Nice discussion. Age, cold and bad charging system are the nemesis for batteries. AGM battery main claim to fame is better vibration resistance. Might get 1 more year of service vs traditional lead acid. Trickle charger if car sitting for more than 1 month probably worth the effort.
I'm a big fan of AGM batteries and use them whenever possible. They seem to be more resilient and recover better when fully discharged than comparably-sized lead acid batteries, and being to reduce weight is something I always try to do whenever reasonably possible!
Thanks Rich, i put an interstate large batt in the vantage and your past video helped a lot. Heavy and awkward but got it done thank you. Any way you do a clip specifically on the different battery types and trickle chargers and what setting to set them on? Bud, they have gel, lead, acid, lithium and what not. As well as what trickles are best for Aston martin? I bought a Duracell one from Costco and it seems to work fine. Anyways man thx for the posts and ill order some stuff soon, Chad from Cali.
I couldn't belive the size of that battery when i was inspecting mine... Do i need to remove the passenger seat for safety? Is so heavy that I'm sure i would damage something if i dont clear the seat out. Great video, is one of the upgrades i am contemplating to do. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I answered my own question by watching your (How to remove the battery) video. You didn't removed the seat... I guess i just want to be careful w my interiors because is so heavy.👍🏻
@@HarryESwan nope, don't need to remove the seat, just get ready to heave that massive battery out, and be careful with both your interior and your back!
Question. I'm about to buy a 2020 Aston Martin Vantage. I concerned because I will be traveling to London for two to three months at a time. My concern is that when I return I won't be able to start the car. It will have the original battery in it. You mentioned a reserve. Will that reserve be enough to start the car after that amount of time? It looks like a nightmare to access the battery if I have to jump it.

I recognise that Braille battery kit! Awesome setup in my 2014 Vantage!
I'm glad you like it!!
I can't find this in your store. Help! UK is shut down (COVID) and I can't get a OEM replacement.

Good Info Rich. Thanks. I recently got a Alarm System Requires Maintenance dash warning. Any chance this could be low-battery charge related? Thanks -
What is the OEM pecs/model varta battery please? Getting mine dead battery changed this weekend
