I seem to remember a nasty old Cod Fishing vessel that was the fleet. 1 ship of questionable durability and serviceability. I think Greenpeace was operating the Rainbow Warrior and the Oh Hana Kai at that time. Pretty boats they were while the sea shepherd was not. That was like 45 years ago or something like it. Then a film maker named Chris came along and things changed. I hope this fleet continues to grow and attract crew from around the world. This planet is worth saving and I don't see the Cousteaus or Greenpeace having the gonadal fecundity to stand between life and commerce.

I though it makes sense to fuel your own boat with solar panels, and not be dependent on diesel when you are in the middle of nowhere Plus no maintenance of a combustible engine, no noise, no smell and you gain extra room where the engine and components used to be
Yes electric/hybrid ships have the future, i would choose for a sonar panel boat when going on a trip like that. In the Netherlands there are popping up ships with the lengte of 135m to 200 who are electrical hybrid, everything Will Go green in the end

Pardon my ignorance, but is there some sort of significance, tradition, or superstition behind welding gold into the keel of the ship? I'm not very familiar with maritime traditions.
+Donkey Hotay Yeah, so it's apparently called a coin ceremony. You take a few coins and place or weld them on the keel during the keel laying ceremony. It's supposed to bring good luck and stuff.
I hope that it has a 50,000km range on a full tank, go 2x as fast as the harpoon ships, go at full speed through super pack ice without any problems too.
