@@Misery_Of_One you can never know with this band, Billie started playing Oh Love and only stopped cuz he messed up. They dig up old songs every couple of years
whatshername is how you end an album. love this song more than words can describe. it becomes more meaningful as one matures and almost unbearable to look back on life. the regrets are useless, i'm so happy with how my life has played out and the person i'm spending the rest of my life with. even so, when i reflect on the past, this song provides a cathartic nostalgia that i must confess.
I remember as a teenager it was almost impossible to listen to this record all the way through without getting teary while listening to this song at the end. Now I’m thirty and the song has picked up so much more meaning for me over the years that now it really is impossible.
Hell yes! I love this song! Easily my favorite from American Idiot and maybe top 3 from Green Day or at least top 5! They need to start playing this more often! This would be great towards the end of the set or in the encore!
My whatshername married an executive at one of America's huge chemical companies, owns a bunch of houses and has about 20 million in the bank. I think she did pretty well for herself. I am still a punk making movies about bands and writing music.
Seen Green Day waaay to many times since my first GD show during the Warning tour and I ALWAYS wished to see them play Church on Sunday. It's such a normal GD track but for some reason it's always the song i consider my favorite!
3:25 "And that was that or so it seemed. Is this the end or the beginning? All I know is, she was right. I am an idiot. It’s even on my birth certificate in so many words. This is my rage. This is my love. This is my town. This is my city. This is my life."
Omg 😳 Whatsername my fucking fav. Green Day Song! After all this Long time, seeing Them live at concerts and Festivals (once on Stage by know your enemy) , tatoo, working as security in their Pit 2017 etc. Great to See this amazing Performance! By the way „and then SHE took a Different path“ 😉
Back in 04-05 Tre used to play this song along to a click track, where he used headphones to keep time. Here he's just doing it by ear so it naturally just flows faster
Green Day should’ve made this song into a Single, instead of Jesus of Suburbia. Don’t get me wrong JOS is a GREAT SONG; or better yet JOS are still the single with MV and adding this as one of it, when it comes to ending a series of singles. Whatsername supposed to be their last single with thematic MV for the album. Like y’know seeing them on their prime, adding not only Jason White but all of the live members, put Sam. Bayer as the director of the MV - WHAT A TREAT! Don’t mention about the half-assed almost like fan-made MV that’s not what I’m talking about.
nah get Marc Webb to direct the MV. he directed the MV’s for 21 Guns, Last of the American Girls, and Waiting, as well as a few MCR MV’s and he also directed both of the Amazing Spider-man movies (AKA the Andrew Garfield films)
@@nawa786 I get it 😜. Great opinion! But just to put the same thematically coherent to the whole album’s singles that Sam Bayer did. Since that time Sam Bayer used films that he took a bath out of it for the real effects on the actual music videos. But Marc Webb could also be another options.
This is one of the best songs in their discography and I'm glad it received a full performance again after all these years. Thanks for sharing this.
If this is the last time then it’s a damn good send off

This and letterbomb are to criminally underrated greenday songs.
Homecoming...

It is such a strong closer, and it’s hard not to get choked up especially when the bridge hits
same here, it hits you differently nowadays
Easily one of the most underrated songs of all time, needs more views and popularity! Pure 2000s right here!
fucking A right it is. This song is some of the most pure concentrated emotion I've ever heard.
@@Linus76 damn right
2000s vibe pure!
i wish i get to see this song live someday.
what an honor to have been able to go to a green day show. More honor that they played this one. Congrats.
this is the song that convinced me to be a musician.

This easily one of their best. Fell in love with it instantly. Tre on drums. Just love it. Thanks for posting.

Lol Mike just chilling out before his parts come in
One of my favorite songs ever. God damn this is awesome performance
What an epic set list!!!
No puedo entender como esta canción no fue un hit mundial . Que bueno que la esten haciendo en vivo !!

They played church on Sunday at this concert. Call
My favorite song

One of my favorite
I saw them at Lollapalooza two days after this show but I would have preferred to see them at Metro
Sooooo good. Super underrated song 🖤
Que coisa mais linda!! Essa nunca poderia sair do set.
🤯🤯 cómo quisiera ver esas canciones en vivo!! Gracias por compartirlas 🥺🥺me hizo llorar escucharlas así
Thankyou for filming this!
How in the world could I have missed THIS?
Epic
It was amazing!!!
Wew, masih ada ya orang indonesia ngikutin Green day hahaha. ntapss
@@muhammadfadil5120 Masih gans, kalau udah suka mah mau ganti genre apapun tetep diikutin hehe

THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO!!!
I'll never turn back time.
Best song ever!!!!!
American Idiot! Is their best album ever. I loved high-school because of it. It got me through!
Masterpiece
Yup the lyrics hit hard.
What a dream

one of my absolute must do in life is to see greenday live. cause they will never come to my country.
really hope they play this on the UK tour
We’re in luck! :) can’t wait
❤️
The bullet in a bible movie they made that showed him crying when they finished recording this
Haha funny how Tre played his two drummfills reversed in the bridge section.
probably different set or just rushing. they're playing it a bit faster and he probably never played this for years
Does it seem a bit fast to anyone else?
He is probably just trying to get it done because that song means a lot to him
Yea it is faster, but it still rocks
Back in 04-05 Tre used to play this song along to a click track, where he used headphones to keep time. Here he's just doing it by ear so it naturally just flows faster
@@Jude8907 that’s a cool fact that you!
so sick
Wonder why they played it fast
Tre's probably not using the click track to keep time like he did in 2004-2005
I've been learning this song on drums, and I just realized that Tre reverses the fills at 2:59 and 3:06.
Now I wonder how Whatsername has been...
This looks like the best gig ever tbh playing all the lesser tunes
Lucky motherfuckers who experienced it live
One of my favorites off the entire American Idiot album.
It sounds like they sped this up a lot compared to the studio version, maybe Im just hearing things

Holy Fuck
The only song that Green Day played drop D
It's strange that the sound changes when you zoom out. Like as if you pull the camera itself to you.
Now we know this was to prepare for 2023/2024 lol
Did you record murder city??
lol just nitpicking here, but why do I hear the snare drum only as tre picks up his hand?
okay i thought i was the only one who noticed that 😂
is the bpm a bit faster?
Yeah
I dig it though
Pregunta random: Amanda era de Chicago? XD
so they have a backstage third guitarist and semi-backstage keyboardist huh
It makes me mad seeing a crowd standing still at a Green Day song
💚🥺🇺🇦😪
1.5x
Billie looked sad singing this one.
He's always sad when he's singing this song cause it's so personal and the lyrics are really moving tbh.
Pò esse un filu spagnolu?
Not quite my tempo
So jealous
what a lame crowd
Dead crowd
this must have been such a treat
