They are the first ones I thought of...in the beginning Walmart didn't want them wearing masks because it would "scare the customers". We order our groceries online and have them brought to our car and have for years. The Asst manager said she hadn't had one day off since it all began. This was in August! Bless their hearts...they deserve recognition, and all who move the food chain deserve recognition. Had they been too frightened and stayed home, we would have starved. We now know who is essential. Other than tips, I wish there was something that could be done to recognize them. Amazing insight to who truly is important...the ones we've taken for granted all our lives!

That is what I have been saying since the beginning... Big thanks to all the grocery store workers! We need to show our appreciation by giving them a raise... They deserve one even without the pandemic. But. They are absolutely the people that are exposed to a lot of germs on a daily basis, not to mention the crazy, rude, aggressive customers.

Definitely not. I'm sure that if they could they would get a different job but.. not much of that going around. Wouldn't you work somewhere else other than a supermarket if you could? Life is for living not just existing, that’s what’s been missed throughout all of this. No one is coming out of this alive in the long run. You have to live for the now, it’s the only time that exists, the past and future are just abstracts, they don’t exist the now does. God forbid but What if your grandchildren died before Christmas next year? you’ll damn sure wish you’d spent this one with them..

That was what I was wondering about that number. I mean, I've answered some of these Covid questionairies and sometimes given similar answers because of similar reasons. Yes I will fly abroad as much this year as I did last year (that is, not at all, I haven't been on an airplane since 2009). Sometimes such numbers are more a result of how a question was framed than a reflection of reality.

It's been so stressful and right now there are 3 people that tested positive in our area. My hands are so dried out from the sanitizer but if it keeps us safe I can deal with it. It's awesome to see their faces light up when I extend the tip and tell them to keep safe. People need to know others care, especially at this time. Dear Dr Campbell, Thank you for keeping us informed. Shouldn't there be a hotline from every country in the world to the Taiwan Vice-President's office for regular updates of possible incoming future pandemics? The Vice-President of Tailwan, I believe his name is Hu, is a former imunologist or someone in this line of work. When he heard from the grapevine of a new virus coming down the pike last December or January, he immediately put the country into lockdown. If our countries could get feedback directly from Taiwan, we may be able to copy the Taiwanese example and nip the next plague in the bud.

    • @jvanstyn
      @jvanstyn 4 роки тому

@George Robartes I had an adverse reaction. I got all achy. I think I might have ran a slight fever but I didn't confirm it with a thermometer. I felt like shit and I'm just now recovering. At least I wasn't sick for long.
The adverse effects that I got was a good thing because it was my body producing a robust immune response. I'm glad I got this robust immune response because it tells me that the inoculation worked and it worked well. When I get my flu shot, I never get any response at all. As a result, I'm at a greater chance of getting the flu than someone who had a robust immune response. My brother Andrew complained how he was sick from his flu shot. I explained to him that he wasn't really sick, he had a robust immune response to the flu shot and that that was a good thing.
I'm going to see about getting a titer test for MMR before I go to Washington, DC for the Trump Rally. If my titer levels are too low, I won't go and I'll see about getting a second shot at 4 weeks after the MMR shot I took on the 25th.
As the population is densly packed in cities and our children go to schools, vaccines are the best way to keep yourself and your family safe from these horrible diseases. If you get mumps as an adult you can end up sterile when the disease settles in your testicles. Polio ua-cam.com/video/gplA6pq9cOs/v-deo.html
and rubella. I had a friend who's mom had rubella when he was in the womb. He's mostly blind and he has other deformities as well. I've lost track of him but he would be 71 now.
So, yes. I had an adverse reaction to this MMR shot and I'm glad I did. If you have an adverse response to your flu shot, or any immunization, you should be glad also.

My neighbor went to go visit her grandchildren for Mother's Day and died of COVID-19 three weeks later. She went against the Stay At Home Orders. Her last words to me were " I would rather die than not see my children and grandchildren." Her family learned the hard way the importance of mask wearing and quarantine measures.
I am a first time Grandma this year. My daughter and her husband adopted three children. We all quarantined 6 months and tested before we met and we take precautions very seriously.
My son and his wife just had a Baby. I quarantined for 30 days, not even essential grocery shopping, and tested, before my granddaughter's birth. Just so I could safely see her.
Now I am celebrating Thanksgiving at home with only members of my own household. We will video chat with other family members. I think we could safely meet in person if both families agreed to quarantine for one month and test prior. But I do not want to encourage traveling and meeting outside of one's own household. I am trying to be a good rollmodel for my family and clients.
Unfortunately I live in a country full of people who would rather eat one marshmallow NOW. I personally know 26 people, all different ages, who have died of COVID-19. They all had one thing in common. They all believed the lie" COVID-19 can't happen to me." They all chose to meet in groups indoors not wearing masks. Their friends and families are still grieving their losses.
I encourage everyone I know to take vitamin D3 and to wear well fitting P95 masks and eye protection. I think we are going to lose many more people to COVID-19. All because they chose to meet in groups indoors during Thanksgiving , Hanukkah and Christmas. I wish you all a Safe holiday season. Please celebrate responsibly. I am sending love and hugs from Washington State, USA, Jeanne of In Loving Hands Counseling and ASMR

Most do not get hazard pay so they're earning very little and while they were allowed to call off for respiratory illness earlier in the pandemic I've got it straight from the horse's mouth (from my old coworkers) that this is no longer the case. The managers wear Hawaiian shirts...we have been back to back as cashiers (2ft apart no plexiglass btwn workers) for almost 2 months now. Crossing my fingers for after Thanksgiving. At least everyone has a mask on. Staying home w my husband and our child this year. No one extra at all. Staying smart in Connecticut bc the risk is too big. The company says every other register has been shut down company-wide to protect us but they haven’t. Sometimes we are back to back or side by side for up to 2 hours at a time. Every store does what it wants. It’s sad we’re so dispensable. I’m hoping that the risk is small even though we are so close bc we have masks on.

We are having a scaled down Thanksgiving with only ppl in our bubble, windows open, masks and zooming family that are not coming. No travel, all local. And not staying long. Politically we’re all independents. I also predict a huge surge and lots of ruined Xmases. Lots of denial going on. It’s very very sad.

There are a great many people in the U.K. who, I feel, rely on and trust what the government is saying in order to inform their behaviour. Even though the government have suggested people should make their own decisions they really haven’t made the dangers anywhere clear enough. This means that many will believe it’s safe to mix families and age groups at Christmas, as they haven’t been given transparent access to all the relevant information. One of the saddest things about the forthcoming spike will be that families will have to live with the fact they have actually killed other family members, at Christmas. It makes me want to weep for all those tragedies just around the corner. On a more humorous note, I remember during the first lockdown when all the supermarket shelves had been stripped bare, the only thing left on the beer shelves was Corona beer. Just about sums up the general level of understanding! Happy, SAFE thanksgiving to you all in the US.

Could the difference in immunity between the half dose and full dose be due to the immune system targeting the adenovirus rather than the covid bits?

Well hey at least you know that if at some point in the future a really deadly virus outbreak would occur, you better pack your shit and run as far away as possible. 😂

To ignore Science is a choice. There's also dangerous stupidity. People wilfully choose ignorance. Some people are born stupid. Both groups and some with both characteristics are a threat to the rest of us.

What is the amount of time from point of contact with virus to detection by testing? How long does it need to be in our systems before getting a positive result?

As an exchange student it is well known that the “reverse culture shock” upon return to the home country is much more surprising than the plain ol’ “culture shock” when going abroad. I can personally attest to that. Thanks again for another great video. And yes, it is going to get super ugly here in the US.
