The song is made perfect by the "Hello? Is anyone there?" It perfectly sets the tone for Murdoc's feelings of isolation and lonliness he wanted convey. He got the idea when he was driving down a highway on Christmas Day and he was the only one out there.
Oof this mix is honestly better than the final outcome. M1A1 is one of my favorites with the hype and build up, but tbh the constant annoying shrieking of "HELLLOOOOO" in the first few seconds gets annoying really quick so I could never fully enjoy the song.
_M1A1_ is a song that was meant to be performed live, not be played back on a CD. Moreover, _M1A1_ is a song that was created specifically to serve as the opening of every Gorillaz concert. Which is why every Gorillaz concert begins with _M1A1._ And in that context, all of the "HELLOOOOOO!!!! IS ANYONE THERE!!!" samples from Day of the Dead playing as the song very slowly builds and builds until finally exploding into a chaotic cacophony of punk rock makes _much_ more sense. Watch basically _any_ Gorillaz concert or at least just the opening and you will understand the purpose that _M1A1_ serves and how incredibly effective it is at getting the audience hyped the fuck up and ready for anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours of these glorious Gorillaz and their magnificent monkey music.
@@dildonius Mate, I've *been* to a Gorillaz concert. It's fine in a concert environment, yeah, but I sort of wish the CD version cut on some of the intro.
The "Hello?" adds to the build up of the song. This version is completely empty without it, if it's even a real demo. I also find it weird how you can handle it during a concert, but not on the studio version.
To be honest, I like this version a lot better. I adore M1A1 for the hype in the first couple of minutes and the build up is a lot more intense when you're not being annoyed by *_"HELLOOOOOOO"_* for like half of the song.
This version makes me feel like its a bit more like a movie soundtrack for a 80s movie (kinda like some bits in the heathers movie soundtrack) and i like it
I swear this is going to be hella funny so Murdock is actually looking at noodles in saying fat C U N T The noodle open her eyes then fight him then Russell stop drumming and say bruh WTF? and 2-D screaming are we the last living soAAAAAA
It's weird how out of character seeing Gorillaz be an actual band together in a picture is.
it shouldn't
listening to final song: “man, the HELLOOOOO is so annoying”
listening to this: “something feels ....... wrong”
This channel is full of stuff you can't find anywhere else wtf

Where’d you get the info about Murdoc driving down a highway to think of this song? I’ve never heard of that before 🤔

@@pastelkei690 rise of the ogre book i remember reading about this
It sounds like an old demo from the 80s
Thats because the intro was sampled from an old zombie movie
Thats what i said but it reminded me a bit more of a soundtrack for something like heathers
@@beckettwalsh8229 thats cool
I will admit, this song just isn't as good without the guitar in the opening.
I agree, by the way, what are you doing here?
The first part of the song sounds like an 80s horror film introduction

Its first few minutes not seconds.
Xx randomkid52 xX Still gets my point across. It's MINUTES of the same thing over and over, gets pretty annoying.

This version makes me feel like its a bit more like a movie soundtrack for a 80s movie (kinda like some bits in the heathers movie soundtrack) and i like it
That's because they use a sample from the 80's movie "Day of the Dead", which the opening directly is.
It a sample from a classic zombie film call “Day Of The Dead”, you check it out if you haven’t:). The sample fits the earlier tone of de monke band

I think that the other versión of this song is awesome
Way better than the final version

The opening sounds very john carpenter
Hawl 9000 Its actually a sample from the opening of day of the dead.

This is literally just the Day of the Dead ost followed by an aneurysm. The final ver was just ripped straight from the movie and looped.
