    What a nice surprise, Pamir is my favourite multiplayer SM game! Played it solo a couple of times, and frankly, I like Pax Porfiriana better for solo play. It might be that Pamir can go easily out of control, for me at least, when you play it solo. It might be the spies walking around while doing the usual pax stuff, who knows. I mean it's more chaotic in some ways, while Porf feels more strategic for solo play. Am I wrong? Looking forward to be convinced of the opposite. ;) Keep them coming, please.

      It is more chaotic, yes (I think I talk a little about this in Part 2). Though Porfiriana can be pretty confrontational multi-player too, the solo game is definitely more so in Pamir. We're sure to see evidence of this as we head into Part 3....

    Ricky, I was wondering if we will ever get another play through of Mage Knight, your original play throughs (5 years old!) are still essential viewing for anyone interested in the game. I for one would love to see another.

    Did you get yourself a copy of Bios: Megafauna 2 yet? I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

      Not yet ... high on my wish list though! Have you played?

      Yes, I have played a couple games unopposed (but not using the packaged solitaire rules) and find it to be a nice advancement to what the first edition was attempting to do. I could list the great qualities of the game, but what I will mention instead is that I really think you will get a kick out of how the landmasses move and potentially crash into each other. Aside from a few component issues I have, BM2 is fantastic.

    Thanks for doing this Ricky. I bought the game on the strength of your solo rules, kind of understood what needed doing, but it has never really clicked...until now. Tick v.g.

      Ricky, without blowing smoke anywhere, I’ve found all your videos very useful indeed. Just waiting for that one Phil Eklund game... High Frontier!

    Thanks! Do you need the expension in order to play the solo game?

    • @BoxofDelights

      you don’t. Although the rules are in the expansion, you can also download them.

      @@BoxofDelights thanks! Dontou think the expension is a must for this game?

      @@gidiyaniv82 not a "must", no. It's fun to include it in multi-player games though.

    I tell you, this hobby is frustrating. Ever since I got into boardgaming, I've been looking for games based on the "Great Game" era and locales. There are surprisingly few (which is a shame). I just got "The Great Game" from Legion Wargames....and now I discover Pax Pamir, with these wonderful cards and that wonderful board that perfectly evokes the time and theme. But it's out of print. Of course it is. These games are always out of print. Sigh...

      There's a bit of good news here. This one is being re-released with an updated ruleset from Cole . Look out for it !

    I long debated checking this game out. Do both games (Pax Porfiriana and Pax Pamir) come in the deluxe box?

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  6 років тому

      They don't, no. Just Porfiriana.

    Ricky you thinking about playing Hunt for the Ring?

      @BoxofDelights  6 років тому +1

      I did check it out when I was last in my FLGS, but I'm not sure how I could present this one on the channel.. not without recruiting some co-presenters :)

      @MrReddy64 6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the response! Figured you look into it since you did War of the Ring and Battle of Five Armies... So here's to hoping you get those co-presenters! haha Keep up the awesome work. Cheers!

    What occurs if the AI player does not have enough coins for the selected card?

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  6 років тому +2

      They pick the first one they can afford to the left of it.

    • @JPFalcononor

      Thanks for the reply...so based on your card counting system where both 0 cards represent 7, does the 0 card on the bottom row not be included in the selection process from the die result?

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  6 років тому

      Shere Khan rolls twice, once for the top row and once for the bottom row. Selection goes 7 - 6/8 - 5/9 - 4/10 - 3/11 - 2/12 from left to right. You do this once for the top row and then again for the bottom row. E.g. when rolling for the top row, if you roll a 6 or an 8 he takes the 1-cost card; if he then rolls a 2 or a 12 for the bottom row, he takes the 5-cost card from the bottom row. Hope this helps! Check out Part 2 to see this play out again. Enjoy !
