God continue to bless you for your kindness together with Tom. But please beware of people who are always looking for people to use or abuse, especially kind people like yourselves. Remember, some people are more interested in having a good life that you have, than building a life for themselves, and following their own destiny. And don't exhaust yourself for other people, have your boundaries and give yourself in ways that don't exhaust you. It is always a good thing to help, but don't make yourselves responsible for others.
I am much older than both of you, and I learnt this the hard way. I always loved helping people, and for a long time kept on attracting users and abusers until I became physically exhausted and ill. That's when I started creating boundaries and learning when to say YES and when to say NO. Some people might not even be aware they are using or abusing you, because they are just focused on getting what they want. So, it's always up to you to learn to say NO, where appropriate.
