- Today we hit one of my favorite trails which just happens to be right in my backyard. This is the mineral basin trail. This trail Slowly winds you up the back side of Snowbird Ski Resort. Absolutely beautiful this time of year. Chase, Noah, Colby, and I had a great time. Hope you enjoy the video.

The amount of times the truck stalled in this video makes me think my auto isnt so bad anymore lol
This thing needs a driver MOD more than anything hahaha
@Paul depends. Definitely easier
Just got a stick 4Runner from my Neighbor. Perfect shape now I gotta put some cash into it
@@lucasjames2569 nice man. what year?
Lol I'm a total 4x4 newbie and am 3 weeks into having a 98 5 speed. I don't think I had stalled out or dumped the clutch on a stick since my stepdad taught me through trial by fire when I was young. I've lost count of how many times I've stalled or dumped on this rig, sadly even a couple of times on pavement lol. I blame it partly on the issue I was having with the clutch spring though lol. Bushing on the spring was toast and I tried to replace it yesterday only to destroy the new bushing in the process of trying to reassemble. Drove it after just removing the spring for a bit last night and realized the clutch feels vastly better with no spring (it's apparently not uncommon for people to run these no spring). The clutch just gets too stiff around the engagement point and I think it pushes me off of that too quickly with that spring in IMO whereas now it's just steady pressure the whole way. I don't need the feedback that I think they were going for with the way they designed that spring, seeing my revs, feeling the smoothness and hearing the engine are all the feedback I need as far as whats going on with my clutch engagement.
You guys really enjoy driving on every rock instead of just going on down the trail!
We out here to wheel, not take bypasses lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Yusuf Jake 😑
Shout out to Austin Garage for not playing shiiity music and allowing us to experience the rumble in the jungle and the exhaust notes. The Black 3rd gen is bad assssss. Love it. Keep it guys.
Awesome video man, thank you for not playing shit music over it. It’s nice to hear the trucks, tires, and such. Great job filming, and it was cool to see these three rigs modified to different levels on this trail taking obstacles and see how they performed. I’ve been up this canyon but haven’t been on this trail yet, but I for sure will the next chance I get. I hope you keep this going!
Thanks man. Haha I try to not use music as much as possible. Appreciate it I'm still learning a ton of how to make a good video. If you want to go I'd be down to go with.
Austin's Off Road Garage you’re welcome man, it’s cool to see someone local making content that’s enjoyable to watch. I’d for sure be down to go, I have an FJ on 35’s with bumpers, sliders, skids, winch etc. I’ll message you on IG.
I appreciate that. This state has to much to offer thought id share haha. very nice we will for sure have to hit a trail sometime.
this is so sick, I love that black 4runner
thank you!
Great job on the video! This looks like an awesome trail, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
This was rad! I like the way dude in the red runner drives lmao.
thanks man! haha yeah Noah don"t care to much about his runner.
Best 3rd gen ive seen on UA-cam. Most others are badass looking but yours is badass and performs amazing from the look of it
Thanks man. 4Runner works well.
Loved the video my man! Your 4Runner is straight goals!! 🤙🏾
Thanks man!
Love your 4runner. It's exactly how I want mine to be someday, I just gotta make some compromises because I daily it also.
I appreciate it man thanks! I used to daily this. Only reason i don't anymore is my commute doubled, Needed a little better MPGs haha
Good day of beating on the rigs. Can't wait for the next one!
Where should we go next is the question???
That was pure awesomeness
Thanks! 🤘
This is the best off road video on UA-cam.
Thanks!
Looks like a fun place🤘🏻
Way rad man. Love that trail.
Badass video and nice trail, I subbed!
Thanks man! Welcome to the channel!
This looks like so much fun. Subbed and liked.
It's a blast! Welcome & Thanks!
Awesome buddy
Glad you liked it
Sweet truck! Hey my name is Austin and I also have a supercharged 3rd gen 4runner lol
thanks! haha rad man!
