Judo Seoi Nage vs Daito Ryu Kata Otoshi.
I show a standard entry for seoi nage, an over the back throw from judo, followed by a standard self defense throw. In the self defense technique I show two options, one from Gracie Jiu-jitsu which is loading your opponent on your back, and the other from Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu where you “disappear” by dropping down and to the side. This throw is similar to “drop seoi nage” because the opponent is not loaded on your back.

I remember watching a Travis Stevens video on ippon a while back and he mentions all the top competitors only do eri seoi nage (hand on the lapel) instead of the classic sleeve grip. I thought that was crazy because you are taught to use the sleeve, but when I searched for ippon seoi compilations, they were all with the lapel. That pocket grip you show is a unique variation on that. You don't see that grip too often.
