I did my Veer-my team for Dreadball a very similar colour of armour years back. It really does look good in contrast with the fur. Of course you make the painting look way easier!
I give it a lot of stick, but I actually really like Stegadon Scale Green. With the right highlight colour you can quite significantly change its overall appearance.
You're absolutely right in the, "Why would you make things harder for yourself?" aspect of the hobby. Not to accuse painters that paint to a higher standard-strictly of competition-but sometimes we get so wrapped up with having everything be extremely highlighted that we forget what the end goal is supposed to be as well. For I'm very doubtful that master center pieces are played with if at all, for they are serving a different purpose than being pieces of a game instead. Thus that is why I really love your approach to the hobby.
I've been lucky enough to play against some really gorgeously painted armies before, and if I had the time I really would go all-out and lavish each miniature with attention as you see some painters do... but man oh man, who's got the time for that, really?! 😅
Much obliged! They're very cool figures, really, but without there being scores of painted examples and guides out there I did struggle at first to make a move on just how I wanted him to look. Can't beat that blue once it's shaded!
This is an awesome paint scheme! I got some Steel Warriors from Mantic a couple days ago and have been painting them different colors. I did see your video on the steel warrior, by the way 😁 But I think a similar paint scheme like this one would work for them.
Just a bright splash of colour somewhere will really set off a dark miniature, if there's a sensible place for it to go. Can't beat glowing goggles for that one!
Nice! Got a couple boxes of Deadzone Ratkins for cheap, that have been slumping in my pile of shame since then. Between OPR having a list for them and this tutorial, it might be just time to give them a shot.
I'll not lie, the OPR stuff has been a big kick in the butt for some of my hobby projects the last few months. Really been exciting seeing them go from strength to strength!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Smaller scale battles are the magic trick that did it for me. Brought me back to the feel of the softcover Rogue Trader I played as a 14 yo in 1989. Plus, they have actual rebel lists! Rebels! And weird stuff! Yes, multiple kicks in the butt. ;-)
I have to admit that the main rules for Kings of War leave me a little baffled in some respects - the way that units Cha-Cha Slide into position after wheeling to charge, for example - but the miniatures themselves are pretty bloody good, and the smaller games they do feel much more satisfying.
Yeah Mournfang was a great sprey :( however sadly there are not "Brown" marines so GW wont bring it back! XD . . . I did paint up some really nice brown powerarmour marines that look pretty ace ;3
Quick and simple armour recipe - total win
Nice to see some mantic miniatures there is not much mantic content in UA-cam so thank you

Yes Yes !
This is wonderful :-) The undercoat color and the blue armor were perfect choices!
Thank you kindly! That green really is my favourite blue. 🤣
finally gotten to watch this and I got to say this fellow would make a great companion enemy against the new take of Squats that GW made
Mantic Games you say-squeak?
Let me check-check...
$150 for entire army-force? Hahaha! No more warp tokens for you-you games workshop things!
Love that blue green armour

His pose makes me think he's meeting his son from school.
Great job boss!
Ha! It kinda does look like that... "C'MERE, BOY! TELL YOUR OLD MAN WHAT YOU GOT UP TO TODAY." 😂
This is great. Just a really nicely executed paint job that really elevates the miniature.

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Oh I totally know the feeling!
Really nice work . Finally got around to listening to your interview with Henry Hyde, very enjoyable. All the best to you from down here in Tasmania.
Henry's a brilliant host, it was a real treat to get to speak with him and just riff on his questions.
What a fantastic painting video. Really well done
That armor! Amazing.
Great tutorial, Mantic Games make great miniatures and are a lot cheaper than GW, deadzone is actually a really fun game too
That is one big rat! The color scheme looks great. Thanks for sharing this.

Wow, those eyes came out fantastic! I'm astonished by how much that brings the whole model up. Great work!

Awesome color scheme!!
I love your paintwork!
Great color scheme!
Great stuff as usual.. the fantasy mini painting is my fave
Thank you ,( Sonic) , Troy .
Love this range I really love this paint scheme I may have to steal it friend 🤗 keep up the great work
Go for it! The plan is that it'd get used, after all. :D

More-more Rat-things!
Stunning works love the armour awesome 👍🏻
Glad you like it! It's one of those colours that I try to find an excuse to use sometimes, it looks really nice. :D
I'm only here for the Agrax Earthshade step.
I love kings of war's model and rules policies, id love to see your take on an abyssal dwarf model!
I've got some of the sci-fi dwarves lurking... Forgefathers, I think they're called?
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio they are indeed and they are lovely models in my opinion
I was just thinking about looking for brown primer.. funny
Ah yes, the age old Mantic strap fetish...
There are rather a lot of them, it's true...
Really enjoyed this. I'm kind of a Kings of War curmudgeon--don't really like the game or lore--but I admit they have some good looking models.
