Last week we sat down with Big K.R.I.T. for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation he talked about his inspiration for his new single “So Cool”, stepping into the director’s chair for the first time for the music video, explains the title to his new album ‘Digital Roses Don’t Die’, what inspires him to keep creating, reveals what type of vibes will be on the album, his growth as an artist from his first mixtape in 2005, going on tour for the first time in over 2 years, having a loyal fanbase & what they mean to him, the evolution of Country Rap Tunes, Pimp C’s influence on him, his close friendship with Bun B, the grind it took for him to get his music heard coming from Mississippi before the blog & online mixtape era, quitting his last job at Blockbuster in 2005 to focus on music full-time, “Just Touched Down”, signing with Def Jam, how being a major label compared to being indy, “The Vent”, his music helping people get through difficult times, “Mt. Been a fan of Krit since about 2011-12. Return of 4eva , 4eva in a day, and Krit are some of the best bodies of work I listened to but his albums just lack the soul his mixtapes have imo, this may be a reason he hasn’t had major commercial success and the label he was with didn’t know how to push him to the masses. But my boy forever a underground king.

KING REMEMBERED IN TIME
This album wasn’t at all what I would have expected from him right now but I am thankful he went this route. It’s a great album and I hope we can get more of this style of music from him. His music has never stopped being relatable to me and I’m glad it still can be.
