I just discovered Alice Fredenham a couple hours ago and I'm hooked. Funny Valentine i cant stop listening to. absolutely jaw dropping. this is only like the 4th or 5th song i've heard her sing and, I'm blown away. Thank you for sharing this.
i cried when i heard her sing funny Valentine goose bumps - i listen to it over & over- i go to a lot of jazz clubs never ever see talent like this- Come back Alicia Jazz needs you, you penetrate my soul & heart❤
Thank you for this retrospective of Alice Fredenham. I'm 90 years old, and I've played her audition video at least a hundred times. It reminds of slow dancing in 1950 to all the tunes she sings. And her voice can bring me to tears. Amanda's comment at Alice's BGT audition said it all, "...mesmerizing, sensual, I fell in love with you" Didn't we all?
Absolutely LOVE Alice's voice - I could literally listen to her all day! She was created to sing this type of 30's, 40's bar music seen on black and white TV screens during the Humphrey Bogart era. We rarely hear this kind of music anymore, if ever. Although her talent wasn't readily recognized and was rejected on multiple occasions, it took just ONE YES to change Alice's life! Wherever she is today, I sincerely hope that confidence exudes as she rebuffs the nay-sayers realizing that her unique voice cannot be replicated. The world needs to hear you, Alice - you were made for this - you and you alone. Just IN-CRE-DI-BLE!
It's 1945 and the war is over ! We are at a night club and a female singer named Alice Fredenham is stepping up to the Mic ! Wow ! How did she get on here ? 😮
Check out her video I only have eyes for you video, that will send you straight to 1937 in a music bar with her on the stage behind a big round Mike in a dark blue and sliver dress with men sitting at tables smoking cigars and the bar tender serving scotch and brandy and a pianist in the corner playing. I love her voice, her modesty, her looks...There is something in her voice that reminds me of Billy Holiday. As if she has known pain. And she moves to the music when she sings as if she is not even aware of it. Mysterious lady. I hope she is well. I'd buy every album if I knew where from.

This remains one of my favorite performances on ANY of the Got Talent stages. The entire audience (and the judges) were completely mesmerized and transfixed. Absolutely stunning. I was happy to hear a few of her subsequent performances. Nice reaction!! Thank you!!

Alice stole my heart it’s the most beautiful audition I had ever heard I still listen and cry every time I wish Alice everything wonderful and happy comes her beautiful way 👍
I fell for Alice the first time I saw her sing. I watch and rewatch her UA-cam videos as often as possible. Her voice is so calming and original. Just wish she was singing full time. She is awesome!
I think Alice is one of the most mesmerizing singers I've ever heard. It is sad to me that she has disappeared from the music scene. Wherever she is and whatever she is doing, I hope she is living her best life. But I also wish she would come back and record another album. It would be such a gift to the world. Just a note - you say here that she went on to win the competition - but that is inaccurate. She did make it to the semi finals, but another act won the competition.
I have often wondered what happened to her. Thank you for this, Deborah. Makes my heart so happy to know she has flowered. It hurts when we humans struggle with our value and verve. 💜

Still the best I've ever heard. Angelina is close but Alice's version reduces me to tears with in the first few notes. Just as it did the first time I heard her sing it. It was so painful to watch her not be able to put that stage fright somewhere so she could continue her career. Her missing a verse in the next round broke my heart. She looked spectacular in that next round with that beautiful red dress. I know Simon worked with her after the show was done. But that's all I know. Alice is the voice that I loved to listen to alone in the dark with a superior audio system that could give you all the clearest replays. But in the dark with the volume up to the level that you might hear at a club which would be her ideal venue. Listening in the dark is always my favorite way to listen to music. Thanks for your reaction.

This is the first time I’ve encountered your channel. Your treatment of this artist is really sweet and touching. Thank you! Hugs! Happy holidays to you.
My first impression was not unlike hearing Judy Garland singing Somewhere over the rainbow for the first time. You knew something very special was unfolding before you. I hope Alice is well and knows what a blessing she is!
What a wonderful sharing and reaction. Thank you. I saw Alice on BGT and was mesmerized like so many. But I actually think she has blossomed as a singer. This was angelic. She has a bit of Amy Whnehouse, with more jazz than blues. Just beautiful!

