My PS5 side panel came off a lot different from this video. Almost broke mine by pulling up (vertically toward sky, not completely up but the same way he explained, read on to explain)…. I got my PS5 (not slim) in Nov 2023, if that matters. I position it the same exact way as he does, with disc facing me, but I just pushed the top part horizontally, from Left TO RIGHT, toward wall (since it is lying on side) . Once’s it’s off you will see that it’s just a downward (or horizontal) push towards bottom of PS5, hope that makes sense. Putting back on you will see the position of inserts, and that it’s just a push horizontally, now starting from Right TO Left… I really hope that helps cause mine was way easier once I finally got it off and saw the insert connections. Maybe pulling “up” like he did might loosen the top of PS5 but (at first, lightly) but it’s mostly pushing DOWN TOWRDS bottom of Ps5, way more than anything. This video was helpful but also pretty deceiving for me as I thought mine was going to crack. You can only do it as easy as he makes it look, if it has already been open before, but especially then, it’s so much easier to push straight “down” towards bottom of ps5 to easily take off and on. Might make a video if anyone needs it.
Installed mine last night. 20 minutes later and I have to turn the console off because it's overheating. I've removed the side plate and the cover of the expansion bay in the hope it lasts longer tonight 🤞
The crucial T500 Drive has known severe speed throttling issues which the company has acknowledged but has yet to provide a fix.more than 3 weeks later not a single peep from the company. Look for other brand alternatives until and if the T500 problems are resolved.
apparently, there might be a fix that slightly reduces the problem but not eliminate it. I decided to go for the Samsung 990 pro. You won't be able to tell the speed difference between the two but you will definitely feel the T500 Slowdowns!@@DarrenExplorz

Hi, For PS5 we recommend the Crucial T500 with heatsink. To learn more please visit crucial.gg/T500HS. If you have any further questions or concerns, please visit crucial.gg/ContactSupport so that you can speak to a customer support representative.
Hey djkay1! This upgrade is utilized in the expansion slot portion of the Playstation 5, so the included system SSD will remain in place to maintain the OS and current games stored there. The upgrade will allow you to either move games and the associated data, or add more.
Hi Poludio, We do not recommend removing the heatsink on any of our SSDs as it voids the warranty. If you were interested in a Crucial SSD without a heatsink, we also sell the T500 in a non-heatsink version. Please be warned, however, that a heatsink is required for use with an SSD in the PS5, as per Sony's system requirements for adequate heat dissipation.
Because that's how poorly this drive performs with the PS5, according to the latter's speed test. It's consistently around 5500, the bare minimum. It also happened to the Tom's Hardware reviewer, and a couple of Vine reviewers on Amazon, who twisted it into it being a positive thing. This is not a good drive for the PS5, as even the older P5 Plus does better than this. This one needs a firmware fix, because it should do much better in the PS5. Its current state is a shame.
@@Bruh-Moment I would still get this one over the P5 Plus, because it's spec'ed better, even if that isn't reflected in the PS5's sequential read test. Also, the T500 should run circles around the P5 Plus in terms of IOPS. It's just a shame that the T500 does so badly in the PS5's read benchmark, as it raises many doubts.
@@Jervo2000 that's a tried and true drive for the PS5, as far as I know. It was one of my top three choices, although I ended up getting a Samsung 990 PRO because I found it much cheaper; but I wouldn't claim I got the better choice, because the SN850X is pretty much proven to be reliable, while the 990 PRO is too recent and still under the lingering shadow of the 980 PRO's massive fiasco.
Thanks for the guide. Looking forward to having more than 4 games on my PS5 😁
...great video, very informative and simple to follow.
thanks man, great video
Please make a tutorial for the PS5 Slim.
Just got mine today. Can't wait to install it 👍🏽
How much speed do you have with yours t500?
@@samsonehifemhen6097yeah I want to know the same op
@@ajju9233 I picked up the T500 and my read was around 5500MB/S
Thanks for the question Samson! Our T500 currently supports Gen4 speeds up to 7,400/7,000MB/s sequential reads/writes.
We're stoked for you!

Hey there 👋 Thanks for your feedback. We're happy to hear you were able to safely remove your PS5 cover.
I had the same issue, struggled a lot more getting the cover off than he did in the video haha
Thx!

The card won’t line up with the 80 any solution
I am getting just 5581 MB/s on my PS5 and in your video it says 6294 MB/s. Why the difference?
Is my product bad?
Update your SSD with PC if you can , last updates give higher read speed for PS5 ( 6500-6900mo/s )
There is no way for me to unscrew the screw for the spacer.

I'm gonna go with Corsair MP600 2TB
This is only for writes going over 500 gb
Why t500 2tb in ps5 speed only 5524 MB/s

It gives the ps5 more space
Essentially, yes