So cool! Thanks for the upload!!
Glad you liked it. Very welcome.
@@austinsoffroadgarage btw I was able to successfully replace my differential on my 4runner thanks to your videos on the subject
That"s awesome man! glad it helped. how does she drive?
@@austinsoffroadgarage drives great, I'm ready to pull my little fishing boat to some remote lakes
That's awesome. Sounds like a great time.
Stopping by and showing love brotha
thank you!! appreciate it!!
30:06 was giving me flashbacks of my white tundra right there haha
haha that was a good day!
@Austin's Off Road Garage gotta get my sliders for the gold one and we can hit the repeat
Lets doo it man. I need a Moab trip soon too!
Bow and Arrow are awesome! I've got a 97 4runner that I'm doing suspension and tires on right now, any suggestions on places in Utah to go test out my new lift and 33's on?
Greetings from La Vega Dominican Republic very difficult the route I have 4runner 98 they are a very good vehicle
Hello from Utah! They are awesome rigs for sure. Thanks!
Which front/rear bumper tire carrier do you have on the green 4Runner? Nice to see someone reppin us Utah bois!
Addicted Off Road Front, 4Xinnovations rear. Hell yeah man!
Nice rig
Thanks 🤘
Great! Brasil, South América, rio de janeiro, beautiful city
Great video! Quick question what year is that bronco in your garage?
Haha wish I knew 😆
@@austinsoffroadgarage love to see a snowy trail
I love traveling and getting into the back Bush country but I try my hardest not to tear my equipment up! it's too expensive and I was poor since I was a kid. work hard to try to get anything and got my first Toyota now im 67! and it's a 2006 330 some thousand miles on it and I'm working on it now! still don't know what I have
Is driving a manual on trails like this still enjoyable? I DD a manual but I have never been off roading. I'll drive manuals as long as I am physically able and I am curious if they are fun off road too.
I think so. It raises the difficulty for sure. but I enjoy that part of wheeling seeing how I can push myself and my rig. I always kill it as you can see in this video haha and that's the reality of it, you will kill it. now if I was in a buggy doing some really crazy lines Id take an auto over the manual. That being said you can run a dual case setup and have super low gears and basically it will take a lot of having a "manual" out of the equation. I have an 86 Toyota pickup(manual trans) with duals and gears in the axles and in low low it will drive it self up a cliff haha. So the short answer for me would be yes its fun.
Austin what sliders do you have on your truck?
Addicted Offroad sliders and front bumper.
How beginner rig friendly is this? I’m looking into getting a Manual 3rd Gen soon. Once I do some simple modifications could I do this trail?
This trail you would want some experience. there are easier trails around this area though.
What size wheels do you have? They look perfect
Stealth Custom Series SR8s in a 16x8
I’m quite new to off-road vehicles and I’m looking forward to buying a 3rd gen 4Runner, but I have a question. What is the red stick thing mounted on the back of your 4Runner?
Welcome to the 4x4 world! That is a high lift jack. Has a multiple uses. Saved my butt a few times on the trail!
Hi Lift jacks are very good when ur in some tricky places
What tire pressure are you guys running? Kinda looks a little high
I run 15 psi usually. I think the other guys are about the same.
@@austinsoffroadgarage 13.69 psi
Same here looked high
@@epicone2449 next video I'm showing what psi I run so I quit getting these silly comments haha
where'd you get that antenna?? mine won't go up anymore so I'm looking for one like yours
This is a Amazon special haha. And I removed the actual antenna. This is just for looks haha (I know it's sad haha) I didn't want a hole just chilling there. Used a Tacoma antenna mount.
@@austinsoffroadgarage definitely gonna look into doing that. it looks good
Do you have a video of what lift and size of tyre you run?
ua-cam.com/video/VlPi6NfJEhM/v-deo.html
I now run 2.5 kings up front, OME 861s and bielstien 5100 shocks in the rear since i have posted this video. also run a 315/75/R16 BFG KM3.