First time I’ve seen your channel. I really appreciate how you don’t talk over the performance, instead waiting to offer thoughtful commentary afterwards. 👍🏼
I've watched her 2013 performance a couple dozen times and it brings tears to my eyes every time! Such a raw, from deep within her soul performance that cannot be faked. I'm happy to see she is continuing to sing. She needs a new engineer for "Someone to Watch Over You" to bring her voice up and back off the nice, but overpowering piano. Just sayin'....she still sounds beautiful.
@@TomTaylor-rl9pf Sadly for all of us it appears she has retired from the music business but if one is really lucky you might get to hear her at a local venue. Funny how some of us dream about success in entertainment only to discover it is a fickle business that will take what you have to offer then dump you in the street.
Fabulous show. I'm a subscriber even after only hearing your voice once. I was moved this afternoon as I discovered Alice Fredenham for the first time. I surfed the internet to find more places to hear about her and found your channel. So, it was a great show, but I'm also looking forward to hearing more of what you have to say.
Shes singing old yesteryear songs that come from the heart, sarah Vaughn, but seems shes also singing from a hurting heart too, thats why she sounds so great
Alice got to the semifinal on BGT in 2013 singing Cry Me A River but forgot a few words in the song and did not win the season. Sony records dropped her and she released an album Under The Covers on her own which was never promoted. This was my favorite cover of MFV until Angelins did another this year. Both versions are very sultry and I still watch both
I discovered Alice Fredenham a few days ago whilst perusing UA-cam, and found her voice incredible. I live in Germany and had never heard of her, but after listening to her audition on "Britain's Got Talent", which brought me to tears! I then tried to find her without success, but was able to order her CV "Under the Covers" (which I think it's the only one???) from Amazon, and now eagerly awaiting its arrival! Thank you for your retrospective on her - absolutely lovely - I loved it!
She's marvelous. Most music still sounds best on vinyl, and reggae still features it. Thank you for sharing. Please find her and bring us up to date? Thanks and blessings Queen!
It's not just her voice it's the whole heart and soul that makes a performance magical so you can feel it in your own heart and soul it's the difference between this and rock and roll which is you feel it in your head and your heart when you hear a former like this it affects your whole entire being and I like how you felt it as well especially coming from a darker pigmented feminine entity I could actually feel your feelings about what you were hearing
I loved her audition also. Thank you for bringing her back.. I'm 77 and I remember loving the smooth jazz and balads, but I had to keep in to myself. In the 60s it was Rock and Roll and I would have been banished by my friends if they knew what I listened to when alone
Thank you for doing this. She is so deserving. Maybe someone could tempt her into the jazz festival circuit at least. I don't know if she likes live performances since she's so shy but she was amazing.
Thank you for this wonderful upload. I’m old enough to remember LPs and placing the needle on the vinyl. I also loved those sultry female vocalists, and Alice provides an awesome addition to the genre. Hoping for similar content soon!
I'm really glad to have found you I think her Funny valentine is one of the best songs I've ever seen and I've searched for this follow up on what she is doing and had done since the competition thanks for the effort great job. I still go back and rewatch her do the Funny Valentine on BGT 2013 quite often :)
I loved her over of this song but to be honestly I think her official album release was disappointing as it needed more songs like this one that showcased her unique beautiful voice. I have a feeling marketing men got in the way because her talents are undeniable. Of course it is her right to sing what she wants but I hope future releases including more jazz standards where her Billie Holiday like skills can really be prominent. It is a waste to have such a talented singer deliver material that does not promote her strengths. This song though like her covers on the Talent shows is gorgeous.
Over the years i have watched agt, bgt, cgt and i believe she is still one of my favorites. I was so excited she won. I hope it changed her life in wonderful ways. She is amazing, yet humble.
Here I go again -- I also found a recording she did for her Kickstarter supporters in 2015, on UA-cam, of, "I Only Have Eyes for You." Beautiful! Spine tingling! Once again, I hope she can (if necessary) tell the music industry to go jump, and find some way to make her singing available.
Alice's 'I only have eyes for you' was done at Esoteric recordings. While Esoteric helped with that release, they totally botched the rest of Alice's Kickstarter campaign. I know, as I was one of 600 who participated. Alice stopped singing by the release of her album, late 2016. There are a total of 26 songs, including the auditions and ten from her album, with all but three on UA-cam. There are also three interviews. I hope she's doing well, but sadly, we've long lost hearing her sing.
@@gregparrott I was a kick starter, too. She disappeared. I think she was likely abused by the industry. Clearly, the folks who picked her up and produced her album sucked... and took her off her career trajectory as a classic, vintage singer. So sad, really. `So sad.
Excellent video review to highlight the "Cinderella story" of Alice Fredenham. Such a wonderful timeless moment of Ms. Fredenham's vocal performance on BGT -- So many powerful things contained in her stage performance in 2013. So glad to see she's produced on her terms so she can truly show what she''s capable of musically. Just feels so wonderful to see someone so humble and broken absolutely conquer the world in a few minutes on stage -- Timeless (it never gets old watching that moment)! Thanks again for this great review and update. We all could use more "happily ever-after" experiences in this darkened world.
