the series
1999-Mummy was good
One of the only reasons I wanted to see the remake was to hear that hilarious Tom Cruise scream that was in the trailer
I definitely perfer the 1999 version of the mummy it's a true classic i love to watch on Friday family movie nights 👍😊!
The mummy 1999 blockbuster
The mummy 2017 flop
Mummy 1999 my best movie
The only thing I like from The Mummy 2017 is that mummy princess, she looks so beautiful. Unfortunately the 2017 version isn't as good as the 1999's one.
Hollywood is running out of ideas
1999 mummy was way better, in fact the mummy tomb of the dragon emperor was better then 2017 mummy!
What is a Dark Universe anyway?
Brendan Fraser fan.
Really liked this video
1999 Mummy is a silly film: but it embraces the silliness. It is played straight and that pays off. It is still fun to watch. Returns is not as good, but it is ok enough.

I actually liked the mummy 2017 but I loved the mummy 1999
Why did they remake this? who even asked for this?
1999 The Mummy: Fun and a good story with likable characters all the way to the Mummy Returns.
2017 The Mummy: Trying too hard to be perfect that no fun or good story was there at all. Characters unlikeable.
The Mummy 2017: 🤢💩🤡
Well, this is the piece of shit!
The Mummy 1999: 🗿👑🔥
One of the best movie from my childhood.
Why not compare it to the 1932 classic?
I guessed because this video targets Casuals.
Biggest problem with movies today is the over use of cheap cgi.
Brendan Frazer was just plain Awesome in this trilogy
he truly is a cool underrated character in this films
love the director for this mummy movies and for Van Helsing
now who gives a real legit fuck for Tom cruise?
how arrogant and to expect to compete with Frazer
fuck the 2017 false soulless pointless reboot
99 Mummy, Brandon Frasier is the fuckin man! Ever heard of a little movie called Encino Man?? Yep nuff said
the mummy 1999 rocks
When your name is is the same as this awesome star.
1999 Film Wins All The Way and Wayy Better then the 2017 film
Fuck it, you've won me over im subscribing
Star Trek : beastie boys edition lol
That's a good one
Adam which transformers movie do you consider the worst of the (already bad) films taking the last knight into account
The mummy 1999 is way better 👍 than the mummy 2017 👎
Mummy 1999 is alot better

1999 ofc, I hate 2017 cause is worst movie all time

First time watching your channel. Comparison content is good. Personality and jokes were just painfully awkward. Gave up 3 minutes in.
Probably should add a Big Bang Theory laugh track. Comedy is tough. It's not going to work for everyone. Thanks for giving it a shot. (Painfully awkward and sarcastically douchy is what this channel is all about. You made the right call.)
Hi Adam.
Hello.
I pick 2017
2017 rocks coz my brother that movie and also my family 1999 was not good one coz the other day I'm was heading bad day and there was an disgusting things about that movie
So that means the winner the mummy 2017
No.
Tom was in the mommy Adam I seen it Adam I see a it