@@austinsoffroadgarage Thank you! Great videos man keep them coming.
Do you ever take off sway bar when trailing?
I personally do not run a sway bar front or rear.
Who makes the wheels on your black 4runner? And that front bumper too?
ua-cam.com/video/OU9LIpPREkE/v-deo.html
has all your answers
What kind of bumper is on the red runner?
I believe it is a TJM bumper.
Can you teach me how to get western?
when and where my guy?
fire? I'm gonna name my dog's max and over, for maximum overdrive. Wrf
Do you ever take it mudding? Or is it just a straight rock crawler?
I stick to the rocks mostly. if there is mud on the trail I'm not afraid to have a little fun.
Could you do this with a stock trd Tacoma?
If you drive smart for sure.
18:23 is why it’s all fun & games with IFS, until it isn’t
haha For sure a different approach than a solid axle. Still a ton of fun finding the limit on the IFS setup.
You're not from Utah...I'm guessing NC, right?
Utah born and raised.
Well Darn..I thought I detected a familiar accent! Nice rig!!
“Now and arrow “ 😂😂 did you do that on purpose or ?
Hey man, I know this is probably a lot but I’m buying my 98 tmro for off roading but I don’t know a whole lot about all the equipment and add ons I’m gonna need to off-road. Can you tell me what size tires you have? The lift kit and suspension, what kind of chassis you have, what kind of skid plate, can you tell me an estimate of the prices as well? Oh and the supercharger price? That was a badass video btw, I’ll be back to watch more for sure
This video will answer most of you questions. ua-cam.com/video/OU9LIpPREkE/v-deo.html
You can find a refurbished SC on ebay for 3-4 thousand.
Thanks!
@@austinsoffroadgarage thank you so much man! I look forward to seeing more of you guys off roading!
What goes up has to go down..
Couldn't agree more.
That an FJ40 I see hiding in that early Garage shot?
That is a FJ45 my man!
@@austinsoffroadgarage Awesome! couldn't seen the back end. I have a '74 Fj40 myself with lots of "extra ventilation" that's my project
very cool man. Like a buggy? or what?
@@austinsoffroadgarage Still has a solid F motor with only 49K but has tons of michigan rust so getting back to daily driver. Long term I want to restomod with power steering and a 2.8 Cumm. Diesel
That's awesome man. Love the old cruisers. The 45 is getting a 5.3, auto trans, atlas transfer case, and bunch of other goodies. Already has a spring over kit and 37s. Should be a ripper when it's done.
Video footage does not do justice for how gnarly mineral basin is. Same with Mary Ellen gulch. I ran both trails in September in my 85 4Runner. These trails are way worse than they were 10 years ago
I agree. The camera never does it justice. But two of my favorite trails. Let's go wheel some time. I have an 86 pickup as well
@@austinsoffroadgarage I’m in Saratoga Springs we should for sure
Guy in black 4Runner needs an automatic. 😂
That guy being me needs a heavier fly wheel. or a dual t case setup. but thanks for the advice.
Does no one in this video know how to choose a line or air down? Some real interesting... lines being chosen.
Nope we need a web wheeler to come show us.
C'mon man. We are out here messing around having fun. And we are aired down we know what we're doing. The trail is completely wet traction is not a thing.
Post a video and show us how it’s done
@@noahchristensen155 what kind of bumper do you have on the front?
@@jeremyleon4840 Its a TJM Front
That poor starter. Prolly should keep a spare one in the truck
I know this thing needs a driver mod lol
love the car but the DRIVER IS REALLY SUCKS!!!
Thanks I appreciate it!! Your kind words inspire me.
You guys are hard on equipment. Need some lessons.
No lessons needed. We actually use are stuff. Thanks though.
You must be a professional right??
@@austinsoffroadgarage Couldn’t have said it any better myself. People just can’t resist being negative. Have a good day sir, enjoy life.
Your friend has no respect for your rig nor he can drive
I disagree.