Thank you for show casing Alice. You also recognize the greatness in her delivery, ability to enthrall her listeners, a uniqueness and yet subtle familiarity of great vocal predecessors in her voice. She should start in her own musical biography about her journey to being discovered or portraying another famous cinematic siren great.
Yes Alice isn’t being promoted right in my opinion. There needs to be some real talented producers to bring out her talents! I hope they don’t leave her twisting in the dust, because she’s way way too talented to ignore! 🖖 I just got through listening to some of the record again that she put out. I think what’s missing is the passion we felt from the show that hasn’t matched the record. This is why you need a very good producer, they can bring out something that no one else has. Let’s hope they find somebody worthy of her!
Still waiting and praying for someone to properly manage her path to greatness. Simon, can’t you help her here? She’s being mismanaged and wasted. It’s a crime to let her talent languish. We need the real Alice Fredenham to light up our world. 🙏🏼
Just looked for her and heard a few of her professional recordings, including "My funny Valentine". I love her original version on AGT, and just realized why, the key it was recorded in, it's for my taste, a bit low in comparison and her voice drags a bit and does not shine like on her debut with Simon. She's still precious and has a great jazzy voice 🤗💞
Alice was so wonderful the first time I heard her, wow so oh my god for her I love her from heart and soul is what made her so amazing I still love when her sang Funny Valentine, I could see her in a Red Velvet Sequent Dress with her on a platform with a group playing behind her with the music, and even today I still see her today with it 8o).
Thank you for featuring her. I just heard her for the first time yesterday had to replay it 3 times now I am searching to find out what ever happened to her ?
I listened to after buying her album… I listened to her album while painting. At least 50 times in the first week. Voices have the ability to change lives. All my love to you Alice and YOU HAVE TO DO ANOTHER ALBUM PLEASE. I WILL LSO BUY IT.
Hi. I want to start off by saying... Thank you for highlighting this beautiful woman, who also has the voice of an Angel. I was looking for more info (and music) on Alice and your heading of 'where are they now' caught my attention. However there is no additional info provided in your video.... So my search continues
@@jannrhoads5836 She wasn't dressed for the part, but had she been fitted with the red dress I saw her in, and fully made up 'facially, like she was in a later performance, she would have come forth as gorgeous goddess like lounge singer. She should have taken a cue from 'old time' singer Julie London, for sure.
@@ridgemanron Coudnt disagree with you more. I'd have her a thousand times over than wearing that red dress and red lipstick.... A stunningly beautyful woman with an equally stunning and pure voice, and voi-la, David (BGT) said it best: a godess... A bundle of nerves wearing jeans and a sweater smashing three thousand hearts (and some) within minutes!!!! Pure magic.... And by the way.. It does not need to be a red dress, she makes any black dress look like a million dollar one!
This was one of Alice Fredenham's best performances it is evenident in how involved she was in what she was doing a natural true performance coming right from her sole I think a ton of inputs from every corner confused her output when she gets back her true confidence and it becomes part of her we all will benefit from her greatness.
Jammer dat ze niets laat horen.Zij heeft veel talent.Bijzondere en heel mooie vrouw.Elke jaar ga ik kijken, heeft ze wat uitgebracht? Go Alice Go! Laat je horen!
Her voice is so amazing and when she sings it touches your soul. Its breathtaking, close your eyes and just listen for them few minutes all there is Alice's mesmerising voice flowing through you its a feeling of peace that is rare these days. Thankyou Alice
Hi Deborah (love what you've done with your hair!). Yes, as Bob Deane pointed out, Alice did not win that competition. And there was a good amount of controversy and rumor connected with Alice that may not have benefited her career. And it is too bad because I really liked some of her vocal efforts. Oddly enough, the spot that she had in my heart for a while was taken over by Angelina ... who has a very long term lease on that particular space now.
Could you tell me where you've heard Angelina's cover of 'My Funny Valentine'? It must be REALLY special if it could possibly rival Alice Fredenham's cover.
@@ron4mac Thanks for the links. She has matured into a stunning beauty. But I worry that the constant attention has diminished some of her original appeal. Angelina may have gained technical proficiency, but I prefer the more candid 10 year old's cover than her mix of posing. Returning to Alice, there is a video of Alice in studio in 2012, ~six months before her BGT audition. Unlike the truncated version to fit BGT's time slot, Alice sings the full song: ua-cam.com/video/MKS4NyqF6Ik/v-deo.html To my tastes, Alice's cover remains the truest expression.
@@gregparrott I mostly agree. Not watching the teen Angelina video (just listening) improves the feeling. Angelina is quite young still and learning through her experiments. It was a mistake to do the posing thing, IMO. Alice has no problem with throwing her sexy sultriness into the song ... and is old enough for us to accept her doing so. Angelina's time will be coming soon enough ... and I can't wait.
Actually, I'm unable to write on my dam... Cell phone, because you got me in TEARS! Your adoration of Miss Fredenham got up so many memories, when I was working for Musical with an ALL American Cast! Especially to Mr. Ray Stevens, a former member and, as far as I know Founder of the "Village People"! (Have a beautiful Rest in Heaven!) May God bless all the successful, and even more, the less successful Gypsies, who work in this hard, difficult, exhausting but wonderful business. I'm sorry, that I strolled along with my thoughts and memories, but at age 62 you sometimes succomb to it Not to mention that September 11th is next week... THANK YOU BY HEART! To write this message took me about 15 minutes Tears

