    I find it funny that having a “big bum” look was popular in historical dress just like it is now 😂

    I made a similar front drape for my first 1880s dress, but it was years ago and I can’t quite remember how I patterned it. 😂 This is looking great, what a fun project!

    This is looking lovely so far. I adore the fabrics you’ve chosen. Winning combination. Can’t wait to see the rest of this project come together.

    Thank you for the draping tips! I started draping a similar shape for my christmas bustle this weekend and now I can finish it! And yes I always work better to a deadline.😊

    Yes, I totally agree, the red shot fabric on Dora just gets muddied and it muddies her colors, too. It's a shame, because they are both beautiful.

    You're certainly right Dora 😺doesn't look good in red. For her beautiful coat color already has a lot of red in it😊. Maybe Dora needs a color consultant😂. Hello Mr. Lion. This dress 👗 will be beautiful when it's done 😊.

    Yes, like you, if there is no event lined up, I take a long time to complete a costume. I need a deadline to get me to finish an outfit quicker.

    The back bow looks really lovely and really makes waist look tiny!. This inspires me to dig out the one I was making in summer, which I got bored with, with only the front fastenings and the waist ties to finish it off. I think I have gained wieght since then too, so I think unpicking of bodice might ensue.

    Unfortunately I can’t sew without a deadline. I wish I could be more proactive, but apparently I need a fire before I can get motivated. 😂

    I think it is interesting how you can get the same front drape shape with a different shape of fabric, your has cuurved edges and the fashion plateis square edged, which you can tell from the plaid. Do we know of fashion plates copied real dresses or we made up? Maybe it was made up and it wouldn't have been possible to make it out of a square piece of fabric.

      @LadyRebeccaFashions  7 місяців тому +1

      The fashion plate would come first, and then someone may have made it, or it may never have been made. And you often can't trust plaid/stripe directions or seam lines (or lack thereof) because it was down to the artist.

    Hello miss Rebecca. I was wondering as a bigger girl myself what type of corset boning do you think is the best for hours of long ware in a corset or stays? I see SO many videos by small to medium sized ladies waring stays made with plastic boning. I have only ever used steel boning for my corsets, but as you know that is pricey. Is there a type of plastic boning that can stand up to heavy use and high body heat on a bigger lady?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  7 місяців тому +3

      Yep, I have several corsets that use synthetic whalebone, or German plastic boning. Those are the terms you want to look for. I think mine is 6.5 x 1.5mm

    How much will this dress weigh?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  7 місяців тому +2

      It will be very lightweight, as it's silk. The underlayers will weigh more, since I'm wearing it with a quilted petticoat.
