She won BEST UP and COMING ARTIST in Modern Drummer Magazine's recent reader's pole. She is also one of five artists nominated for BEST ROCK DRUMMER in DRUMEO's online pole. The results will be announced January 31st, 2024. The Villarreal-Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track! They have recently finished recording their 4th studio album: no name or release date yet. The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (recording engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English Bilingual school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. Shortly thereafter they got real instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 23, 21 and 19 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #46 original songs (and recently finished recording their 4th studio album). They recently performed 2 songs at the MTV VMA's. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. I had the opportunity to meet with them 3 more times during the 10 shows I attended on their 2022 North American MAYDAY Tour and 2023 ERROR WORLD TOUR. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. I have always said this their S.O.A.D. song. I think you are the first reactor I've heard reference them. It does have a Middle Eastern vibe. 👊😃
Pau was absolutely on fire in this concert! Well, check that, they ALL were on fire. So much energy & passion! Lunario is a legendary performance. Also, “Queen of the Murder Scene” is a masterpiece of a concept album. For them to compose, record & then perform to this level at their age at that time, is simply mind blowing. Keep going with the Lunario songs - Dany is so in character for this album’s content, it’s amazing.
This is one of the first few songs I’d heard. This is the opening for their Queen of the Murder Scene album. It tells a whole story of a woman's journey from desire to obsession and eventually madness and murder. Paulina says she came up with the story in middle school which even after following them closely for a couple years leaves me speechless. The album is a masterpiece. This song has a dark hypnotic groove and almost a gothic feel, which s fitting since Pau is singing from the perspective of the main character’s ghost at her funeral, asking us to come in and listen to her tale of how things can go wrong. So the story begins at the end.

Dany usually attracts more attention as she is the only guitarist and excellent frontwoman of the band, but Pau, although she has a smaller range of voice, is also an excellent singer, with a great ability to awaken deep emotions and usually sings those types of songs. Furthermore, Pau is a singing drummer, which is extraordinarily difficult and therefore rare. A drummer needs to be able to independently control his four members and if in addition to that you add shooting the tracks that the band uses and the visuals and also singing, it is a titanic task. Therefore, as Pau has said, she could only sing at most 3 songs per show, because doing so is physically and mentally exhausting. Ale, the bassist, is also a good singer, but she doesn't like to sing lead and therefore only does it when Dany needs to give her voice a rest.
