The part in which Colossus offers his help to Wolverine before being told to look after the children is one of my favorite scenes from this movie. It showed that Wolverine had the potential of being a leader as well as showing his 'caring' side. It also showed that Colossus had what it took to become an X-Man.
For me Logan told colossus to protect the kids because he Knew THEY are what mattered, Logan had those bastards handled just fine. Theirs nothing they have he can’t take. They can empty their entire clips into him and Logan will just keep coming pissed off. It’s the kids that need protecting
Yeah the scene works great as Logan technically is working with Colossus he gives Colossus the argumentatively more important job like yes clearing the mansion is important but kids life come first and wolverine is basically telling Colossus that. If the scene had been Logan telling him to go hide with the others it would be different it would seem Logan doesn’t need or trust help but by telling him to protect it all but shows he trust him as much as he trust himself
the thing i love most about this scene is Bobbi's reaction to seeing Logan stab the soldier. He had no idea what Logan could do, like 2 minutes earlier he was having a friendly chat with him, then the next second he's stabbing soldiers to death lol
I absolutely love how it’s not Colossus’ entire body that turns into metal, but his muscle fibers, it’s a small detail that plays well into his design when you think about his powers work!
I love that you can see the military training Logan's got on display. At this point we didn't know he was military for like a hundred years of warfare and he doesn't remember it but those combat training instincts are still there. Sure he could just rush in and cut them all down like carving a cake and he does but he also thinks tactically and it's cool to see

There's something very scary about having to do a mission when it should be a stealth swarming of the mansion taking most out while they are sleeping and being heavily armed enough to take down the more powerful ones if needed, except there is an unkillable predator running around in the dark picking everyone off.

Basically most of them would've been lethal. If Siryn learned to control the full extent of her power, she alone would've burst the assailants eardrums and kill them in the process. There's no point discussing others such as Iceman, Pyro, Jubilee, etc.

Even as a kid, I always wondered where all the older students were. There has to be other mutants the same age as Colossus here. And I'm sure some mutants had powers that could easily defeat all those soldiers, yet the only person to fight back was Wolverine and Colossus.

They tried going too many routes while introducing more supporting characters that they could keep pace with ( Juggernaut, Angel, The Morlocks, etc.) and ended up nearly butchering the franchise. And these versions of the characters were not even consistent with their comic books counterparts. I know movies were supposed to be an adaptation but there's no way around it. These 'new' characters sucked. The premise also kept alternating between the cure and The Dark Phoenix while never establishing the point of origin behind both. It was all action packed with little to no storylines. The CGI was also cheap and all promises of epic character clashes such as Colossus vs Juggernaut or an extended Iceman vs Pyro never surfaced. This was also a perfect opportunity to do something with Rogue and Cyclops' character developments yet this movie was conveniently centered all around Wolverine again. Shall I go on? Sorry for the rant. I've stopped watching superhero movies for the sole reason that they're way too steeped in the political spectrums and tainted with political ideologies. I don't know we can both agree on that but anything else is spot on.

Luv how Singer devoted an entire scene to show how brutal Logan can get. Of course we get to see it later in his second and third solo outing, as well as Apocalypse, but it was a treat to see it in X2 years prior.

This was probably my favorite scene in the original movies because it showcases Logan's competence and skills from when he was an assassin. Usually he's always the one getting surprised or ambushed so they can showcase his healing ability. Not many scenes really demonstrate his tactical expertise.

The closest we got to seeing Wolverine's berserker rage. Unfortunately, they tried to make Logan into a leader-type character rather than the unpredictable force of nature he's supposed to be.
I was 14 when X-Men2 came out... I went to watch it with my friends at that point I used to think Wolverine as a badass guy with a badass personality! When He starts killing the soldiers the whole theatre was in the awe of Wolverine's true killing instincts and fighting ability! We started whisteling and clapping in the theatre and man everyone clapped after the scene got over, the true marvel comics fans were so happy because they somewhat unleashed the real Wolverine uncle

He’s view point, he can take everything these bastards have. they CANT kill HIM but the kids they are extremely vulnerable so he gets them out first. Even as a kid, I always wondered where all the older students were. There has to be other mutants the same age as Colossus here. And I'm sure some mutants had powers that could easily defeat all those soldiers, yet the only person to fight back was Wolverine and Colossus.
They were still being taught how to control their powers, in the comics there were more students and of different ages

Let's face it : If X-Men 1 didn't sell Hugh Jackman as Wolverine to you, this one scene definitely did.
This is one of the few movies where the sequel is better. However, X-Men: The Last Stand only proved that sequels being better is the exception, not the rule.
@@danielobrian5675 To be fair Last Stand is a Trequel, and those usually suck. Spider-Man 3, Superman 3, Blade Trinity, Batman Forever (kinda. It's not as bad as Batman & Robin at least), Iron Man 3... Only Trequels that broke this chain really are Civil War, Ragnarok, Guardians 3, Infinity War and No Way Home.
@@TheScarletWing2490 The Last Stand is a dumpster fire. They tried going too many routes while introducing more supporting characters that they could keep pace with ( Juggernaut, Angel, The Morlocks, etc.) and ended up nearly butchering the franchise. And these versions of the characters were not even consistent with their comic books counterparts. I know movies were supposed to be an adaptation but there's no way around it. These 'new' characters sucked.
The premise also kept alternating between the cure and The Dark Phoenix while never establishing the point of origin behind both. It was all action packed with little to no storylines. The CGI was also cheap and all promises of epic character clashes such as Colossus vs Juggernaut or an extended Iceman vs Pyro never surfaced.
This was also a perfect opportunity to do something with Rogue and Cyclops' character developments yet this movie was conveniently centered all around Wolverine again. Shall I go on?
Sorry for the rant. I've stopped watching superhero movies for the sole reason that they're way too steeped in the political spectrums and tainted with political ideologies. I don't know we can both agree on that but anything else is spot on.

Luv how Singer devoted an entire scene to show how brutal Logan can get. Of course we get to see it later in his second and third solo outing, as well as Apocalypse, but it was a treat to see it in X2 years prior.

This was probably my favorite scene in the original movies because it showcases Logan's competence and skills from when he was an assassin. Usually he's always the one getting surprised or ambushed so they can showcase his healing ability. Not many scenes really demonstrate his tactical expertise.
The opening scene to this movie with nightcrawler is one of my favorite scenes in x-men.
