I understand Jester on a deeper level now. Laura has been playing a Trickery Domain Cleric as an Archfey Pact Warlock! She didn't abandon her original story she just adjusted it when her and Travis switched Classes! I love this concept! I love Matt and Laura! I love Critical Role!
I still cannot get over how Jester has essentially sparked the birth/development of a NEW GOD. All without even trying, she is truly an avatar of chaos in mortal form.
I think he's currently in the process of ascending like the Raven Queen and Vecna, but he doesn't know how to handle that because this all started out as a curiosity and prank. He wore the mask for so long, he actually started to become the thing they worshiped and now he doesn't want to disappoint them because he actually cares. We know the other gods know of him, because he was able to bring the Wild Mother's presence to revive Caduceus when Jester asked, but if he ascends on this side of the gate, that could cause problems. Hopefully he'll pass through the gate willingly.
The real question is what will his domains be and will that come into conflict with the other gods who have a similar domain. It can't wait to see if he becomes an actual god!
@@hank9112 it seems hes already well on his way; beyond demi-god status. I mean, he was an archfey beforehand- he's insanely powerful. Just not dangerous as say, Vecna was. And a God of Passage and Trickery, of Freedom (the Traveller hates closed doors) is a great addition to the Pantheon, and doesnt really crowd any existing God out. He at least seems to be viewed positively by the Wildmother, to some degree.
It was obvious from the first time Matt introduced the Traveler, so many episodes ago, that it was Artagan from campaign 1, so no surprise there. It was funny that he admitted that he had bitten off more than he could chew, though.
This goes into one of those theories that gods are made by man. They come into being because enough people believe in it and it gives them power. This is so amazing!!!
FYI: I saw the title when it was first uploaded on Friday. Not knowing the content, but WANTING to, that caused me to spend 4.99 solely to watch the VOD a few days early which I never do. So, congratulations?
I remember commenting I thought he was the traveler 8 months ago. Several people have me shit about not being cannun. I stopped watching live. Wish I had seen this live.
We all knew it was likely an NPC from before but I was always hoping the Traveler would never reveal his face. But regardless this was great and I love the traveler.
Weren't Matt and Travis talking about this party of Divine Sense?: "Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the Hallow spell." Maybe the Traveller is "Hallowed" in some way, that's why. Matt said Fjord didn't sense anything up to that point.
Firespear57 ah, I got confused because hallow lists fey among those that it banished, so it seemed that the holy warriors would be able to sense those foes too.
“Love me, worship me, do as I say and I will be your slave.”
Taliesin: “Go away fey David Bowie!”
@@SamuraiPanda201 According to Neil Gaiman, it's the Thin White Duke.
Feyvid Bowie
Alright, I'm out

Weeeeelllll
'and she saw me as a God, so for her, for you, I donned the mask of one' why do i get such Jarred, the Goblin king vibes from that?
Talesin thinks so as well. "Go back to your home David Bowie!"
Listen i did this as a joke and now im too deep. Help. HELP ME. >shakes Jester violently
It was just a prank bro!

I would find it hilarious if during the ascension vox machina showed up to stop him. M9 vs VM.
@@damightynein3489 its even funnier bc they know Artagan.

In the cartoon intro to CR, we see the birth of a God
7:56 Artagen strangling people at a con
he's experienced that. he doesn't need to experience it again.

What? Artagan is evolving! Artagan evolved into a God. Do you want to rename Artagan to Traveller?
Skeptical Caveman
Artagan the Traveler
omg I love how the chat is just freaking out
- DID JESTER BIRTH A GOD
- IT’S A FUCKING CULT
- ARTAGAN ARTAGAN ARTAGAN
If there's another level to this, and Artagan calls himself David Bowie, I SWEAR I will not be surprised at all.
It's kind of... almost like, as if, you almost... compulsively created suspense... almost, as if you almost couldn't help yourself from almost...
Gimilie getting bullied by Vox Machina and worshiped by the Mighty 9 omg

Great to see that you responded to our feedback! Thank you for your conscientiousness!
Damn, about that Days of War Post Launch Update tho
Jeste blue...kuato blue... Interspecies review?
Why did his voice change when he showed his face? Was he hiding it? Was Matt hiding it? David Bowie?
He was trying to sound more like a god for Jester.
But it couldn’t be fey, Fjord would’ve divine sensed it.
They misread the spell.

The creature types that Divine Sense finds is Celestial, Fiend, or Undead, it does not sense fey