I was very glad to see and hear this video. I recently saw Alice Fredenham's famous performance on BGT, and wanted to see what else she had done. All I could find was her one album, from 2017, I believe -- I thought it was disappointing and noticed that most reviewers on Amazon agreed -- apparently the producers were to blame. And what a pity, considering what she is capable of, with her beautiful voice and beautiful soul. So I was really glad to hear the more recent recording on your video, in an ideal setting, with a sympathetic piano accompaniment . . . and Alice F. back in top form. Was that from an album??? Or where and how did you find it?? Please do try to find out what she is up to, and keep listeners informed. I hope she is somehow enjoying the success that her talent deserves.
Alice's cover of 'Someone to watch over me' is not on her album. She released it separately and had some distant contact post it on UA-cam following the release of her debut album, November 2016. Original release: ua-cam.com/video/t0U_GNcjqxM/v-deo.html Over five years ago, I asked that channel owner about Alice, but he didn't know her. Sadly, By the release of her album, Alice stopped singing.
It was a gofundme album, so I think she was trying to please everybody with the song choises. Such a loss, that she withdrawn from all of this after the release :(

First time I’ve seen your channel. I really appreciate how you don’t talk over the performance, instead waiting to offer thoughtful commentary afterwards. 👍🏼
Thank you for doing this. I just now found out who Alice is. I'm 85 years old and know vinyl. She's a wonderful artist. Thanks again for your UA-cam.
Just fabulous she us so talented can sing anything, she shoukd be a superstar now in her own show in los Angeles
same here, couldn't help tears from falling. She is amazing.
Me to!!!😢
The most interesting voice I've heard since Sinatra. Where is she?
This was the post I came for, After seeing her BGT audition and needed to see what happened!!Thank You so much for posting this.
Shes singing old yesteryear songs that come from the heart, sarah Vaughn, but seems shes also singing from a hurting heart too, thats why she sounds so great
Phenomenal talent. Alice shouldn't have to struggle anymore...she should be a worldwide phenomena by now. It's only right.
Alice got to the semifinal on BGT in 2013 singing Cry Me A River but forgot a few words in the song and did not win the season. Sony records dropped her and she released an album Under The Covers on her own which was never promoted. This was my favorite cover of MFV until Angelins did another this year. Both versions are very sultry and I still watch both
Sony dropped her which means she didn't sleep with anyone, didn't give blow jobs and didn't sale her soul. Perfect!!@@
I wish her to go great again!! Only God knows an will guide her❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤❤
Thank you for this precious video. I lost track of Alice and was a bit heart broken when she was not around. Again, thank you.😁😍🤩
I watch her audition years ago and never forgot her voice. Truly skilled singer and draws you right in to her singing.. love it..
Dreamy and got me closing my eyes and floating on beautiful clouds and a warm breeze just dreamy..fluid smooth and sultry!
She is bringing the past into the future too. I love the trajectory of this old to new and updated classics.
I loved her audition also. Thank you for bringing her back.. I'm 77 and I remember loving the smooth jazz and balads, but I had to keep in to myself. In the 60s it was Rock and Roll and I would have been banished by my friends if they knew what I listened to when alone
Her voice is mesmerizing! It takes me back . Way back. The vinyl 45's and LPs. Break out the record player" !!😎🍍🌴🇺🇸
Pure perfection... Doubt I ever will experience anything topping this....
Thank you for bringing us this update.
I'm really glad to have found you I think her Funny valentine is one of the best songs I've ever seen and I've searched for this follow up on what she is doing and had done since the competition thanks for the effort great job. I still go back and rewatch her do the Funny Valentine on BGT 2013 quite often :)
Outstanding 😢I could listen to her all day . Stunning lady ❤
Totally agree. I heard her album but no such touching warm music like this one. What a waste😢
YES ... Vinyl!! she was fantastic on BGT.. Loved watching you watch her!!
So mesmerizing, so smooth, such unique emphasis and phrasing.
I just got through listening to some of the record again that she put out.
What a sweet voice, I can hear any song she sang all day everyday ❤
Alice was so wonderful the first time I heard her, wow so oh my god for her I love her from heart and soul is what made her so amazing I still love when her sang Funny Valentine, I could see her in a Red Velvet Sequent Dress with her on a platform with a group playing behind her with the music, and even today I still see her today with it 8o).
Thank you for featuring her. I just heard her for the first time yesterday had to replay it 3 times now I am searching to find out what ever happened to her ?
Her soul touched mine ❤
May she have a blossoming future.
Shes someone to listen to everyday all day, soothing and cool
I listened to after buying her album… I listened to her album while painting. At least 50 times in the first week. Voices have the ability to change lives. All my love to you Alice and YOU HAVE TO DO ANOTHER ALBUM PLEASE. I WILL LSO BUY IT.
Hi. I want to start off by saying... Thank you for highlighting this beautiful woman, who also has the voice of an Angel. I was looking for more info (and music) on Alice and your heading of 'where are they now' caught my attention. However there is no additional info provided in your video.... So my search continues
I did come across your other channel, Fit Fab 50, and admire your very positive vibe
Simon said to her: Your voice is like liquid gold & that is what it is! ... BEAUTIFUL & MESMERIZING!
I love this, you are amazing Alice 💖
From South Africa.
I’m 77 and have never heard such a voice as hers. I LOVE HER
Next to Angelina's most current version of the song, I thought Alice's version
was better than anyone else I ever heard do it.
She was extremely sultry and has a beautiful voice too.
@@jannrhoads5836 She wasn't dressed for the part, but had she been
fitted with the red dress I saw her in, and fully made up 'facially, like
she was in a later performance, she would have come forth as
gorgeous goddess like lounge singer. She should have taken a cue
from 'old time' singer Julie London, for sure.
Absolutely wonderful as well as breathtaking. I desire to have her music in my collection. I love her style. Just magnificent and magical.
thank you greatly for your reaction to this amazing soulful singer…
I love Alice's voice! Also, your UA-cam channel is amazing. You are an inspiration. Thank you!
Thrilled to have found your channel‼️. You are wonderful❤️👏👏👏

Thank you for sharing! Love Alice’s voice❤️
To an old guy (66) like me she is totally enchanting and is an old soul !
My mom used to sing this ❤ Thank you Alice for singing the golden oldies so Beautifully
Jammer dat ze niets laat horen.Zij heeft veel talent.Bijzondere en heel mooie vrouw.Elke jaar ga ik kijken, heeft ze wat uitgebracht? Go Alice Go! Laat je horen!
It's so hard to me to like someone's voice. She stunned me today...she reaches ppl heart. Like she reached yours ❤❤❤

Unlike the truncated version to fit BGT's time slot, Alice sings the full song:
ua-cam.com/video/MKS4NyqF6Ik/v-deo.html To my tastes, Alice's cover remains the truest expression.
❤❤❤❤❤ Just Amazing Alice. Just beautiful..... Just beautiful like you. God bless you always 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Puerto Rico
(Have a beautiful Rest in Heaven!)
May God bless all the successful, and even more, the less successful Gypsies, who work in this hard, difficult, exhausting but wonderful business.
I'm sorry, that I strolled along with my thoughts and memories, but at age 62 you sometimes succomb to it
Not to mention that September 11th is next week...
THANK YOU BY HEART!
To write this message took me about 15 minutes
Tears
Thank you 😊
she is an amazing and beautiful singer - thank you Debra and best regards from Germany - mySoundbook - i am Carlo LaPadula, CEO of a Music Startup in Berlin - like Nina Simone, Ella and Etta James....
Original release: ua-cam.com/video/t0U_GNcjqxM/v-deo.html
Over five years ago, I asked that channel owner about Alice, but he didn't know her.
Sadly, By the release of her album, Alice stopped singing.
It was a gofundme album, so I think she was trying to please everybody with the song choises. Such a loss, that she withdrawn from all of this after the release :(
Her voice melts ice wow she’s everything to me Such perfection. She moves me 🫠💝💐thanks you have a lot of class 💐
...beautiful woman, beautiful voice, excellent performance...
Yes, vinyl voices. I hear you.
A wonderful review. Thank you X
